I recently bought my first Lexus ever. My IS250 needed some love and the previous three owners never got the recall for the dashboard. I was unable to find a used one so I decided to buy a new one. But thanks to you I saved $$$$ by doing it myself instead of taking it to the stealership. This for sure is a 12 hour project. If I could suggest something to any future Lexus owner thinking about making this happen… write every step down and if at all possible, also take pictures of things that seem too complicated or have too many steps. For the OP, I can’t thank you enough for this video.

That is a very challenging job. Interiors today are designed to hide the fasteners for aesthetic reasons, and the extensive use of hooks, barbs and "christmas trees" make assembly at the factory quick. All of that makes it a real challenge to reverse engineer the assembly process when trying to remove these fragile parts, never knowing how hard one can safely pry and pull before breaking something.
You have done a great job of distilling several hours of work down to less than 15 minutes. Showing the location of the various attachment points and fastening methods makes the job for your audience much easier.

You don't actually need to undo anything related with steering wheel. Just move it all the way backwards and down, the dash is soft enough to flex around the steering wheel. Removing steering wheel obviously makes it easier, but it is possible to do without removing it. As well instrument cluster could be pulled out without removing the wheel, just little bit hard to undo the plugs from the back. Did it myself today in ~1.5 h but that was only because I had to get the battery from home to move the steering wheel. I reckon it could be done in ~30 min if everything is ready.

@@lisao3041 At 5:00 he touches the socket of the ABS system. If he's electrically charged (e.g. by rubbing his body on the carpet) a discharge creates a little spark to the connector. That connector's only purpose is to transmit a little signal to fire up the airbag. Your discharge can do the same thing. Also after you took the airbag out always put it face up. So in case it goes of the actual bag of air can expand freely. If you put it face down the whole assembly is catapulted through the air (easy to find on youtube)
