Why cook on the griddle and sear on the grates? A griddle sear is better than good looking grill marks. While the grates allow for more surface area covered in smokey charcoal goodness while slow cooking.
Good cook.I have grillgrates and run about 610-650 degrees when cooking steak and I measure the temp at the top of the rail with a IR thermometer. You should get one. Cooking chicken I run about 350-400 for a nice golden brown color.Grillgrates are one of the best inventions for barbecue.
Good video -- Thanks! Did you ever season the grates? How'd they turn out if you did? I also saw that adding cold charcoal to the bed of hot coals helps to get the temps up too
i don't think i did for the very first cook (just an oversight on my end) however after that i used a high temp grilling spray for maybe 5 or 6 times and now 1 year + they are still working great!
you never cut into the steaks to show us how they came out or gave your opinion on how they taste at all. so what’s the point of the video just to show the grill marks
Man, those grill lines are on point! That’s cool!

yeah that was kinda of the point! mainly "look i got a new toy lets play with it" I'll be sure to show the cook and taste in future content
You have the last one upside down.
you can cook on either side I did it on purpose in this video... the flat side will give you a better all over sear!
