Terrific vlog Christian. Personally speaking, I think I enjoy rounds in windy conditions as much, or more, than I enjoy them calm blue bird sky conditions. I like the scramble format too. It would be fun see more hickory events in this format - especially with golfers of varying ability or skill. Chris has a beautiful swing, and fantastic putting and play around the green from you and Barry too. I think it would be fun to see a year-end highlight reel from all of the courses you've played this year. Thanks for keeping up the good work!
Good idea, Brad! I’m saving individual clips of the best shots from each round so I may be able to do just that. I’d love to play in more hickory scrambles. The Golf Heritage Society events are usually set up as scrambles and they’re a blast. It’s easier and more fun for me to edit those rounds when I film them, too.
Great round Gentleman! That was full of the up and downs and full contributions from each member of the team. I would love to play in one of these someday so I'll keep an eye out and try to add it to my bucket list. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching, Glenn! I think this is the best way to play hickory golf, especially if you’re a beginner. No pressure and everyone gets an opportunity to contribute on every shot. Just a ton of fun.
Another great course vlog Christian. KC is still a little to far away to enjoy the trip for me but I sure would like to see something like this happen in Colorado. Thank for showing us Falcon Lakes and tell me please, when did you learn to putt so well...or was the wind blowing all your putts in? lol
Honestly, my putting has become much more consistent since I switched to the single-plane setup. I still have bad days but it’s easier to diagnose what’s going wrong and quicker to fix now. It’s too bad there isn’t a more active hickory golf scene in CO. I’m sure there are some courses that would be a lot of fun to play with hickories.
@@TheHickoryHacker Yeah, my home course was Haystack Mountain in Niwot, Colo, a 9 hole executive course. They closed down this year after 70 years just as I was getting into hickories.
@@TheHickoryHacker Unfortunately I'm not playing at all this year. Too many problems in the way. lol I am looking for the right course as I am done with yayhoos who want to run around the course in a big hurry so they can get back to what they were doing before teeing off. This is new to me and I find it sickening while playing...plus at 75 I'm slowing down now not "picking it up." There are no down times on these courses that surround a major city like Denver either so I'm searching for that laid back and uncrowded country atmosphere. Otherwise I'm done. Wish me luck.
Thanks, Mark! I usually hit the driving iron around 190. Well struck, about 205. Those well struck shots happen way more consistently for me with the driving iron than the brassie, too, which is why I often play entire rounds these days without the brassie. Even though I might hit the brassie 215 or 220 on occasion, I’m much less accurate with it and I score better overall when I’m shorter but in the fairway with the driving iron.
From Nebraska, I'm used to playing in such wind. Like you, I enjoy the challenge.
I always figure it’s good practice for whenever I get the opportunity to play real links golf in Scotland.

That is some intense wind
The hardest wind I’ve ever played in, by far, but it made it a lot of fun. I’ve come to really enjoy playing in wind.

Must feel like you're playing in Scotland !
It’s how I imagine it’d be! Hoping I can find out first-hand some time soon.
Love the video..may I ask how long do you normally hit that driving iron?

Hey me and my dad work there and we sall you there and it was very Wendy
Nice! That was the windiest round I’ve ever played. Even windier than my trip to Scotland!
