RaDona has been a hair stylist for 22 years and has been here on this youtube channel for many years. RaDona really loves helping people with their hair and it is a huge passion of RaDona’s. RaDona made this video to help people at home cut their own hair. Everyone is in quarantine right now and to help with the hair, she is doing a tutorial on how to cut your own hair at home since all salons are closed right now. A lot of people have been asking RaDona on what they are supposed to/ going to do right now while everything is closed. Obviously, not everyone is going to have the same haircut and style that RaDona has, but she will give you pointers and tips and tricks that can work for all types of hair types and cuts. For RaDona, her hair type is fine thin hair. As you can tell, the products that she uses everyday to style her hair really help out with the appearance of her hair. She will not only walk through how to cut your own hair but how to style your hair and what kind of products you will want to use to tailor to your hair type and hair needs. This video passed my field of vision and i immediately jumped. My hair hasn’t been done since last October 😲 I normally wear an A-line. But last person who did it cut it so short and thin i felt like a cancer patient when I left the salon. I’m always coming on here and complaining to you about my haircuts 😁 Anyway I’ve tried to cut my hair before but it didn’t turn out that well. So I took my iPad in the bathroom and watched you as I cut my own hair. I had really sharp scissors and texturing shears already. I think my angle was off before. I kept an eye on the angle of your hand while I followed you along. MY HAIR TURNED OUT GREAT! I love it! It was hard to do the back but it still looks good I might go in on one side and point cut a little more off but I gotta say this turned about better than any cut i get at the salon. Cuz I’m able to get what’s in my head to come out my hands. Thanks!

RaDona, Just what I needed!!! Am on lockdown for 5 weeks after 4 months lockdown because of chemo and radiation. Started to lose hair after treatments were finished and not able to see my stylist now the same as so many others. I have watched for channel for ideas for my stylist for over a year now and generally don't like to comment but..... I must say thank you thank you thank you!!! I had ordered scissors from Amazon so I wouldn't use my large sewing shears and was going to do this anyway. Watched lots of videos including yours, to get tips and courage🙈🙊🐵🙊. Most of the other videos were NOT professional as was obvious with the end result🤦🏼♀️I had tried to take notes on some of your client videos that seemed like it would work for my style but now...... you have saved the day or the hair.. we shall see. Thank you so much! I never cut my hair (or anyone else's) before until the Covid19 lock-down in NYC. I always have been fascinated about how hair dressers cut hair and enjoyed watching them cut hair. Well, this is my excuse to chop away. I learned how to do the point cut and your demo emphasized how to angle your scissor and slide your scissor in between strips of hair to get that feather look for the bang area. That is very helpful, as you clearly explain your technique. Thank you for that! So, I've been cutting my curly locks in the short pixie hair style (close around the top of my ears and sides. With each cut I learned a new technique that works. Then, I went wild on my husband's hair and bought professional scissors, combs, cape, trimming electric razor, and the barber brush to clean off loose cut hair. I usually cut my husband's hair outside on the front porch, but with the cold weather, we took it inside. My husband LOVES my hair cuts. He gives very little compliments, but after he gets my hair cut, he thanks me multiple times! It's such a sense of relief to be able to cut my and my husband's hair, so we lessen our exposure to the Covid19 virus and we don't have to travel to the salon / barbers where the virus could be lingering in the air or over your head while the hair dresser/barber works over you. I developed terrible allergies (later in live) and chemicals (like dye, bleach, hair spray, permanent solutions, etc...) make me very sick. So, I am free from those environmental exposures. I can't even wear make up w/o my eyes burning and tearing. Dye of any sort not only burns my scalp and my eyes, but it effects my windpipe! So, now I'm free or all those exposures! Thank you for all your tips! You are very sweet and generous with your time. I so appreciate you!!

I used to cut my own hair for more than ten years with no formal training, just a lifetime of watching it done. I did love point cutting and always ended up with a couple of polka dotted fingers with all the cuts. Those shears are sharp!!! Now I’ve gotten lazy (old) and rely on a pro, but many times I leave the salon feeling that I could have done better myself, if it weren’t for the darn back! These days I’m seriously thinking of buying a trimmer and just go for it with the higher to lower number guards and see what happens. My philosophy has been that it’s just hair and will grow back, besides, that’s what wigs and hats are for!!!,😉

Wish I had found this video during covid. I learned to cut my family's hair then and chopped at mine basically. I did some of the cutting into the bangs this morning, pulling the sides forward and cutting and textured too! So much fun! What a fun career you have!

Just trimmed mine. I used clippers on the back and sides (first time) and it turned out pretty darn good. My cut is very similar to yours. I actually took about 2 inches off of mine, texturized it ( might do more of that) and I am pleased. I had not had a professional haircut since early April.

I always cut my fingers too as my scissors is the professional one. I don't have the texturising one but must invest in one soon. I really wing the back. It takes me about three washes to finally get all the bits cut as I always leave out one bit or my arms get too tired. Thanks for the vid as its helpful. You make it seem effortless

I have been cutting my own hair for years, it is my passion and enjoyment and my zone.
I actually tape with duct tape, a mirror onto an Ikea standing light that has a flexible neck, (a lounge room sized version of a desk lamp), and put the whole thing on a foot stool for added height, and move this contraption around so l can see the right angle for the back of my head for cutting.
The lamp has no bulb in it, l just use it for the mirror and the right height to see the mirror.
I get inspiration from You Tube tutorials, and watching hairdressers like yourself for techniques.
I wanted to be a hairdresser, but that's another story.
It takes abit of time to do my own haircut, but l'm happy with the result, and l love to tinker with it and trim around the ears etc, l have an undercut pixi style.

I love your tutorial videos...very informative. You and I actually have the same style and cut; now I have to decide if I will continue to let it grow out a bit more even after the Beauty salon re- opens! Any suggestions / tips for a longer version of this style ( note.. I always stick with the messy, textured and spiky crown look... it works really well with my hair)

This was incredible to watch. Though for me it wouldn't work. I can't even cut my bangs. So I guess I will be letting my hair grow out a bit. Thanks again for the informative video. You make it look so easy....but I'm so scared!!!! I have a really short, spiky pixie. The only place that it is driving me crazy at the moment is the sides. I most likely will just tuck them behind my ear so that I don't mess it up.

I trimmed my hair and the point cutting also cut my fingers a bit LOL! I need to practice the texturizing---Also not sure if I understand how you measure the ideal length for the guide in the crown ...are your fingers all the way down to your scalp or say a half inch up from the scalp-- before you make the first cut? Overall this was a much needed video. Many thanks--I said I should have been a hair stylist instead of a nurse---more fun! I want to text you about the styling clay and cannot find your message to me. I will look again--if not I will contact you.
