    It's not a joke, they did indeed name an asteroid after me. You can look it up here: ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/tools/sbdb_l...
    I want to use this opportunity as an excuse to explain why asteroids are cool.

    • @2ndfloorsongs
      @2ndfloorsongs 23 дні тому +12

      @@lennyvalentin6485 It's not that most people didn't think Germans had a sense of humor. The normal complaint/stereotype that I hear is that Germans have a sense of humor, and they have plenty of jokes; but that either most people don't get the joke or cannot figure out why it's funny.
      But that works both ways. I'm from Texas US and in the past went to Germany quite a bit and for every German joke I didn't get there was a Texan joke that a German didn't get. So it all came out equal in the end.
      There is one German stereotype that is nothing short of stupendous: Beer
      P. S. There is one American stereotype that I can confirm: most commercial beer over here is tasteless and inferior. But in Texas you can find good beer. It's made by, you guessed it, German immigrants. 😁

      i suspect we can make physics, mathematics, chemistry and even some engineering fields easier to understand if we change the names of concepts and ideas from something quirky the author wanted to ise to something useful, and stop naming things afther the author too, like in ancient greece, they invented words for concepts that reflected the idea being adressed, using roots and suffixes even, i had a hard time in college understanding and associating some ideas because of the names choosen, because typically they were words already being used in other fields for other things totallly unrelated and it caused confusion sometimes, i feel like the language being used to describe the ideas and methods is lacking behind and becoming outdated given the enormous amount of information we create now and something has to be done.

    A great honor indeed! Reminds me of the great honor that cartoonist Gary Larson got when a type of chewing louse was named after him (Strigiphilus garylarsoni is a species of chewing louse found only on owls). Gary had long been popular with scientists as he featured intelligent animals and other creatures in his comics for decades and they honored him with this naming.
