Wise words about appreciating heavy music. People who's never had a really tough phase or maybe had it but never tried to bury the pain and anger in this type of music will never understand how liberating listening to metal can be.

Completely agree, for me it was two phases in my life, in my teenage years only Amy Lee was really capable of replicating my inner broken heart and fears into both words and emotions through her voice, much later it was Katatonia (incredibly underrated band anyway)

Dude Alex, seriously... watching your evolution of "hip-hop head" to "I listen to everything now head"... it's been a wild and fun ride thus far. I love your videos man.
I'm always going through shit, but it's been a while since I've felt like I couldn't trust myself. The last time, I was fortunate to have a new relationship where someone genuinely cared about me, enough to convince me to go to the hospital. Been together 12 years now, also been in therapy for about the same time. Far from fixed, but I'm not as broken

I was also the same way, when I was young, I only listened to hip hop, but then as I got older, I started listening to bands like Falling in reverse, bring me the horizon, and red hot chilli peppers. It's like I was able to expand my taste because I could relate to more type of music since I had more life experience.

  • @GhostlyMess
    @GhostlyMess 6 місяців тому +18

I'm so curious about the inspiration for this song, because I got so many vibes of like late 90s early 2000s metal and rock music. I didn't even catch the Papa Roach line, but the lyrics and screams (especially the "when I'm gone" scream) remind me so much of Linkin Park, and then the line "there's something in the way" just made me think of Nirvana. then I also got huge The Diary Of Jane by Breaking Benjamin vibes from this song too. either way it just feels like a blast from the past and it's incredible!
as for advice for those at their lowest, live for your future self. I know that doesn't sound great if you don't like yourself and don't think you will have a future, but what has helped me is knowing that my future self is a completely different person than who I am right now. maybe I don't feel like I deserve to move forward, but for whoever I become in the future, we both deserve to see how far I can go. life is constantly evolving and changing, some days are heavier than others, but there will come a time where living isn't scary or exhausting.
also in general, something that helped me was just appreciating small details. if you're really into music or art, dive deep into the details and appreciate the beauty. like nature? go for a walk and sit in the grass, or look up pictures of nature landscapes and notice every detail. there is beauty in everything and sometimes checking into that can make you feel even slightly better.
anyways, long comment, thanks for reading. glad Alex reacted to this, as soon as I listened to it I was so eager to see the reaction for it! have a good day everyone!

I’ve been in bad places mentally before which ended up in being taken to hospital. What I’ve learnt is to be open about those experiences because it can help other people to know that they aren’t alone, and to not feel ashamed of anything they are going through. It was a mistake I made and it took a suicide attempt for me to be forced to get help. I live with the scars but they have made me a better person and I will always be here to listen to anyone who is going through a tough time. Much love to you all ❤

I know what is like to go through a heart-wrenching time when you feel like life is not worth living. When I was in middle school I was bullied relentlessly and the teachers, the principal, and my parents tried everything to make it stop and kept on going through high school until I ended up falling over the edge and became depressed, suicidal, and angry and I was so angry that there was a part of me that wanted to go after the people that tortured me in school and kill them but every time I thought or even dreamed about it I was scared shitless of myself of who I mite become if I gave in but I kept fighting and in the end, i got the help that i need and moved on in the end life is hard and we all need to keep fight no mater what and as for the video I didn't hear any Linkin Park vides except that when he said over and over. and with that being said the song and video reaction was f-ing awesome keep it up

I try my best to channel all my darkness to some creativity and hoping to do it till my last breath. That's what gives me purpose to stay alive .

My first introduction to music was pop but it didn’t feel right and then a school friend introduced me to Iron Maiden and W.A.S.P and that was it I found my musical home. I stopped trying to be like everyone else so I could be accepted and just became myself, dressed in band t-shirts, bought a jacket and covered it in patches and tried to grow my hair long. Sure I was different to most people now but I didn’t care as I was being true to myself and it just felt right as the music spoke to me, I’ve been through dark times and occasionally still go through them but Metal has always helped me through. Now I listen to bands that most people have never heard of and my family only know about them from me talking about them but I like that.
I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t try and be like everyone else just to fit in, be true to yourself and find your own path in life and then everything will hopefully fall into place🤘

I've been through that moment. I've had a few nights where I was the last person on the planet I trusted to keep me safe.
As someone who's been there the only advice I can give is the rain will stop. The clouds will part. A new day will dawn. And I hope you're there to see it.

This one hit me hard, cause it feels like somebody turned the messages I've sent to friends while in a fucked headspace into a song.

Absolutely agree with your comments on appreciating the music. I feel thats the case with all music, music just reaches a different level of feelings. Music reaction idea julika - venom

I can't believe how true your words are for a long time music (and especially heavy metal ) was my savior and I thought I was a freak for feeling this way I thought I was the only one .. I spent almost 9 years in a very dark place with depression anxiety and panic attacks the only thing that stopped me from killing myself was heavy metal music it was my escape from reality after every time I cry and felt suicidal would put my headphones on and listen to evanescence, skillet, red, breaking benjamin, ect all bands that existed and it helped me not die of loneliness and pain, thank god I am better now and i still appreciate heavy metal like no other

I love little hints to band the artists like, a little homage you could say xD. for the newer and younger generation and ofc my or an older generation, bmth is what LP was for my generation that was born around the 90s. LP helped so many of us and BMTH is keeping on.

The one thing I can say is that every single one of us that has been through dark times like that, when you defenetly can’t trust yourself, er know that it passes. It may not be the last time those feelings come. But it will pass. Just hang in there for dear life and hope that you got the right people around you.
If you got that feeling right now and read this. We got you, and you’re never alone.
And Alex, thank you for just beeing you.

I'm a huge fan of metal and while I'm in some bad irl situations, I've never been suicidal or anything. I have some frustrations that are somewhat lessened by the music but for the most part it just appeals to me more than rap, pop, country, etc. If I like the way something sounds, I'll listen to it, unless it says something I just completely disagree with.

The best way to help with dealing with heavy dark thoughts...talk to someone, more importantly talk to someone who can help (meaning educated and not just a friend).

Best way to deal with anything, Make light of the situation and OR listen to a song, Your song a song that embodies who you are even if you don't feel like you, It'll bring you back to remember who you are and that no matter what life throws at you you'll always be you. Dealt with attempts on my life, Rough childhood, Dealing with the bad C a rare form with a 87% chance of a cure, It could leave me sterile or something, Still got a smile on my face and listening to music and doing what i do, Why ? Because you just got to roll with it, All life comes to an end, You just got to face it your way. Love ya all. {0,0} also.. i'm crazy.. but that's another story Hoot Hoot lol

Im a huge metal fan, I’ve been through so many dark places in my life and I’m only 23, but one song in particular that bring me the horizon feature on is the sigrid song… the lyric “it’s just a bad day, not a bad life” if you replay that song over and over, you’re gonna be weeping, but the relief you’ll feel after… it’ll be one of the best nights sleep you’ll ever have. Remember in Stuart little when the dad talks about silver linings? You can’t always see them, but they’re around, sometimes it just takes that deep out of courage you’ve got buried deep inside, but tomorrow is always a new day. Count your little victories, like brushing your teeth, getting out of bed, taking a shower, having a meal. The little victories often rival the huge accomplishments and you should always be proud of the fact you’ve gotten through another day. You make your own happiness, so if no one’s told you. Im proud of you ❤

Bro I have 7 important words for you: New Ice Nine Kills video is out.
Get on 'Meat and Greet' quick smart. Pour yourself a nice chianti, grab some fava beans and maybe a prime cut of lamb. But do it quietly. Y'all know what's coming.
