I'm 57 y/o, I've decided to leave my hair alone and let it lock up. 2 years ago my hair (and beard) was down to my waist but I cut it all off down to the wood. It's now about an inch - and inch½ and I'm in it now for the long haul. How ever long it takes. Changed all my hair care habits etc to accommodate my hair so it can start to lock as soon as it is long enough.

Having grown up in the pop-punk/post-hardcore/metal scene my initial inspiration for dreads was Frank Iero (MCR) when he was in Pencey Prep/having just joined MCR or Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy) when he was in Arma Angelus (political post-hardcore band from Chicago in the late 90s they ended in 2001/2 just before Fall Out Boy started, anyone here likes Rage Against The Machine? Check out Arma Angelus Pete needs to bring that shit back I swear to fucking god, they were so good, sorry I have Asperger's and ADHD pop-punk and post-hardcore bands are a passion of mine so I tend to go off on a tangent when I bring them up... Also acting... I swear I had a point I was making... Gotta try to get back to that) then as I got older you were one of my biggest inspirations being obsessed with your videos and how chill you are, I'm also a recovering alcoholic and addict so your videos are a comfort to me for bad days where I'm struggling with my soberiety and the temptation to relapse comes in strong, you help keep me present and I just got dreads as of 3 weeks ago (just the top part of my hair for now, taking the stereotypical "emo"/pop-punk hair of the mid-2000s and throwing baby dreads in I think I created something cool I know no one else in my area has ever thought of this so that's cool go follow me on Instagram @TomGladwell_95 to see the journey of my dreads and please anyone who wants to reach out in terms of offering support for my soberiety that is greatly appreciated I love getting those messages of love and support, it means the world to me, I got dreads when I hit a year and 2 months sober (had planned on doing it when I hit a year sober on the day but life happened, also the first 5 years of recovery are the hardest when getting free of addiction so for me, if I relapse the dreads go, I have to be worthy of them, that's a me thing so I hope I make it through the rest of the 5 years with the dreads, I call them my soberiety dreads because to me they stand as a promise that I'm taking soberiety seriously and not planning on relapsing - when I got sober I was told I had 2 months left to live cause of the damage I had done to myself so to be a year and 2 months sober I will be a year and 3 months sober on the 21st that's my "sober day" every month where in recovery we are taught to celebrate that date every month and use it to kinda chart our progress, atleast that's my reading of it, anyway I've rambled enough, peace and love to everyone and hey anyone have any music/film/comic book recommendations for me message me on Instagram
