What I feel about the wires hanging at the top of the poster of Kahaani actually depict the wires of tram. Everyone can understand with just a picture of tram that we are talking about Kolkata, its a self-explanatory connotation. They sought of brought all the elements of Kolkata in the image like Howrah Bridge, Tram line, Durga Pujo, Crowd which supports the ideology of "Kolkata as a character" used in the movie. Also, the Tram depot/trams had a significant spot of story building in the movie.

This 'Kahani' poster often reminds me of the 'Mahanagar' poster by Ray.

As a film student, i wanna tell u something, devdas was never into romance with ladies, he always loved and lived for alcohol, it creates a dilemma between society and his love for alcohol, bhansali changed it a bit and created it a love story, i know its good, but for me it didn't even stand near devd, just in my opinion...

The wire in Kahani movie Poster resembles of TRAM in kolkata. The wider wire shows TRAMWAY ans thinner one as you rightly say it shows the electricity.
dev d 💘 abhay deol was always ahead of time from "ek chaalis".. infact i think Arjun Reddy took some inspiration from Dev D (Kabir Singh Arjun Reddy Ka Remake So Yeah)

SSR ka byomkesh bakshi ka poster originally painted kia gaya tha from local painters jo 70's-80's mein movies ke poster paint kar ke banate the. Ye poster sab bhi wahi purane painter se hi karwaya tha. Ap wo UA-cam mein bhi interview dekh sakte ho.

The Kahaani poster: The electric lines are first drawn in Kolkata, hence your explanation can be partially correct. But there is another explanation (I am from Kolkata). Those kind of wire can only be seen over a Tram line, these are over head wire using which a Tram runs through a track. Tram line is kinda USP to denote the city Kolkata. Hence this line was draw along with the famous Howrah Bridge. Most outsiders think Howrah Bridge is enough to depict city Kolkata, but only a local director can feel that Tram line is the main USP for city Kolkata. Howard Bridge is ok but not the heart of Kolkata, but a tram line does
When I started watching this video at the back of my mind I was preying that The Kahaani poster need to be there. And thank God you added it. I very much liked this poster along with Dev D and Byomkesh.

Actually the tram wires above symbolizes, chaos, entanglement , something which the main character felt throughout the movie, ( searching for answers, rage for revenge when being calm ) that is why the wires are above her head . This is practiced in many posters and art pieces, where a symbolic representation is placed above a person's head, which shows the state of mind of that character.
Also the Byomkesh Bakshi poster is a digital painting and doesnt seem to be a filter of photoshop. The posters have a comic book cover feel, since the early stories of Byomkesh were featured with a similar style book cover.

The "bakshi" in logo byamkesh bakshy, actually spells BAKSHI. but the designer suggested it to spell BAKSH'Y' instead of BAKSH'I' so that visual alignment stay consistent. Said, Dibark Banerjee on an interview.

Calcutta was the first city in Asia to get the electric tram. The service began in 1902 between Esplanade and Kidderpore. There was a time when trams were part of the hustle & bustle of the streets of Bombay, Delhi and Kanpur also. The horses designated to run the trams came from Kabul, Afghanistan.

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy's poster is most probably a mixture of Photography and Digital Painting. A lot of concept artists also paint over photos to get a desired painting feel because photos often time might look to clean. Thus to get those brush strokes and sense of details like painting, they paint on top of photos or 3D renders.
Very nice video..i think the reason why there are electric wire is also because Kolkata is the only city which still runs trums and the movie also has many scenes around trum lines and it explored that part of Kolkata very well..it's always nice to see your videos as it always gives new point of views..
The wires in the background of "Kahani" poster belongs to the Kolkata Trams Network. The connectors in those wires are usually seen in Kolkata city where they have Tram routes. That's what I noticed...
Nice breakdown, however I would like to share my view on the wires you had talked about from the movie Kahani. That Kolkata is the city where tram is still a medium of vehicle and most of the wires are of It's. Beacuse this trum is a train kind of but runs on the roads on its own tracks. 😊
That electric wire may be represent tram line ... I am from Bengal and in Kolkata tram is still present .. In this movie vidya val an charectar shown some time in tram

I think the wire defines Trum. That is unique in kolkata. They want to capture the mood of kolkata, that's why they used it.
The wires are for tram lines, not related to usual electric wires. The trams play an important role in the movie.

I guess the electric wires are the tram line wires. As the movie has scenes on the trams that's why it is shown like that. Also one can not imagine kolkata without tram lines. As the movie was based on kolkata there are 3 things that bollywood movies usually shows... Howrah bridge, victoria memorial and trams. Two of them are here and two of them are also there in the movie
