George Gershwin got the inspiration for his Cuban Overture while on holiday in the Caribbean. He later described his stay in Cuba as a hysterical two weeks of barely any sleep. However, the hectic and intense atmosphere of the orchestral piece is briefly replaced by a quieter section that reveals that he spent some moments relaxing as well.
