    Not tested yet, but I got the info, if we upgrade the firmware to 1.0.6 it will home with CR-Touch.

      @@MyTechFun Quite sure it was 1.06 and it has an injection moulded piece on the part cooler too. I've seen many videos with a printed version. I've since installed klipper.

      Actually, the default z homing is good in that way that you homing while you have current model ongoing, so it homes with no problems.

    Hands down, i am still using my ender 5 pro, (upgraded from E5) and i had no problem with it so far. However its totally obvious that Creality became a bit arrogant and it seems like the profit is more important to them than real innovations. Its sad, because they really made a good start

      yep, I have 3 Creality Ender machines (only paid for 1 though) and all 3 are solid. the two I didn't pay for have upgraded extrusion/hotend systems. However only the S1 Pro shows any innovation and that is limited frankly to the direct drive. everything is Creality version of upgrades coming from what people have done on their own to their Ender 3s. I too am disappointed they aren't thinking bigger.

    I think the homing is in the bottom so that it can home after power loss without the print hitting the gantry. That said, I'd still prefer homing with the CR touch and now power loss recovery.

    • @MisterkeTube
      @MisterkeTube Рік тому +1

      As with every Creality printer, the true power only becomes available when you add your own version of Marlin. That WAS the power of Creality in the past: delivering something that was cheap, yet still a good basis to then tinker on. That made the Ender 3 so great, but ... all their more recent printers try to do fancy stuff at a way too high price uplift and while reducing the tinkering possibilities. A fancy flat side on an extrusion might look cool, but it's one less side a tinkerer can attach stuff to - and it probably costs more too. The same holds even for the sprite extruder: yes, it is a nice extruder/heater combo, but it doesn't allow much tinkering and does come with a serious price uplift. Somewhere Creality just lost the feeling with this audience: if you want a finished product just to print without worrying much about the technical stuff, only the Bambu Lab X1 Carbon is really good enough and if you want a printer to itself be the hobby (rather than printing stuff), then these newer Creality printers are just worse than starting with an old Ender 5 (or Pro or Plus) and then extending it with your own choice of ultimate direct extruder and hotend or adding a Klicky probe or converting to corexy or ... just being able to build Marlin without having to worry whether the screen is actually supported and will still work with the latest Marlin build ...

    I think this printer moves a lot more mass(bridge,extruder and a heavy steppermotor) than a "bed-slinger"

    Igor, can you confirm if the motherboard compartment fan is always on, or wired to part cooling? If Creality is pushing people to enclose this thing, I'd like to verify the motherboard won't smother with no part cooling, like my Ender 3 V2 was doing before I discovered that little flaw.

    Thanks for review! I've just ordered Ender-5 S1.
    And only issue that worries me a bit is Spider 1.0 nozzles, which are still quite rare..
    I often print very abrasive materials (CF/GF Nylon, PC, etc) and use hardened steel, ruby or vanadium nozzles.
    Is it possible (/ how difficult) to replace entire heater block if that becomes a problem?

    2040 extrusion for the x gantry? Heck no. People go for Carbon fiber tubes or machined/hollowed out aluminum rods, all in the name of reducing moving mass.
    Ringing is to be reduced/eliminated using input shaper.
    Convert the firmware to Klipper to make use of its potential and configure the printer as YOU want, not as engineers in China think is good for you.

      E5S1 can print on 300°C, this is the most important advantage. If you need only for PLA (or PETG, ABS, up to 240°C), then FLSUN SR. But V400 can print on higher temps too.

    Meh, it’s way overpriced. For a little more I’d purchase the Bambu labs P1P printer, which I’m actually doing soon. Creality firmware also leaves much to be desired. Speaking of firmware, you should cover the ‘professional’ firmware for the Ender 3 V2 as found of GitHub.
    No one seems to cover this gem.

      The downsize from a Bambu is that you cant repair it by youre self and the biggest issue with Bambu is that you MUST use youre phone to set it up AND Bambu knows everything what you do! What you are printing, when, etc, and they have always direct acces to youre printer.... nahhhh thats not what i want..

    What do you think of this vs Ender 3 S1 PRO?

    • @ashvanes484
      @ashvanes484 Рік тому

      I have one; it's decent. If I were you, and looking at a $500 printer, I'd bite saving up for a $700 Bambu P1P. You will get a far more innovative system. Creality isn't known for tech support anyway, so while Bambu is new and doesn't have longevity understanding yet, they seem to want to respond to their customers, so far. Disclosure: I have an S1 Pro, I have a Bambu X1, and paid for both (I also have 2 other enders I did not pay for). The Bambu is vastly better, and I am hearing a lot of great things about its $700 cousin the P1P. But, if $500 is a hard limit, the S1 Pro is very capable for typical prints.

    I have seen quite a few reviews on this printer and all have mentioned that there is an additional enclosure kit available, however, you are the first to mention that no door comes with this kit, Creality have got the XY offset for the ABL correct in this range of printers but despite them learning how to set it up correctly they have neglected to fix their legacy firmware for their other models and as many people will know their latest firmware for the Ender 5 changes the language to Chinese and despite the fact that you can change it to English it will return to Chinese after power cycling the machine, why cant Creality get it right? there is always a problem with every printer; they never ever fix these problems! bearing this in mind I could never buy another Creality machine.

    wait they are calling this an S1 but it doesn't have a Sprite direct drive extruder? Uh, what? now their naming convention makes no sense to me at all. I think Creality *sort of* listens. They see what everyone in community is fixing then add it in to a later model. But, they are not thinking ahead or innovation wise, and are going to get their lunch eaten by Bambu or the many, many clones. For example, Biqu is now shipping real printers with Klipper. Vast improvement there.

    What a great review! The printer on the other hand does not look like it prints any faster than a regular bed-slinger cartasian (outside of Creality's promotional material.) Are there any advantages to this printer over the less expensive Ender 3 s1 pro?

    • @MyTechFun
      @MyTechFun  Рік тому +1

      I thing it's biggest advantage is that the object is static. I am able to print smaller ABS parts without enclosure. But adding an enclosure is easier on this printer. Moving bed create a breeze around object, more warping in enclosure too.

    • @madderall_dot_com
      @madderall_dot_com Рік тому

      @@MyTechFun That's actually one of the main reasons why I wanted it. Until I realized there's no top on that enclosure, so hardly useful for air quality control. Feels like whatever angle I approach this device from it turns out to be a disappointment. Thank you for your advice.
