My 2016 Malibu was repaired at my local Checy dealership free of charge today. It's a know issue. They replaced the brake light and deep cleaned the headliner. Good as new. It's still covered if the warranty is up.
Do you have a repair statement/any information how your got that taken care of outside of warranty...? My dealership is trying to charge me $600 to do that.
@@mitchellpeterson3687 yeah I'll dig it out and send a pic tomorrow. I was told it was a known problem and they had set up an extended warranty on the issue. The headliner wasn't stained and looks perfect so they didn't need to replace it. I took it in as soon as it started so it wasn't bad. They did completely replace that break light and whatever seal was bad. Didn't pay a dime. They did it same day.
My 2018 malibu has been leaking for awhile and I don't know exactly how long . I don't go in my trunk very often because I work 12 hrs a day plus and go straight home from chevron. So one day popped open my trunk to retrieve some paperwork booklet from my job and it was full of mold and water. Checked the spare tire area and full of water. And rusted bolt. My overhead roof over my backseat is stain from water damage now and my backseat is also. GM said they won't fix or replace damages and it's a manufacturer default because not only am I experiencing this but hundreds of thousands others are to. Chevrolet has always been my favorite vehicle but after the fact they won't help then I will no longer purchase a vehicle by GM again. And I have to drive daily in my car to make a living in a car full of MOLD and it's disgusting!!!!!! And mold causes health issues
17 and this is my exact problem. Stains in the rear roof. Trunk full of water!! I just about gave up until my brother found this video. Going to have my car deep vacuumed. This will definitely be my last GM.
Dumb question for anyone who's done this. does the headliner just push back up pretty easily? Obviously if the headliner is pulled down far enough, it makes this job easier.
It's always smart engineering to have bolt holes on the roof. It's not like water would ever leak around those bolts. And sure it rains and the roof is exposed to extreme temperatures, but it was GM approved so it must be okay.

Bro Thanks You Very Much.Video Is Very Greatfull .Helped Me So Much
Hi
Probably loose because of vibration. I'd add some lock tite on the thread before tightening. Thanks for the video.
What a beautiful vIdeo , is just what I needed
Thanks
What size nuts are those i need to replace asap
Did you ever find out the size of the nuts?
Great video!! I would go further and add some silicon around the nuts too incase is loosen again. Poor quality control from GM. LOL
Now how am I supposed to know howto bring down headliner without damaging it if you don't show how to remove things or how you did it 🤔
Thanks this video. Very greatful.

Why not keep the brake light inside behind the seat like they used to be? I guess that is too logical.

Thank you 👍🏾
What if light is cracked on the side? Can it still be fixed or will I have to buy a whole new light?
You must buy new light

I had the same problem with mine. The bolt on the light broke in the plastic and it cause the water leaking. I put windshiel urethane and it done!
