      Thats why leaving USA is best. Why be chasing a currency that has less purchasing power every month forcing you into lower living standards and now living in trailers. This is not a dream, it is a nightmare. In Mexico, I work remotely earn $15 hour doing easy work and live like a queen- upper middle class. In US , I d be homeless

      That's true, I can't imagine paying $175,000 for a tiny home and not own the land underneath it. Where I live (Indonesia) you can still build a brick & concrete tiny house for $20-30 k, the small plot of land for around the same price in the suburbs or further out of the city. Of course land in the city centre would be about $2,000/sq meter, but you still can build the house for $20 k

      @@debraholmes2854with proper homework, I think both a condo and a tiny home can be a good medium term solution for keeping and building more of your money. The trick seems to work for those who stay at it on average 5 - 7 years.
      Both tend to be more accessible to middle income wage earners than a single family home. Have you seen the prices and property taxes on single family homes now?! Even higher earners are finding single family homes hard to afford. Rent is barely accessible to anyone right now unless you want to live in a troubled area or rural Kansas. A condo can be good if your trying to build some equity, have as investment property to rent and or you are older or have disabilities and need less maintenance responsibility. A tiny home is good if you are looking to keep more of your money and save but maybe your someone who prefers to be able to move without worrying about a lease or having to sell the home. Many tiny communities don't charge nearly as much, she's in an expensive area. Both housing options have thier cons but often its a bridge for financial stability and growth for more modest income earners.
      Yes, the US is struggling with a hyper fixation on individualism, declining since of community, and group tensions. While this is changing a little bit in recent years Ghana had very little opportunity when my parents move here in the 1980s. There are things about China and even South Korea that make me shiver. Hyper competitive culture with jobs dominted by Samsung and 14 hours of school, or a heavy handed regime compusory 996 work week. So from that prospective it's not the worst place in the world dispite bieng probably lesser than Europe or Japan. Speaking of the Korea....imagine bieng in North Korea. Its hard here on earth, and people do what they can to make things fit were they are at least content.

But it sucks because it’s still a lot of money and much too small as a living space for growing children. I couldn’t live here with more than one other adult and maybe a cat or tiny dog. I hope she can get situated somewhere she and her gremlins have pet room. I feel like many Americans are just gravitating towards this trend because they don’t believe that regular homes have any value or opportunities for anyone but the extremely wealthy (given even the lamest houses can run up to millions if they’re in the “right neighborhood “)

    They bought a house on L.I. also built new in the early 60's for $28,000. A high ranch,v3 berms, 2 baths. Sold it for $50,000 in the late 70"s. The next yr real estate shot up everywhere, house valued now over 200K.

Now I'm seeing more tinies around $80,000 to $150,000. They are also bigger 400 to 500 sq ft. They look more like small houses and have more amenities. If you can afford it and like a small but not too cramped space, it's worth it.

      I have MS, one of our children is a high level gymnast, our son wants to be a pilot(in addition to law school), plus we have a swimmer & dancer(a bit more common activities)
      There aren't many places in the country that can meet all of our needs!! Most rural areas for sure aren't going to do it. Just medical care alone can be difficult to find/coordinate outside of a major city.

      Research home and rental costs in her area, and you'll see that she made a wise investment for herself. Where I am (east coast), homes sell for $700k and up, and rent for a 2BR apartment averages over $2k. She spent $175k, and her ongoing cost is just the lot rent. That may be high compared to some places, but not in her area, or lots of others.

    • @SheilaR.08
      @SheilaR.08 Рік тому

      @Whyuwannaknow4 The cost of the home depends on size, material, and features. Lot rent depends on location, size, and amenities. I've seen lots for $300 in the sticks that were just land, no utility connections, septic, or water. This is not that, so the price, in an expensive area, is logically higher.
