I love that Chris is willing to be the butt of the joke as long as it's spreading awareness for crane conservation.
that's actually amazing. He deserves lots of recognition
I wanna hear some of the jokes I bet there was some golden comedy in there
@@KidCudiISMYLIFE , zoo
@@KidCudiISMYLIFE he once got asked if he's dating and he replied that walnut set the bar pretty high 😂 comedy gold if you ask me
I thought this was going to turn into the avian version of the horse documentary called "the zoo". My hands. Lol
"I do love your mom, but she's more like a pet to me." - Chris to his baby chicks, probably
Their offspring are raised by other cranes.

People who care this much about the conservation of nature and wildlife deserve to be well-compensated for their efforts.
💯 💯💯💯💯💯
Sadly, they aren't. Good thing the people working with the animals are there for the love of the animals (but a higher wage would *definitely* be appreciated).
Compensated with sex
That was my thought process as well, for all this work he better get paid 💰💰💰

LMAO I CANT BELIEVE WALNUT WAS PRESSED HE WAS TALKING TO THE JOURNALIST I CANT
She knows he's cheating
I like to imagine Walnut is judging her and calling her "drab" or something because her outfit is all brown.
Honestly this is really amazing and I love his mentality that because it’s a man-made problem the solution should be man-made as well. It must be to some extent awkward or uncomfortable knowing that a lot of people are going to make a joke out of this or poke fun at it. It’s really beautiful that he set aside his ego in order to help the species. He truly seems like a great soul.
You can appreciate him and still poke fun at the situation.
@@alexandratate9666 well I never said otherwise but um yea
"but they don't know" Chris please they trusted you 😩
Love how chris accepts his fatherly duty of watching eggs to appease his crane wife
Here from the incredibly well done tiktok to meet the lovely couple. 😂
tittok missed that Chris has multiple crane wives!!!
@@emilyb6692 and grandchildren! 😂
Same!
Sameeee hahaha although I already had seen the post on fb, I didn't actually youtubed it until tiktok

Love the story but really hate that you do Walnut dirty like that. The girl is in love and you are just flapping your wings and dancing with other birds. These crowes ain't loyal. Wonder what she would have done if you flapped your wings at the interview lady?😂.
"these crowes ain't loyal"
😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is the one lmfao
😂 I don't think that interview lady would have survived walnuts anger! And chris would be sleeping in the trees that night
This is...this just made my day. Not because it's a "goofy story", but for the reason, that this wrong inprinted cranes would have to live such a long life without any partner if this keeper wouldn't make such a fantastic job. Cranes mate for life, imagen how important this man is for them. This is so pure.
💖💫💖
So sorry she's now passed, what a wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime connection to a beautiful animal. So sorry, Chris. It's obvious you two were meant for each other.
"Aww, isn't that sweet?"
The cranes she killed:
Them in heaven: 😐 😐
Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute: These beautiful cranes are endangered.
Walnut: I'm the danger if you keep me from my true love and sending these birds in with me.
Poor Chris, but he seems like such a good sport about it!
Damn, he such a good dude
The overwhelming majority of keepers and staff in the zoo field are just as dedicated and passionate as Crowe. I've volunteered with keepers at two zoos, and they took making sure 'their' animals were mentally, physically, and emotionally at their best very seriously. It was inspiring, honestly.
"Chris, my man... you gotta flirt with the bird"
The phrase love bird is taken to a whole new level.
His last name is Crowe. I’m sure the irony is not lost to him.
he is so tired of hearing the jokes it doesnt affect him anymore. you can hear on his voice. he doesnt even care hes a crane husband. he owns it. this dude rocks. he attures. he loves this job and knows the importance of it and it doesnt matter if people dont understand. if i could id send him some beers. cheers
Completely agree. We need people like this in the world. He is actively making the world a better life place.
Married to a crane 😭 he will never lose 2 lies and 1 truth
This guy is literally cricket from its always sunny in Philadelphia and 100% a story line they would give him.
I thought the same thing!
Came here to say this.
thank goodness hes not being raped by rabid dogs anymore
This was my first thought. I was like Wow, Crickets clean now and has a Crane wife. Guys who fake it get it the worst though…. 🤣
And cricket has always been infatuated with the bird(sweet dee)
I have a similar bond with a 52 year old orangutan named Merah at the St. Louis Zoo where I volunteer. It’s not as close as her bond with her keepers, but I visit her so often that she recognizes me. She loves looking at pictures of players in my Baseball Hall of Famers book. There was even one time where I couldn’t visit for two months due to the pandemic. When I was finally able to visit, we saw each other and immediately ran over to the glass and I eagerly let her look at the pictures.
Edit: I have now also been letting her look at pictures of Pokémon.
Please give Merah my love. 🐒
Fun fact: Merah means Red in Malaysian/Indonesian, the national languages of the countries whomst jungles they live in
Wow that’s super cool
tell merah i said hi!
Cuuuuute
Imagine having to constantly live in Walnut's shadow, good luck to Chris' human partner

He better not peak in while she's weaving the silk garments
sjhskshsk WHERES THE LAUGHING BUTTON
I want to get your reference and I think it's not specific enough for Google to help me. Can you explain the joke? Please and thank you.
@@meganlarson4748 There's a Japanese folktale, "Tsuru Nyōbō" or "The Crane Wife." It's about a man who saves an injured crane, and then later is visited by the crane disguised as a beautiful woman who he falls in love with and marries. The man is poor, so the crane secretly weaves a silk dress for him to sell in the city for money. She does this a couple more times, but the man gets curious and peeks in the room while she's working, to discover that she's actually a crane and is plucking her feathers to turn into the dresses. When she's discovered, she turns back into a bird and flies away never to be seen again. The Decemberists have a set of songs about the story as well.
@@CalebHutchins1 thank you so much!! Awesome
@@CalebHutchins1 thanks dude 👍
Thank you for doing your job. I live near the crane foundation in Wisconsin so I understand what you are helping with in your job. It’s because of you that my grandchild will get to see cranes flying over her state every year. Thank you again.
This probably seems like a random question, but since you mentioned cranes flying over... Do they migrate in groups? I saw a flock of birds that had huge wings like cranes and made very un-goose-like sounds fly over recently (central IL, heading north/northeast) but I've never seen it before. It was quite a sight!
@@runawayfaeIX Yes, they gather in groups of thousands before migration. It's really a cool (and loud) sight to see!
@@catie9220 Awesome! Hopefully I'll see them again on their way back south.
Chris is living that odd Crane wife story.
Yup lol
That’s honestly kind of sweet. Mad respect for dedication and helping the species.
RIP Walnut. And my condolences to her husband, Chris.
Their story was amusing, but she brought a lot of attention to her species and their conservation. A great (possibly bird-husband murdering) ambassador and a fine dancer. She will be missed. ❤
You make a lovely couple! All jokes aside, complete respect for what you are doing.
Not this man talking about his sidechicks (pun intended) 😭🤣
Any negative BS Crowe gets is automatically canceled by the fact that he's helping fix a human induced problem and knowing he's officially set in the job market. Even when Walmart passes, he's still valuable in knowledge built with her.
I saw his story elsewhere, but I didn't know he had more than one crane wife! Haha. I think he's so grear
i read that the other crane wife has successfully mate with an actual male crane except Walnut
Walnut: "don't you dare take my human husband away from me!"
Rest in peace. I hope he cherishes the memories he made and shared with her until the day he dies.
Walnut: the crane that married a Crowe
"The crane that fell for her keeper"
Pretty sure there's gotta be a manga adaption for this
I'm sorry, Chris... I just heard about Walnut. You were a remarkable part of her life. May she rest in peace.
Fly high, Walnut. You were definitely a wild girl
So adorable and cute that she considers him her mate. great what they're doing for the specie.
manz literally got consent from a BIRD to impregnate it, yet a lot of men be out there not even doing that with human women. (i love how he just be using science to communicate with birds, we need more people like him)
My man has a literal bird wife.
The other side of the story is the guy "collecting genetic material" from the male crane.
I knew I'd heard of a crane named Walnut, I went to a camp by SCBI and met Chris and I think walked past Walnut's enclosure
I respect this man
Rest in peace, our sweet Walnut girl ❤ you defied so many odds. You were so incredibly loved and will be deeply missed by many. I hope the wings you have now give you everything you have ever wanted 🕊️
POV you’re here from the tiktok about the functionally married human/crane couple lol
I haven't seen that tiktok, could you share it please?

Such a genuine guy 🤗👍
RIP, Walnut, you beautiful
So THIS is what guys mean when they say "It's complicated" 🙄👌
*That guy totally mated with her.*
I hope your joking
Not physically . Gave her an something like an injection to put the fertilized egg in her
Hello, it’s nice what he’s willing to do to keep these rare animals
I love you, Walnut! You are precious!
Ohhhh okay now that you explained that I think ur a wonderful man for helping these amazing animals population grow ❤️
Chris: I wish I wasn't single.
Wallnut: Hey.
Chris: No.
Wallnut: I killed the two male just for you.
Rest in peace Walnut 🩶
This makes me think again humans are incredible creatures
This is so sweet! What a great human
poachers should be punished with animal flirting and flapping their arms around them with artificial insemination duties.😊
Multiple partners, huh! Change clothes and don't kiss one before going to other I guess 😁
Ok, but I really wanna see ya perform the crane dance
Does she become depressed when the eggs are taken/never hatch?
They give her/them a fake replacement egg and she and Chris take turns sitting on them, so I’d presume she’s fine with it.
@@dysmissme7343 how long is that gonna work for tho
I would hope once she has had enough to repopulate they will let her raise a child of her own. It would seem unfair, considering she clearly wants a baby, to not let her complete her family.
@@NotAnotherKuromi I don’t know if they mentioned it in the video but I saw a tiktok that said they didn’t let her do it in fear she would hurt then since they are cranes not humans or idk some weird half human half crane creature lol

Such a heartwarming story.
I grew up right across from the conservation center in Lake Front Royal. We used to "go close" to their property at night to get to Point O' Woods, we would hear some really crazy sounds.. like growl-ish, roar-ish, just out of place sounds; but you could tell they were coming from living things. Naturally, I always assumed they were doing some type of gene editing to bring back Dinosaurs.. I think I just never really understood the variety of Wildlife that they care for. Lol That being said they are bringing back Wooley Mammoths now so who knows where the ground work for that was engineered at...
the Crane that fell in love with a Crowe...it was meant to be
More power to you sir.take care always. it's not easy taking care of indanger species.
