Ladies and gentlemen, an important update on the silly onion head man: Fellow Channel Awesome guy Phelous just put out a review of a series of He-Man rip-offs called "Galaxy Fighters", where Onion-Head's mold, but a different paint job, does duty as the character of "Robic". The Galaxy Fighters molds were also repainted and sold as wrestling figures with generic names like "Wrestling Champions" or even simply "Wrestler". This particular version of Onion-Head looks like one of the wrestlers. A tumblr called "Knock-Off Collector" has a picture of the packaging for the figures which gives us Onion-Head's true name... Are you ready? Onion-Head's name is... Ivan The Snake Man. I feel like, even though I've learned something, I'm even further from true understanding.
This figures is actually a knockoff of Ivan, from the galaxy heroes/muscle warriors line. It's a third gen galaxy hero. Which means it's a bootleg of a bootleg of a bootleg of a knockoff of a knockoff.
The only explanation that makes even a lick of sense is that it's supposed to be some kind of a Luchador mask - but that still doesn't explain the weird pattern on it, it looks like he's wearing a wicker basket for a helmet!

At first I was confused as to why Ashens would be so disturbed by a moustachioed man, then the guns started to come out. And hey, this is one of those rare occasions where I actually had one of things on show, one of those rock fellows. Think mine might have been red though.

We never got the anime, or any of the other toys, or even an explanation of who the characters were; all they were to us were just a bunch of bizarre, enigmatic little figurines. It was just "Here's a guy made out of discarded VCR parts, figure it out your own damn self". Ultimate Muscle is a sequel to the original anime/manga, which, unlike the original, was actually dubbed into English and shown on American networks in the early 2000s. A lot of the characters from the original anime show up in ultimate muscle, so I was able to solve some mysteries from my childhood. It turns out the guy made of bricks is called Sunshine.
Christopher Hazell Which were all just local releases of toys made for the Japense supernatural/ superscientific shonen wrestling manga called Kinnikuman. That pain job looks a bit like Kinnikuman Mariposa which well, I won't get into but it's sort of a bad guy.

Hey, I had TWO of those rock dudes as a kid. I don't think they're part of the same line but we always called them 'Rock Lords'. There were Go-Bots figurines by that name (I had some of those two) and it's pretty much the same premise. From memory there was a radar antenna or something that went in his chest.
That weird wrestler thing at the 4:20 mark kind of reminds me of an anime called Kinnikuman. They released toys of it in the US under the name M.U.S.C.L.E. Things and I remember having a version with the mohawk thing and that sort of weird ribbing over its whole body. I've never watched the anime, so I'm unclear on the details, but I know there are several characters with that sort of mohawk thing going on.

I was genuinely excited when I saw the DVD was a copy of Axe and how he mentioned it was a Video Nasty (there was a huge scandal in the early to mid 80s in the UK regarding violent horror films on VHS, leading to people being prosecuted simply for owning them or carrying them at their rental shops. Hey, I had TWO of those rock dudes as a kid. I don't think they're part of the same line but we always called them 'Rock Lords'. There were Go-Bots figurines by that name (I had some of those two) and it's pretty much the same premise. From memory there was a radar antenna or something that went in his chest.

That weird wrestler thing at the 4:20 mark kind of reminds me of an anime called Kinnikuman. They released toys of it in the US under the name M.U.S.C.L.E. Things and I remember having a version with the mohawk thing and that sort of weird ribbing over its whole body.
I've never watched the anime, so I'm unclear on the details, but I know there are several characters with that sort of mohawk thing going on.

I was genuinely excited when I saw the DVD was a copy of Axe and how he mentioned it was a Video Nasty (there was a huge scandal in the early to mid 80s in the UK regarding violent horror films on VHS, leading to people being prosecuted simply for owning them or carrying them at their rental shops. Google "video nasties" to learn more. An incredibly interesting subject for fans of horror and VHS fetishists).
