Dude, I LOVE this game. It is so much fun to mess around and just chill travelling through the city with the banger of a soundtrack beating in the background listening to really satisfying web SFX. The city is the most vibrant of ANY Spider-Man game to date, no contest. You can go into the subway and swing through it, you can enter buildings (some of which where you did old missions and some of which where you can just chill out and have fun), you can enter your apartment, you can fling yourself across the entire cities from chimneys, etc. . The Harry Osborn fight is somehow one of my favourites in Spider-Man games. I mean, the starting point isn’t amazing, but once you jump off the glider it becomes so much goddamn fun. You can travel ANYWHERE in the city while fighting the Goblin, and it’s amazing. I made so much spectacular spectacle when swinging through the city and narrowly avoiding his pumpkin bombs like one cool as shite set-piece, it’s just sick as hell. You can even ENTER THE DAILY BUGLE AND WATCH HARDY OUTSIDE, GOODNESS!!! The game is just so much fun to mess around with, a lot of the missions don’t take place in iconic locations of NYC, you go to sewers, you go to Chinese museums, churches, a high-tech laboratory (Mecha-Bio-Con? Great review. I remember playing as a kid and thinking getting the black suit was the coolest thing ever. And I liked how when you used it too long it’ll basically take you over. Can’t wait to see what Insomniac does with the black suit!
Hey if you're going to do games with different versions, maybe Force Unleashed could be one for you to review in the future. As I myself had the Xbox and the Wii version and there was a lot of differences, also on a personal note, the Wii's was my favorite.
I just absolutely loved how you could feel the generational difference. I played SM3 on the PS2 initially and I was in love. When I got it on PS3, it was a completely different experience. Bigger world, better cutscenes, my only complaint was how the black suit was handled. Have such fond memories of both of these games.
Speaking of the empty subway systems, anyone felt like playing through those sections as a child or teen were kind of creepy in a way that probably exceeded the intended apprehension of having to go fight the Lizard? Like freaking Spider-Man having to descend into a liminal space, a trek into Hell itself in the form of the uncanny underbelly of New York. But then bam for some reason there's currently a massive drill machine operating in the sewers just recklessly carving a path through while Spider-Man has to run away from it. Truly odd vibes.
I want a really high skill ceiling for swinging in spider man 2, give me loads of different skill sets, web climbing, swinging along the floor, zipping from car to car etc. Give me mortal combat level combos combined with unity level precision parkour while still being able to swing basic if you don't want too get too deep in the controls. The extrinsic motivation too play would take its replay ability off the charts
It's funny because this game actually featured The Lizard which was originally supposed to be the villain of Spider-Man 4 but ended up in the first Amazing Spider-Man movie
Bruh i NEVER see ANYONE talk about Spider-Man 3 on the Wii... the webswinging was SOOOOO COOL, because you could control what hand you were swinging from flicking either the wii remote or the nunchuck. That ACTUALLY made you feel like you were web swinging but NOBODY ever talks about this.....
I've literally spent the last year (and will spend the next year) playing through all of the Spider-Man games. I am literally editing a Spider-Man 3 video AS I TYPE THIS. And what do I see on my UA-cam homepage? The same thing happened while I was making my USM video. Dammit. Oh well, at least I know other passionate creators are making awesome content about the game. This was a great video
I'm pretty sure this game had one more really good feature. When you would take the symbiote suit off after each use it becomes more difficult to take it off
This was my top 1 favourite Spider-Man game back in the day, top 2 being Spider-Man 2 on PS2. I remember when i was a kid, some mission was incredibly hard and it took me days or even weeks to pass. But it was so rewarding, especially when you learned how to do combos and get your hands on the black suit and start destroying anything. Web swinging was good but not groundbreaking like Spider-Man 2 or Spider-Man 2018. Overall controls is pretty hard to get used to though and my only grudge is spider sense is now a bar that slowly run out and not something you can use whenever you like. The soundtrack is good too. I love how they added in villains and story sections that wasn't in the movie thus making it more interesting and not predictable. I miss it, might have to go dust off my PS3 to play this again soon.
They made buildings small in Marvel's Spider-man, Spidey can barely fit in a floor, whereas Spider-Man 3's buildings look a bit more like what real life would look like
LOL at the PS2 version. That's the version I played when I was a little kid. The visuals aren't awful imo, but that framerate looked pretty rough on the PS2 version.
I enjoyed the Spider-Man game series as a kid, especially growing up & seeing & having the new ones come out that I could play. Yes there’s flaws in all of them, but boy what I’d do to go back as a youngin & play the ps2 versions
Yeah what many people don't know is that Web of Shadows was made with the same engine as Spider-Man 3. Shaba didn't have enough time to create a New one from scratch so they just modified several stuff like the combat, models and city
I was so hyped for this game but when I got it I could only get about 2/3rds the way through before it was consistently crash and freeze, even tried another copy, so never got to finish it.
As a guy who played only 2 spider man game in his life being the insomniac games seeing the older ones are interesting to me and its very cool to see what changed over the years
I really enjoyed Spider-man 3. Imo the ps2 version was better but I enjoyed both. It wasn't as good as 2 but still lots of fun, maybe it's just my bias since I am a HUGE Spider-man fan lol. I've played just about all of the Spider-man games except for edge of time, been trying to find a copy for a decent price. Also I like how ur dressed up for the video haha 😂
in SM3 on 360/PS3/PC you can actually do air tricks, the game just doesn't tell you right away or give you the chance to buy them like in SM2 on PS2, I don't remeber the exact combinations, but prob a quick google search could do the trick I just remember that the only thing that was "bad" about the air tricks is that there's like 4 tricks and that's it, not much variety
Now THIS is what I am looking for!! Hahaha what are the odds that I'm searching for a PS3 version of this game in 2023 and this video pops up lol. Ive had the ps2 version since It came out back in the day but never got around to playing the PS3 version.
You can hang people from street lights in Spider-Man 3 too, I know that because my favorite thing to do was hang enemies from the lights and beat them like piñatas
I'm glad somebody is taking this approach to reviewing some games from our childhoods, i loved sm 3 ps3 game and I replayed it even after sm ps4 and miles morales
I love Spider-Man 3 for PS2, I didn't have SM2 when I was a kid cause I couldn't find it, so this was my first Spidey game and it was a great start, being able to web swing and also having the black suit, also it had a great skill tree
3:53 Afrer recently watching Spider-Man 3 again, I had the same reaction. "I can't believe this exists". If it wasn't for the huge box office success of SM2, we never would have got the third movie, which aged like fine wine. It wasn't as good as the first 2, but still awesome because we got another Raimi Spider-Man movie. The part where Harry is chasing Peter on the glider is amazing. The game was also pretty decent. Good times.
You don’t know true fear until you were at the Green Lizard final boss and you had to spam triangle to lift up the levers while he was right behind you
the psp and ps2 version of spider man 3 is my fav just for the fact the black suit you cant just use it constantly and if you dont take it off you die and you had this mini game where you press the specific buttons to take it off and if you miss the suit forces it self back on and spiderman like stumbles back i wish the button mashing section when removing the suit was like harder and stuff
I remember hearing a rumor that you could be venom on the ps2 version if you collected all the collectibles, so I literally went everywhere around the city looking for these things
You're 100% right about prices going up. This game was 10 bucks some years back and I always put it aside. Thankfully found one for $15 on eBay compared to others that are $40 and more. Had a chance to buy Web of Shadows once for $10 and I didn't! Now it's like $80-$100.
Matty idk what you’re talking about Miles’ swing animations have way more going on than those tricks in Spider Man 2 that you mashed X to do. Also, what about those added to the actual web swinging? To me it was definitely the speed of the swinging that made 2’s so good
I got this game in high school. I didn't have it long before I left my home and my dad's PS2. I remember Spiderman 2 a lot more. There was also a PS1 game just called Spiderman that I played over and over when I was younger, mostly because of how charmingly goofy Venom waa in it.
I love Spider-Man 3 and I always will and that goes for the game as well. I actually played the PS2 version I loved the suit change mechanic and how post-game after collecting all the spider emblems you reunlock the black suit though by that point you're probably maxed out but it's fun to have. I have the PS2, PS3, PC, and PSP versions. I actually entered in the Cheese Nips contest to win a copy of the game and I actually won. I selected the PSP version. 2007 was a good year for me in terms of online contests. So yeah, I love the movie and I love the game and anyone who has the PC version of Spider-Man 3 I recommend getting the Ramimod. It pretty much lets you not only switch suits on the fly but you can play as New Goblin which was exclusive to PS3 and 360!
I'm upset you didn't talk about the amazing soundtrack; the musical scores in this game are phenomenal. The music juggles gracefully between orchestrated, tense, dramatic tracks and techno, action focused, exciting ones, sometimes even both in one song. And the city tracks- don't even get me started with the city tracks: they're peak cinematographic performances; the motifs, chord and musical progression that sound straight out of a movie- I just cannot appreciate enough the music.
I remember the webs during swinging actually had physics. Like if you attach to a building and your web hits a pole or something you begin to swing off that pole or it can even interrupt your swing. Made you think a little about where you wanted to shoot the web. The newer ps4/miles morales i think dont have that and it bums me out :/
I also bought both games. I was saving money for PS3 so i didn't get it right away, maybe year later. And Spider-Man 3 was actually first game on PS3 i had. I even went so far that i bought the game before console itself. I remember graphics were astonishing. Obviously they don't hold up anymore like some other old games hold up. Perhaps the most impressive was graphics shift from SD to HD and mechanics including better motion capture and physics. And interiors. Goddam i enjoy free acces (no loading) interiors. GTA IV and this one had ton of interiors. They both happoened to have subway system and Spider-Man even had acces to sewer. I also enjoyed Quick times. They looked cool and as you said were brutal. For story i personally loved that there was few different indivitual storylines like DeWolfe. Only problem was that it felt that story of movie didn't have much part in that. Movie events were there just because they're suppose to. Overall decent game. Part of me liking it is for nostalgia.
Its a great game for its time. Great combat. Cool side missions imo. Good swinging and the fact that you could launch yourself across the city from the daily bugle. The fighting music was really good to
Despite the studio interference with this movie it still manages to get the message across at the end and the credit song perfectly goes with the movie as the previous songs go with their movies. At this point the entire trilogy is a meme
This game has some pretty difficult boss battles, especially that second round of fighting Kraven. I always did that glitch to play as Peter Parker, where you purposely fail the daily bugle side mission by going back inside the bugle.
Man I remember the ps3 version way back when the movie came out lol, while it may not be a really good game I still remember spending long nights on the weekends playing and having a pretty good time
I played for a bit recently for my first time, my how we have progressed with the controls nowadays because these games were so complicated with such simple concepts
The ps2 version is my second favourite spider man game behind 2018. Combat has a good weight to it which is something I think the 360 version lacked and the boss fights were good fun
I used to play this game on ps3 a good amount of years ago. I remember liking it, although at the time i didnt really care for reviews and stuff. The suit "eating" on you was also there on ps3.
I’ve played the PS2 version so many times as a kid! I used to spend countless hours trying to hunt down and find all those damn meteorite fragments. But to this day, I still have never beaten the Next-Gen version of this game which I own on PS3. I should probably get around to doing that…
I really loved the fact in the ps2 version that the more you wore the black suit the harder it was to take off. In my opinion there hasnt been a single bad spiderman game (all the movie adaption games got overhated they really werent that bad) I honestly just been getting cracked spiderman games (for the older games) bc no way am I sending 220$ for a xbox 360 game thats just wild.
When I got the game back in 2007(ps2 version) I always thought that the ps3 version was better than the ps2 just because of the graphics, next gen game and quick time events but now that I have played both games throughout the years I can say the ps2 version was the superior one 😎

12:27 You could hang people from street posts in spider man 3 also
It's funny because this game actually featured The Lizard which was originally supposed to be the villain of Spider-Man 4 but ended up in the first Amazing Spider-Man movie
The Spider Man 3 on the Ps2 was my jam, literally one of my most played games in my childhood.
I actually Played This When I Was A Kid Holy Crap Nostalgia 😂😢
Seeing spiderman 3 ps2 gameplay just unlocks a memory. I played that religiously because it was one of the few I could afford as a kid. Good times
They made buildings small in Marvel's Spider-man, Spidey can barely fit in a floor, whereas Spider-Man 3's buildings look a bit more like what real life would look like
I thought Marvel's has 1:1 scale buildings?
You can still hang enemies on street posts in Spider-Man 3
LOL at the PS2 version. That's the version I played when I was a little kid. The visuals aren't awful imo, but that framerate looked pretty rough on the PS2 version.
Unironically one of my most favorite Spider-Man games. A definitive guilty pleasure of mine.
😍 I’m sorry but you look good in that spidey suit!
I enjoyed the Spider-Man game series as a kid, especially growing up & seeing & having the new ones come out that I could play. Yes there’s flaws in all of them, but boy what I’d do to go back as a youngin & play the ps2 versions
PS2 players would remember that as time went on with the black suit, the light attacks become heavy attacks and you had to take it off because of it
Spider man 3 the game is like The room of spider man games but thanks to it we got the best one of all time afterwards(Web of Shadows).
Yeah for a then next gen game it has fewer air tricks than Spider-Man 2, the PS2 Version of Spider-Man 3 had more for some reason
The lizard and kraven missions were so fun. Thats what sticks out about this game. I remember the different gangs like those lolli pop girls lmao
Good times.
You don’t know true fear until you were at the Green Lizard final boss and you had to spam triangle to lift up the levers while he was right behind you
This is the first game i ever pre ordered. Turned out i really didn't need to
the psp and ps2 version of spider man 3 is my fav just for the fact the black suit you cant just use it constantly and if you dont take it off you die and you had this mini game where you press the specific buttons to take it off and if you miss the suit forces it self back on and spiderman like stumbles back i wish the button mashing section when removing the suit was like harder and stuff
I remember hearing a rumor that you could be venom on the ps2 version if you collected all the collectibles, so I literally went everywhere around the city looking for these things
it has the best combat system so far, nothing will change my mind - lots of various combos instead of tapping two buttons
I’m glad this is your number one watched video 🙌🏻
I remember on PlayStation 3 version you could play as the new goblin
People give crap to this game, but I loved it
Theres a build of spider-man 4 which can be played using an emulator, sadly it got cancelled when the movie got cancelled
I remember playing Spiderman 3 with my PS2 as a kid and thinking... woah this looks amazing xD
“Sorry that was the suit talking” 😂😂😂
i liked getting the achievements for jumping off a building and dying and the onesones for the photography missions
To me it was definitely the speed of the swinging that made 2’s so good
he got it backwards lol
And the city tracks- don't even get me started with the city tracks: they're peak cinematographic performances; the motifs, chord and musical progression that sound straight out of a movie- I just cannot appreciate enough the music.
i remember wishing i had harry as the goblin on the 360 version 😭
Never seen any videos of this dude before. But I saw the title and had to like this video right away
I had the PSP version growing up, it's a lot like the ps2 version. I always really liked it, but obviously it's nothing compared to Spider-Man 2018.
I caught game stop slipping today for shattered dimensions for ps3 $20 and I had my $5 certificate lmao couldn’t be happier and it was cib
GREAT! I paid 48 dollars for my xbox 360 version from game x change 😬
Happy to hear so many people had a similar experience with this game and it helping through stuff. Thats why i love video games.
12:15 in the 360 version you can hang webbed up enemies from light posts!
Dude i was 7 when I played this game. And I remember the video spiderman found of the doctor becoming a lizard scared the crap out of me.
Its a great game for its time. Great combat. Cool side missions imo. Good swinging and the fact that you could launch yourself across the city from the daily bugle. The fighting music was really good to
Spider-Man 2 was nostalgia!!! That was the best Spider-Man game till this day!
That Kraven fight is ridiculous. I think someone counted up how many hits it takes to defeat him and it was like close to 2000 or something crazy
It’s a fun game a true childhood gem to be exact.
You're not wrong their
Had tons of fun playing on 360 until the endless Craven fight. I couldnt make it past there and gave up.
I remember playing sm3 on the ps3 even had one of those holographical cards with Peter punching sandman through his stomach damn miss those days ngl
12:14 You can do that in Spider-Man 3 on Xbox 360, PS3, PC as well, and it's more fun because you can hang one enemy to multible street lights.
dude you forgot the new goblin suit, the only thing worth it for the ps3 version lol
in spider man ps4 while swinging you do more tricks by doing more inputs on the analog stick. full trick list in pause menu
Man I remember the ps3 version way back when the movie came out lol, while it may not be a really good game I still remember spending long nights on the weekends playing and having a pretty good time
ive never played the xbox 360 version of spiderman 3 but i remember playing the ps2 version so much.
i literally grew up with this game it probably my favoritei played it on ps 3
I played for a bit recently for my first time, my how we have progressed with the controls nowadays because these games were so complicated with such simple concepts
Ultimate spiderman is the best ps2 spidey game imo
The ps2 version is my second favourite spider man game behind 2018. Combat has a good weight to it which is something I think the 360 version lacked and the boss fights were good fun
I remember playing this on PS3 and playing as Goblin Jr when it first came out.
Matty, didn't know this channel existed bud. long time sub on the other one.
I played this game on my 360 alot and i still love it and i still have it. I think I'll find it and play it again
I should probably get around to doing that…
U can hate spiderman 3 as much as u want but u can't deny that the level design in this game was just
"Something else"
I really loved the fact in the ps2 version that the more you wore the black suit the harder it was to take off.
In my opinion there hasnt been a single bad spiderman game (all the movie adaption games got overhated they really werent that bad)
I honestly just been getting cracked spiderman games (for the older games) bc no way am I sending 220$ for a xbox 360 game thats just wild.
When I got the game back in 2007(ps2 version) I always thought that the ps3 version was better than the ps2 just because of the graphics, next gen game and quick time events but now that I have played both games throughout the years I can say the ps2 version was the superior one 😎
