For sure! Looking back at all of the Monsterverse Godzilla movies, I think Godzilla 2014 is my favorite of the three. I still enjoy the other two (the monster fight scenes in Godzilla vs Kong were really fun, and I loved the redesigns of the Toho kaiju and soundtrack of GKOTM), but this one feels the most well-made. It's got its flaws, but I think it's a pretty solid film overall.
Kong Skull Island I feel managed to make the kaiju feel as massive and powerful as they actually are dispute being so much smaller than all the others as of that movie. KotM and GvK just don’t feel the same, with those two movies, the kaiju are already FAR bigger and you do sometimes get that one great shot, but they just don’t feel as massive and powerful as in other movies like Kong Skull Island.. but 2014 isn’t like Kotm or GvK, it’s more like Kong Skull Island with it being more grounded and feeling more real, the camera work, the lighting, the sound design, it feels so real and dramatic and terrifying.

I really wish they simulated what would happen each time he steps because imagine if his step blew up the whole scene. It would be more realistic to have mini earthquakes at least.

No, definitely not, that would be too much and it would make the movie and Godzilla kinda wack, while this keeps everything epic, every Godzilla appearance worth the waiting and that's what makes all that amazing.

I'll never forget sitting in the theater and being with the audience as they erupted with applause during this scene. It was satisfying to see one of my favorite cinematic icons get the royal treatment and this may have been his best entrance ever.

When his tail started glowing blue towards the end I was hugging my knees while crying and laughing like a maniac and my friend just didn't get it. It really says alot about how emotionally invested you are in this movie when you've seen any of the earlier ones. I just wish there was more Godzilla and Walter White, and less... everything else.
My theatre exploded the second his foot showed up. Thankfully the movie was INCREDIBLY loud, to the point I could completely feel the bass from his roar. Pure. Fucking. Magic.

This movie wasn't perfect but you know what? I grew up on Godzilla. Those movies were an important part of my childhood, and to see him return as an adult the way he did, this movie was a true return to form for the almighty king of the monsters. I can't wait to see what the planned Kaiju shared universe will bring us. All eyes on Kong Skull Island until then.

What really stood out about Gareth Edwards vision was the scale and weight conveyed in the animations and the framing. Godzilla feels HUGE and SLOW and it fills you with the awe you want to feel in the cinema.

He actually changed part of his appearance between King of the Monsters and Godzilla 2014 They went with more classic looking backplates compared to his more rocky looking ones in this movie, a bit meh for me but still awesome to look at

I do feel like that moment of silence was very well done and realistic. In real life something so absolutely intimidating, unknown and unexpected would leave anyone speechless and trying to process the situation that just unfolded before them.
The first Godzilla I saw was the one in the 90s movie everyone hated. Until this movie came out, I had no idea how important it was to Japanese cinema and culture.

God, this scene. The way everyone just stops in awe of Godzilla's stomping, the slow pan up to its face, the score stops, and that freaking ROAR. Holy hell, A+.
Also, the sound design is some of the best I've ever heard. The amount of layers in that roar. It echoes into the distance. It's quiet enough that it sounds amazing, but also just the right pitch to convey how loud that would be in reality. It would be earsplitting. Just... holy shit. Perfection.

When I saw this in the theater, my jaw dropped. The silence after he steps on the airport is extremely raw and menacing, really awesome scene.

This movie wasn't perfect but you know what? I grew up on Godzilla. Those movies were an important part of my childhood, and to see him return as an adult the way he did, this movie was a true return to form for the almighty king of the monsters. I can't wait to see what the planned Kaiju shared universe will bring us. All eyes on Kong Skull Island until then.

What really stood out about Gareth Edwards vision was the scale and weight conveyed in the animations and the framing. Godzilla feels HUGE and SLOW and it fills you with the awe you want to feel in the cinema.
And now it just seems like he’s shrunk and a lot more agile.

I will admit, I shed a few tears in the theater. That entrance was just phenomenal. How can you make The King even more badass... He truly has returned.
I definitely shed a tear too the first 10 times I saw it. They went the Jurassic Park route. Great CGI with dark lighting on the reveal, with superb sound design.

God, this scene. The way everyone just stops in awe of Godzilla's stomping, the slow pan up to its face, the score stops, and that freaking ROAR. Holy hell, A+.
Also, the sound design is some of the best I've ever heard. The amount of layers in that roar. It echoes into the distance. It's quiet enough that it sounds amazing, but also just the right pitch to convey how loud that would be in reality. It would be earsplitting. Just... holy shit. Perfection.
