My transplant has been almost 7 years ago. I had to travel 2 hours for my transplant, stayed in the hospital for 3 days and hotel for two. I did drive myself there and home afterwards. At that time I also was taking care of my mother that was also on dialysis and was there for me during my surgery. I drove two hours home, stopped and picked up my check from work and took care of myself and my mother like I was doing before my transplant. This is just to say, everyone is different. Managing your health is all in how you take it in. They said I couldn’t drive for 6 weeks, then how will things get done. I never stopped driving even leaving the hospital. I took a pillow, placed it on my belly, strapped the seatbelt and was on my way home. The more you walk after the surgery, the less pain (only had pain meds after the surgery, never took them once I left the hospital) you will have and will be able to get around just like before the transplant probably even better. My brother, who had his transplant almost 30 years ago, was amazed that I was able to get around so quickly after my transplant. It took him 3 weeks. My mindset is that nothing will ever keep me down from doing what I need and have to do.....Not even a transplant. I received my transplant 38 days after being placed on the waiting list. After being on PD dialysis for 9 months. I thank God and worked real hard to maintain my health to meet every goal in order to receive a kidney. Prayer without works is dead...Remember it’s all in your mindset on how you recover....
How did you get kidney so fast? What city and state you live in and what list did you get on? Asking for myself I was told I have to wait 7 years. Ugh and I'm young and want to live my life.
I met my husband when I was 15 he was 14 we are now in our fifties unfortunately my husband is type 1 diabetic on dialysis he my childhood sweetheart heart how can he be this sick but he is he needs a kidney transplant I pray every day I wake up he wakes up with me I just can’t loose the love of my life I can’t bare living without him I pray to Jesus everyday I know he hears my prayers I wish I could gv him mine I hate seeing him in pain no energy always tired hardly any sleep it hurts my whole heart I wish for prayers around the world thank you world
Best of luck, I hope he receives a new kidney. I am 62, and GFR is 23 - I am just starting to go thru the initial phases of testing, etc. I don’t even know what I don’t know yet, but feel blessed that my brother has offered a kidney to me. I am afraid for him mire than I am afraid for myself. I wish you the best.
I’m almost 7y with second transplant. I had quick recovery no issues adjusting. No major problems on dialysis either, however loving the freedom .... 🥰I’m from The Royal Melbourne Hospital in Australia 🇦🇺....for ever grateful towards Renal Team who have looked after me over the last 26years! 🙌❤️✝️🥰
It's really nice to hear, my transplant done just one months ago currently I'm facing acute rejection. Could you give any advice if you know? Have you faced any rejection issues? I really don't know is this happens all renal patients or not
My mom also had kidney transplant but now she is facing problem of weight gain, as per your experience what sort of exercises can a kidney patients do?
I had my transplant 11 days ago. Is it normal for the new kidney to feel swollen and sore to the touch after 11days? Feels like its getting more sensitive to the touch
Yeah I’m seriously getting more and more self conscious about my bump. I’m 5’8” and about 145 lbs so it shows. And what’s more is my normal outerwear don’t fit well. I’ve been in sweatpants ever since 03/08/2021. Will I ever put jeans back on? And if so when? And will I be able to do normal stuff again?
Hi! I will be going on a kidney translation soon and i was wondering if things got better for u? Im really self conscious about having that bump and gaining weight :/ i hope u are doing good now!!
@@paulaantunovic3038 actually I have grown into my bump and it’s not very noticeable now. Or does go down a little more than before. And I’m doing much better now. Wearing black skinny jeans again. But a bigger size lol. The weight does even put with a more active lifestyle. At least it did for me. Don’t be too worried at the start. It will be better.
I'm 31 years old with a kidney below 10%, and I feel fine. I do get occasional cramps, but besides that, there are no symptoms. I've been doing dialysis for 3 months now, and I feel I have more energy now. I knew I wasn't lazy. I was just tired. Hopefully, I get off heno soon. Just worried that it might fail, I'd have to do dialysis allover again and wait years for another one
When I was first diagnosed I wish I went earlier you see am not a very big fan of hospitals but my family made me go only for the doctors to tell me hey sit out of a 100% of kidney activity in your body yours are 14% active meaning 86% was gone meaning if I had still refused to go for another 4 weeks to month I probably be 6 feet under so all I can say thank God they caught yours before it was too late… make sure you talk to your doctors frequently
I want to be healthy. I have ckd, and it's good just want to be healthy. I might need a transplant just because I want to be healthier and have better kidneys.
