Selena could have died. Lupus alone is so tough. Should add that the body can also reject the new kidney. It is all very stressful. And giving a kidney is a wonderful gift and she has an amazing friend. She most likely saved a life. She went through all this and hid it for a long time.
Pat Wiley actually the donor goes through way more pain and recovers way more slowly than the receiver. Because that person is taking something away from their body whereas the receivers body has been longing for that one thing so they’ll heal and recover way faster and easier.

Yeah it can be, the reality is Selena probably will always be on a form of steroids called topical steroids (I could be wrong though), even though a new kidney can be a match it will get rejected as anything foreign in the body will get destroyed by the innate immune system (the other part of the immune system being the adaptive one) since it'll destroy anything thats foreign. Certain types of steroids keep the immune system (or parts of it) suppressed so the body doesn't reject it (or any other organ for that matter). I never heard of this but I am so glad she's still here, I'd be crushed if she had died, be truly saddening and I am 11 years older, she's a great girl!
Now in November 2022, Selena doesn’t even acknowledge Francia as a friend and there was no mention of her life saving deed in Selena’s documentary which makes her such an ungrateful person. I kinda lost respect on Selena.

A relative of mine was diagnosed with lupus. It hurt her. Physically and mentally. I've never seen her so broken before but people like Selena brought her hopes up and helped her get through it. Thank you Selena for being so inspirational and shedding the light on lupus.

On August 28th I donated a kidney to my boyfriend. For me it was an easy decision to make. I just felt it was meant to be this way, like how crazy was it that once we were total strangers and yet we were a perfect match. Recovery was so simple for me, I had no complications no pain. On the other hand my boyfriend had a couple complications but as god planned it he is still here with me today and recovering day by day. And the kidney is working great! We just hope to spread the word on organ donation and make people aware of how you can change someone’s life by making one selfless decision.

Knowing what actually happened now just makes Selena look like an absolute muppet who forced and coerced her "friend" into a forced donor situation. Selena's doctor who should have their license permanently revoked talked to Selena and then Selena pressured Francia into donating the kidney, Francia did not have a chance to discretely decide on her own whether or not to take this potentially life threatening procedure on or not. Francia is an absolute champion and deserves all of the good press that goes her way and Selena deserves scorn and her doctor deserves to lose their license.

traveling for a living like she does and traveling for fun sure are two different things. she has travelled, but im pretty sure she hasnt seen over half of the places shes been to. i do agree that she should take all the time she wants to chill out, but i think she has said that she likes working. shes filming a movie now and has had quite a few songs out this year already, maybe she will chill more after the film is done. but just seeing her cycling with her friends and having fun is just the same. traveling can be very draining on your body and i dont think she can do it as freely as a normal person, so i think shes just been chilling at home, which works for her since she is such a 'home person'.

I suffer from a chronic autoimmune disease like her I’m only 24 and I can honestly say it’s been the hardest thing dealing with it for these past few years..people don’t really understand it takes a toll on you mentally and physically It’s so debilitating I think she’s so strong! ❤️ and blessed to have a best friend who’s so selfless..she really saved her life! When you have a chronic autoimmune disease you get sick soo much Your immature system is so weakened and your organs can start failing at any time..it’s so sad and scary :( she’s blessed to be able to afford the best care and doctors I wish I was able to afford going to the best doctors that specialize in chronic autoimmune diseases and be able to get help :/ God bless her, may she stay on this healthy path ❤️🙏🏼

My daughter was in the same situation, systemic lupus organ of choice Kidney, 3 years of dialysis 3-6 days a week. Worked with great dr's to get her lupus under control 3 years in the transplant program, 2 months of being fully active to be considered for transplant. We got the call a kidney was available. Someone elses family made that decision, that my baby was worthy of living a new life... 9 years of lupus and living with it everyday
Great interview. The only thing I wish is that they would have explained in more detail, and for the "everyman," what about lupus prompted the urgent need for a transplant. I've been in the autoimmune game since I'm a baby (I'm 36 now), and while I don't have Lupus (I have Rheumatoid Arthritis), I'm very aware of how viciously it can attack the kidneys and cause acute renal failure. Even with RA, I've developed inflammation in my lungs over the years, and at one point there was concern the RA, yes you read that right - the Rheumatoid Arthritis - was attacking my heart. I think people need more awareness of how nasty autoimmune diseases can be, they aren't just "skin issues" or "joint swelling." So the interview kinda started out vague about why what happened, happened. EDIT: NEVERMIND, JUST SAW THE OTHER CLIP HAHAHAHAHA. I have respect for these girls. Takes some balls to talk that candidly about what is a very emotional and private process. She didn't owe any of us this. But she did it anyway because she's a good soul.
Francia is a real friend. We need people like her. Friends dont just be with you in breakups or when you got problems. Friends want to help you in your health issues. Francia teached us young girl a whole different meaning about friendship that no one has ever told us about
I have two little cousins who have each had a kidney transplant... Before their transplants, they literally had no kidneys and were depending on machines to do what kidneys normally do. Their dad ended up donating to one boy and the other got a kidney from an organ donor. What an amazing gift they both received and to see them now! They've grown so much! One is in 1st grade and the other is going to be starting kindergarten next fall. Donors are such blessings to people who need the donation!

I'm glad Selena is opening up about transplants. As a baby I had a life saving blood transfusion and at a 19 year old I had a corneal transplant to try and restore sight as I had lost most of it due to a disease. I don't know and will never know who I recieved my new cornea from but I'm forever grateful for that person for helping me save my sight. Please if you can, donate, become an organ donor, safe a life. If you are willing to receive, you should be willing to give. Life is precious and so many people die while waiting for organs. Selena's story is powerful and I respect them both immensely!

So inspiring 💜 I was my little brothers bone marrow donor and helped save his life. I’m 33 and he’s 27 but by medical science standards we are identical twins. He jokes about having a woman’s dna and that I’m the reason he’s more of an emotional person now hahaha But he’s been in remission from 2 battles of leukemia for almost 6 years now ❤️❤️❤️ The chances of a sibling even being a partial match is only 25% and we were a perfect 10/10 match! The doctors at Stanford were amazed! God is so good! It is weird knowing my dna and my cells are running through his body, it trips me out sometimes but I am so very thankful it worked out the way it did or else I wouldn’t have my baby brother here with us ❤️
I will need a kidney transplant I'm 25 and everything that I've gone through started in may of this year, I'm currently on dialysis and waiting to get approved for insurance to have the operation , my brother is willing to donate to me and I can't wait to get back to my normal life when I do get the surgery

I got a kidney in September 2023. It was from a deceased donor. I am ever grateful to him for giving me a second chance. There are 37 million adults in the US who have Chronic Kidney Disease. Shockingly 90% of those don’t even know they have it. We need to build awareness, we need early testing and above all we need each other to address this issue. Thank you again for your advocacy.

traveling for a living like she does and traveling for fun sure are two different things. she has travelled, but im pretty sure she hasnt seen over half of the places shes been to. i do agree that she should take all the time she wants to chill out, but i think she has said that she likes working. shes filming a movie now and has had quite a few songs out this year already, maybe she will chill more after the film is done. but just seeing her cycling with her friends and having fun is just the same. traveling can be very draining on your body and i dont think she can do it as freely as a normal person, so i think shes just been chilling at home, which works for her since she is such a 'home person'.

I suffer from a chronic autoimmune disease like her I’m only 24 and I can honestly say it’s been the hardest thing dealing with it for these past few years..people don’t really understand it takes a toll on you mentally and physically

That's so true! Just watched the video on how Francia found out she was a donor. The doctor broke the HIPA code by divulging to Selena that Francia was a match, before speaking to Francia. She was basically manipulated into doing this. Money and fame can get you anything.

My daughter was in the same situation, systemic lupus organ of choice Kidney, 3 years of dialysis 3-6 days a week. Worked with great dr's to get her lupus under control 3 years in the transplant program, 2 months of being fully active to be considered for transplant. We got the call a kidney was available. Someone elses family made that decision, that my baby was worthy of living a new life... 9 years of lupus and living with it everyday

Great interview. The only thing I wish is that they would have explained in more detail, and for the "everyman," what about lupus prompted the urgent need for a transplant. I've been in the autoimmune game since I'm a baby (I'm 36 now), and while I don't have Lupus (I have Rheumatoid Arthritis), I'm very aware of how viciously it can attack the kidneys and cause acute renal failure. Even with RA, I've developed inflammation in my lungs over the years, and at one point there was concern the RA, yes you read that right - the Rheumatoid Arthritis - was attacking my heart. I think people need more awareness of how nasty autoimmune diseases can be, they aren't just "skin issues" or "joint swelling." So the interview kinda started out vague about why what happened, happened. EDIT: NEVERMIND, JUST SAW THE OTHER CLIP HAHAHAHAHA. I have respect for these girls. Takes some balls to talk that candidly about what is a very emotional and private process. She didn't owe any of us this. But she did it anyway because she's a good soul.

I have two little cousins who have each had a kidney transplant... Before their transplants, they literally had no kidneys and were depending on machines to do what kidneys normally do. Their dad ended up donating to one boy and the other got a kidney from an organ donor. What an amazing gift they both received and to see them now! They've grown so much! One is in 1st grade and the other is going to be starting kindergarten next fall. Donors are such blessings to people who need the donation!

I'm glad Selena is opening up about transplants. As a baby I had a life saving blood transfusion and at a 19 year old I had a corneal transplant to try and restore sight as I had lost most of it due to a disease. I don't know and will never know who I recieved my new cornea from but I'm forever grateful for that person for helping me save my sight. Please if you can, donate, become an organ donor, safe a life. If you are willing to receive, you should be willing to give. Life is precious and so many people die while waiting for organs. Selena's story is powerful and I respect them both immensely!

So inspiring 💜 I was my little brothers bone marrow donor and helped save his life. I’m 33 and he’s 27 but by medical science standards we are identical twins. He jokes about having a woman’s dna and that I’m the reason he’s more of an emotional person now hahaha But he’s been in remission from 2 battles of leukemia for almost 6 years now ❤️❤️❤️ The chances of a sibling even being a partial match is only 25% and we were a perfect 10/10 match! The doctors at Stanford were amazed! God is so good! It is weird knowing my dna and my cells are running through his body, it trips me out sometimes but I am so very thankful it worked out the way it did or else I wouldn’t have my baby brother here with us ❤️

I will need a kidney transplant I'm 25 and everything that I've gone through started in may of this year, I'm currently on dialysis and waiting to get approved for insurance to have the operation , my brother is willing to donate to me and I can't wait to get back to my normal life when I do get the surgery
