  • Hervey Bay has some waterholes... that have been found! Not only that... a Dam in the region which is a hidden little gem, that you simply must go spend some time at!
    First stop in this one, Wongi Waterhole is a magical little spot in the Wongi State Forest, located on the Fraser Coast, not far from Maryborough. This little day use area and camping area will blow you away with it's beauty, birdlife and how quiet and unknown this place is! Tranquility is abundant at this fantastic campground!
    A short drive through the Wongi State Forest, along it's dusty dirt roads, you come to Lake Lenthall/ Lenthall Dam. This is not your everyday run of the mill dam folks! This one has an amazing day use area, with clean BBQ's, plenty of shade and tables to use... it also has showers, toilets and a washing up facility! There is a Ranger onsite 24/7, which gives you great piece of mind when you camp here... yes that's right! Camp! The facilities here for the campers would have to be the best I have EVER seen at a dam!
    Limited numbers keeps this campsite quiet, which is always a good thing!
    Boating, Fishing, Camping, Relaxing... that should be the slogan for Lake Lenthell!
    Passing through Hervey Bay or the Fraser Coast? Take an afternoon and make sure you stop and check out these 2 amazing spots! You won't regret it!
    How many Akubras will these places get?
    Hope you enjoy the clip folks, many more adventures coming your way! Make sure you Subscribe to stay up to date with the happenings here on The Wanderer AUS! Wongi was the best hangover cure for us late 70's+ lads and ladies. Diving, or makeshift rope swing in a tree, into the fresh, cool water. Before the OH&S 80's fencing and "NO" notice board civilizations. Legendary spot. Bunyips being one of them.

      Howdy mate! Yeah, I imagine, before the OH&S came in, this place would have been an amazing super secret hideaway... Watch out for those Bunyips!!

    Are they accessible without a 4 wheel drive?

    • @TheWandererAUS
      @TheWandererAUS  Рік тому

      G'day Gillian, thanks for the question, hope you enjoyed the clip! They are accessible by 2 wheel drive, as long as you really take your time down the dirt road. It is a Forestry road, and while graded, can be a little rough, especially after rain. There were 2 wheel drive cars there during my visit... just take your time, watch for the pot holes on the road, and go slow. Taking your time just means you get to enjoy the scenery longer 😀 If you end up checking them out... let me know what you think when you visit! Cheers, Rob

    We used to go there as teenagers, it’s probably our fault that you can’t have fires. Great spot can’t wait to go again it’s been way too long.

      G'day Timmy! Haha yeah... If only we still were teenagers! Haha It is a shame about the fires, but with it being a forestry... She'd go up in flames in a hurry if even a small fire got out of control I reckon! 🔥 Yeah it really is a hidden gem this one... Just off the highway too! Glad you enjoyed the clip mate. Cheers, Rob 🤠

    Yeah that's a great little spot, our doggos loved the walks around there, was a bummer the no fires, especially with the mozzies at night when we were there. Got some pretty good pics, very photogenic spot👌👌 good reviews mate

      Hi folks! Thanks for taking the time to say g'day and leave a comment! Yeah I bet the dog's loved it! Yeah, it is a shame about fires, but with so much forest around, it makes sense I suppose. Great to hear from you two again, hope all is well! Cheers, Rob!
