But if the government ever did something _really_ bad - I'm talking something that the overwhelming majority of the population absolutely detested and saw as a straight ramp downward toward takeover - then, I mean... something bad enough to cause Americans to put aside their differences and band together like this would be over before it began.
There are more firearms here in the USA than there are people, lol. More than another 50 million extra on top. There aren't that many cops.
I imagine many regions of the country and swathes of police would defect rather than lose their lives over it, too, stretching the remaining police ever further, making them less likely to fight.

There are so many press reporters following them and posted photos, video of the rioters. There is a video that squad of policemen arrested a woman in public based on social media photos of her wearing mask attacking police during riots.

@Clash Ha China government is much much stronger than Ukraine. War won't happen as actually if bloodshed can be tolerated, the PLA can overcome the rioters within 24 hours. It is only because of HK police restraint that no death has happened, and that's a great accolade to them.
In the US, protesters holding protest at airport and close down the operation can be shot on the spot, with live bullets too, not like the rubber ones that HK police has used.

I think Americans need to be taking notes on these tactics for the next big protests that come around. If the intelligence services of the West can train the guarimbas in Venezuela and aid protests in Hong Kong, why not have the rest of the world give pointers to Americans on how to carry out some decent protests?

Whether you agree/support the protesters or not, we all know that China is going to build several "Re-Education Centers" in Hong Kong and put half (or maybe more) of the Hong Kong people in these centers for years, just like they did in Xin Jiang. If you don't think China will put law-abiding people into the "camps", think again. Even people did not join the protest, they will be punished.
It does not matter whether Carrie Lam wins or the protesters win, as long as China is under a Fascist regime, Hong Kong will lose for sure.
