Because they state is the only party allowed to commit violence? That always leaves the working man at the feet of those in charge. Remaining stagnant and allowing the police and your freedom to be taken because you're afraid of violence, well, you just haven't ever had to fight for your freedom have you? It sounds easy in times of peace to criticize violence, and it is. But I'm fairly sure many Polish people decided to fight back against the Nazi's when they invaded. And some had to be shot, because, well we can't have people breaking the law now right? Sure it's a law written by the nazi's, but it's still the law right? Violence isn't the answer. I'm sure WWII would have just sorted itself out eventually
@@keisukekei5914 Problem is that the police incited this by bein the instigators. The protestors originally, all they had were regular masks, signs and eventually umbrellas. They barricaded using their bodies, not violence, this type of protesting is legitimate and non-destructive. When police keeps increasing their level of violence, you justify the minds of radical thinkers who then rely on mob mentality to recruit people who otherwise would be civil. Mob mentality is strong, it's a genetic tool we humans have, it's a survival tool. That's why as government and police, the last thing you should do is anything to incite that age old instinct. The same goes for the protestors, the more force you respond with, the police will have to as well. Although it's painful and unjust, you enable the corrupt government to take unjust decisions and create unfair laws when you respond in too much force. Because now they can paint you as criminals to the rest of the world, where as if you remain a sensible level of violence (only respond with equal or less force as a form of defense), then the government is unable to proceed with further violence. Because they will start treading the lines of human rights, this is a very powerful tool to have when recruiting international help. This will temporarily put less power in the protesters hand, but after the swing, it will give them massive control. Instigators always have a huge disadvantage in any situation, which is why as protesters you want to make sure to never blur that line with your own violence, to make the contrast between you and the oppposition as large as humanly possible. Not to mention you can use the humanity of the police, guilt and shame will bleed into their minds as time goes by, some are immune to it, but majority isn't. Because they're the same people, they feel empathy. These tactics are effective but incredibly slow, but they avoid letting government justify reactive law making and using violence. Rather than giving them a justification, they have to break the line themselves, thereby painting themselves as objectively the bad guys, to everyone else.

The police can stall, disperse crowds and minimalise the damage done, but as long as the underlying problems exist, the protests will stay. The points requested by the protesters need to be seriously discussed by the government, even if not all of them can be addressed, but the more of the demands can somehow be taken care off, the fewer people will see a need to protest, which will inevitably slow down the protest to a point where the police can reasonably deal with it.
CCP has a hard time accepting this, unless you can assure them that you didn't mean to overthrow its power. Apparantly guys in HK wanted more than simply their five demands, and this is unacceptable for CCP.

The rioters are breaking the law, im not supporting china but its not just the police in the wrong, police must do what they can to keep the peace, if there were no sacrifices or force then the world might aswell be lawless
@@keisukekei5914 Speaking out against the government in Hong Kong is currently against the law now. We can have free speech, that would be lawlessness. You realize saying you have to follow the law "because it's the law" is the party line right? I'll even give you the fact that they are using violence in some cases. Why shouldn't they?
Rather than giving them a justification, they have to break the line themselves, thereby painting themselves as objectively the bad guys, to everyone else.
the moment he said that I wanted to scoff🥶🥶
He stated that unlike the rioters he knew there is a line not to cross no matter how dire the situation is. Those riots expected the police to shoot indiscriminately just like in 1967. There are a lot of police that have same beliefs as the protesters but there is a need in enforcement
extradition thingy was due to a murderer running loose in HK
And thats the critical problem in this whole situation...there are many many protesters that wanted to let the government know they are unhappy with the situation they live in and with the laws and on the other side police force that wanted to keep the demonstrations quiet so it doesnt disturb regular people that want to get to work and keep the city safe....but on both sides there are always individuals or small groups that take this to higher level, on one side you have petrol bombs, makeshift weapons, destroying and raiding the city streets and shops and the police using excessive violence and the worst one - live rounds
And from that moment when that happens, its a cycle of violence that never ends....some rioters destroying something and using fire weapons makes the police hit harder...because police hits harder gives a weapon and reason for rioters to use more violent weapons and be more aggresive...because of that police is more brutal - etc etc...and it escalates like this
Also in my humble opinion, the storming of Legislative Council where even the police chief said they were ready to stop the raid with more than enough numbers in the building and all around and suddenly they were pulled back and that led to the smaller more radical group to destroy the place....I think that was strategic move from the higher ups to have reason to use more drastic procedures against the demonstrations and protesters as that was indeed very criminal action...there is no way to justify that however unhappy people are...thats just too much
On the other hand police firing live rounds into people and sometimes rushing too violently against people isnt justifiable as well.....both sides have their wrongs and they try to justify acts that were just wrong, like saying "protesters were throwing molotov cocktails on the ground the stop the police, it was more harmless than what police was doing" (even tho there were many footages of people throwing those fire bombs into crowd of police men as well)...just seeing the footage makes you see how from peaceful protest it became a warzone...

I think the biggest problem with these protests is just that the government did not take their request seriously.

As an American, I love it when a people decide to fight back against tyrannical governments. I applaud and commend the people of Hong Kong for fighting so passionately for their freedom. Never give up fighting, no matter how many lives it may cost you. Freedom has a price, but if you're willing to pay that price, you'll eventually succeed.

@@rheejin9987 I think the fervent supporters of the protest movement shout the loudest online. Sadly, that's how social media works, boxing us all into echo chambers.
