100% was accepting that I'd need to keep stock ride height. Would love to lower the car, but it doesn't make sense for where I live. Eventually when a weekend car is doable, I'll start to reduce functionality to it. Great video!
That’s exactly what I’m trying to avoid, trying to avoid the racing looking, sound racing car. I want to keep that elegant look with some aggressive look. I want to modified the pipes and intake but I don’t want it to sound to loud 😂 can’t have it both ways I guess 😂 love your car bro!! Looking to switch to the m series!!
7:57 were you flying a drone while driving the car??? LOL
You don’t draw a line bro! Just get another car 😂
With a mechanically virgin BMW I think about this a lot. I love the practicality of the car as it is, but would love to make some upgrades. But I've read horror stories about the simplest things like coilovers having a knock-on effect on the rest of the car. I bought a BMW because of the engineering. Do I really think I can actually make too many things better? Not sure. Would love to install a metal charge-pipe since i drive in Sport/Sport+ usually. What other mods could be considered pure upgrades, with no chance of killing my reliability and usability?
I always think about how you have to do everything almost twice because you need to set up the camera first lmao
You can make your car look, and sound good without sacrificing functionality.
My daily driver, 328i. Wheels, Carbon fiber accents (spoiler, mirrors, interior, shark fin), grille... stuff like that.
I won’t change suspension, won’t add a lip... but I’m thinking about upgrading the exhaust and intake...
I’m not trying to race, just enjoy having a fun to drive car that looks and sounds good... that can also pick up groceries.
doing a suspension doesnt have to mean going super low.
you can have a quality coilover setup that lowers the car just enough and still have good ride, its just expensive.
Depending on whether it’s your daily or you can afford to have it as a side, project car, the line will be much different.
I’m modding my daily f36 435i and am starting to realize that there will be a mod that I will install that will hugely limit the dailiness.
I would say for your street car, if you get to a point where you cant drive somewhere because of what you’ve done to your car and have to take a diff car, you’ve gone too far.
Ofc if this is also your track car etc, it’s a different story. But if it’s a street car, there shouldn’t be a street that your car can’t get to.
Love the content!
For me suspension was/is the line. Month one I accepted the fact I’ll live the stock height life. It is what it is. (But I’ll drink all the methanol lol)
I 100% agree, the streets are really bad were I live and lowering the car would just make it imposible to drive.
I don't know what I like better your M2 or your video editing. You are forgetting the garage time with your car. Some times researching and installing the car goodie is more fun than then the end function. This cycle causes going to far, easy to do.
Bro I feel you on the water puddles! I’ve come to a dead stop, reverse, and detoured 🤣 My E92 M3 is a daily for the warm months (Midwest life) and fortunately I have two other vehicles when needed.
•
I’m on stock suspension, comp wheels, non-cf lip and side skirts and high kick spoiler.
•
I’m running a modest DINAN engine and DCT tune with stage 2 Macht Schnell intake and under drive pulleys with an Armytrix valvetronic exhaust 👌🏽
•
For the most part, I’m done with exception of lowering and a brakes for the front. Any more than that I feel is overkill. Although I may get a GT4 lip for next spring 😲
•
Thanks again for a great video. I always feel like it’s very interactive with no other actual interaction except the comments 🤣👊🏽💯
100% yes for that playlist!
I can barely get out of my driveway on stock suspension 😂 rip to my front lip lol
Sick music: I guess the limit for streetablility would be the moment the car becomes an inconvenience to do your daily tasks. If you are fortunate enough pick up a cheap realible daily that is fun and can handle all the needs your street car can't. ie( inclement weather, groceries, gas mileage, reliability). Sometimes I would say buy your daily first then pick a project that way you dont have anything hindering you. Keep up the great content.
If happy for you so much Brother.. love your content. I have been following your advice ..
I had made my own Channel on UA-cam for 2 years..
I wish i can get 1000k subcriber.
If i do it will be a Dream Come True..
You earn my respect
Favorite UA-camr
Totally with you 100 percent on the mentality. Where I draw the line with street cars is anything involving cutting into the body and or interior. (Wide body fenders, Crazy Roll cages, etc). At that point you are essentially repurposing the car from what it was originally designed for.
Never thought about this.. hmmm.. btw I want your shirt hahah
A lot depends on personal taste and location. I'm in Sydney Australia where the roads are ATTROCIOUS (think New York) I simply couldn't get away with the height you're running or that lip. My M2 is lowered on MSS springs by 15mm all round and I can get away with that, but any lower and I'd be constantly avoiding places and never able to relax and enjoy the car. I'm not a carbon fan as I see it everywhere, and have found a replacement rear diffuser and front lip in ABS plastic. Looks so subtle and not as pricey.
I also draw the line at the "look at me" exhaust burbles (you nailed it in your last vid') and have stuck with a Fabspeed downpipe which sounds amazing without being obnoxious.
I draw the line at anything that would (1) get me in trouble with the authorities, (2) not be reversible if I wanted to sell the car, or (3) compromise safety and street crash-worthiness. So no head/tail light tint, downpipe, droning/loud exhaust, etc to avoid the cops. No wings or chassis mounted aero. And a cage with harnesses is an absolute no.
For reference, I'm on lower, stiffer springs; adjustable camber plates; aftermarket intake filter on an otherwise stock engine; lip and spoiler are 3M'd on; and I swap wheels and tires for track/auto-x weekends. So I'm definitely leaving some performance on the table...but its still low, good-looking, and fun to whip on track.
My PURE stage 2+ M235i is no way, what so ever, overbuilt. So what if it's 550+ hp, that's totally normal for a street car... I might have a problem.
I suffered this issue with an STI that I had. It was super low which wasn’t horrible but there were certainly places I couldn’t go, and I had to take the speed bumps in my parking garage at school at an angle. Also had a built motor which == upgraded 6 puck clutch which was a pain in the ASS to drive in traffic... certainly won’t make that same mistake on my next build 😂 might even consider bags so I can keep the aesthetic but also have a drive-able daily
i’m happy with the followingset up on my 335i f30. full bolt ons with catted downpipe. bootmod3 stage 2 and bilstein pss13 coilovers.
I'd say the more you modify your car with suspension, tune, aero. You will just make your daily routine more complicated. Avoiding puddles, speed bumps, weather etc. I would say have a daily driver where you can drive in any condition and location and save your build for the weekend.
I haven't put my lip on my g20 yet because of this reason. Now i'm getting a new front bumper thats going to be lower than stock bumper, so with or without lip i'll be scraping with the new bumper... idk what i have signed myself up for
I think the line is where most people should tread...
Where you have to think about the problems/obstacles that your car has to come across doing daily/street things...if you're making detours, you've crossed the line.
Gt4 is next, 100%
Why is your videos so quality?A UA-camr that knows what he is doing and knows what he’s talking about 💯
Just wanna know one thing... are you modding the daily??
Slightly
Thic F30 perfect then 👍
hey thic when are you doing the comparison between carry jordan and f80paul??
Hell yeah second 🤣🤣😭
My pro tip is taking my girls Kia Forte to any area that I know I’ll scrape 😆. In this case your new daily 🙌🏽. I also always worry of my wheels being stolen in public places at night all the time lmao
Maaaate, did I see a reach into the door panel there, no haldle - shades holder conversion?! That was a game changer when I used your vid for that 😂🔥
boost szn 🥳
I do find it rather annoying trying to find e85 in other states or having to bring my laptop if I ever plan on leaving the state
I live in Brazil and I have 2 cars, one for use daily and the bmw F30 for the weekends, I love so much my BM that I don’t want break anything driving daily.. by the way, congratulations for your Channel, a lot of modifications that i did in my car i learned in your videos.. Thanks dude! ✌🏻✌🏻
One thing, buy one BMW series 1 for use daily
I just got an M2 as my daily and that’s where I draw the line... I got it because it’s already perfectly set up from the factory (also my entire budget is paying for it)
Sweet
Finding the right balance is hard but well worth it when you do.
My F30 is my daily and I drew the line on suspension and exhaust. I wish I could but it isn’t practical for driving to LA for work everyday.
Stock is such a beautiful thing. Minor mods like lowering the car slightly and subtle sounding exhaust are the only things i would do.
Jon, can your daily be an Audi?? Lol
After 2 years of owning my BMW G30 (540i xDrive M-Sport) since new....I still have less than 600 miles on the clock. Due to less than ideal road conditions where I live, especially w/ 20” aftermarket forged/staggered wheel/tire package, full cat-back sport exhaust, quality front splitter, and rear diffuser...I’ve lost interest driving my so-called “show car”.
Personally the line for me is the moment it becomes a hassle. I think I’m at the point where I don’t want to add anything that detracts from being able tho jump in it and take a road trip or cruise the streets of downtown Raleigh
You should do a video on how to make the Apple CarPlay FULLSCREEN. That’s one gripe I have on the Bmw’s. It would be a great vid.
Quite an interesting topic. I agree that you can overbuild a streetcar to the point that functionality is greatly reduced. I would suggest that your location and quality of public transit have a determinative role in the direction of the build. I am fortunate here in Canada living in the suburbs and taking the GO Train (Highspeed Rail) into the office in downtown Toronto, so I do not drive a lot during the week. With COVID-19 I am fortunate to have the ability to work from my home office so I drive even less than normal i.e during the halcyon times of living in a world without a global aerosolized virus causing a pandemic. I would suggest that the four modifications that truly reduce the functionality of a streetcar would be bucket seats a roll cage for a sedan, solid motor mounts, and solid suspension bushings. With coil overs, you can always raise the car so the stance is at your discretion.
Bro, I am not one to be able to comment on "what is too much" for the daily driver. I have rocked the daily car along with 1 or 2 weekend/fun cars for the past 20/21 years. Happy you are getting a daily man, you need it 4Sho. Curious now, Mercedes C class AWD, Audi 3 series or 4 series AWD ?
I feel ya, I alternate between my M235i (that looks remarkably like your car with the white and black roof theme and carbon fiber) and my 135i. My 135i is still going strong with 200k miles on it.
The answer is always 100% no haha
Hard to know where the line is until you cross it. But when you do it’s soooooo obvious. For instance when I straight piped my car, not good, or going with 19s instead of 18s, that was a mistake. Live and learn, part of of the process.
Personally, excessive camber is where I draw the line if it's my daily, unless it's strictly a weekend/show car then by all means. But dealing with rubbing/scraping here and there, I can live with that.
perfect build and such a great video topic! I haven't done too many mods to my 4 series vert yet and already baby her so much (like stressing over door dings hardcore lol). love the look of the carbon fiber lip but since she's my daily I have to keep her practical haha. let me guess on the daily you might be getting - tesla?! from recent stories I've seen on insta! keep up the awesome content!
Daily an E85 car Specially when it's hard to find in my area
I removed my lip. I have coilover, pure stage 2 turbo on E85, xhp tune and fbo. Daily and no issues.
This was a timely video. I just added coilovers and a lip to our family daily. Then the car went to the dealer for a week. Wife forgot we added the lip and drove the car 30 feet before hitting a parking curb with it. Lesson learned.
More power=More heat=More unreliability.
Spend the money on the looks of the car and maintenance
Upgraded CSF front mount INTERCOOLER. Methanol injection. CSF oil cooler. All modifications to REDUCE heat. HOWEVER..these cars have zero cooling issues, even when tracked. Maybe on some older bmw models but certainly not the m2.
@@ThicWhips Ah nice, that's actually good to hear! Other models probably not so lucky (F10, E60, E90) based on a few friends I know.
What wheels are those
Love low but can’t go moar low due to the hassles and bad streets. Most ‘issues’ addressed with having an extra vehicle and garage.
I’m in SoCal so not sure how you deal with weather variables.
Hey man, just a quick message, I love your videos, im a minor but i love your videos, they are so fun and and i love the F30, keep going
My comfort threshhold for this topic is low - meaning as soon as I purchased my F30 which was going to be modded up - I invested in a decent daily car that I don’t have to worry about.
That being said the particular mod that makes things tough is lowering it - for all of the reasons you mentioned. At least in my opinion that is.
Great topic and video as allways🔥👍!
Suspension dude 😑
Lol really Starbucks you know that’s not in the budget and that’s going to make you go broke lmao......
What mods do y’all recommend for an F32? Just recently bought one and want to dip my feet into the world of modding
The daily is not a BMW?! I think i've just been triggered lol.
Hell yeah first 😂
Air cups
Air lift
bro that intro was sick! dope editing!! i love your videos!! keep it coming
Do a a video of the mod list on your car
Not done yet
Is a f30 a 328 or 335?
Daily is a must.
Sacrificing for functionality gets old real quick on a daily
Merely getting a flat with aftermarket wheel/tire set up is a nightmare.
civic type r
bag it .
What are those kicks man they look really sick
The Spotify playlist is a cool idea
OmG 😱 is so fire 🔥
🔥🔥
So we are maybe getting an Audi daily driver? 🤔🙈
Negative.
@@ThicWhips ou sheeesh 😂
