    Stephanie, I was at our health food store yesterday and we do have a really nice one here in town. Anyway, I found a little box of lions, mane mushrooms! I know nothing about these, but you talk about them often so I just have to try them! You said that they are good for your brain and they kind of look like a brain… Lol! I will have to look up some recipes and better cook these sooner than later so they don’t go bad. I can’t wait! 😊 Found a recipe for “crab” cakes! 🍄‍🟫🦀😊

    Thank you so much for sharing all this information about growing on the Tower Garden. By sharing all this info you will make my Tower Garden growing beginning so much easier. I plan on getting 3 of them and start growing on them starting this spring. 🙂

    Every plant enthusiast should watch Little Shop of Horrors, either version. "Feed me Seymour". I've grown a few Audrey's myself!
    Great video. Thanks for sharing.

    I make diy seed labels with a toothpick and a piece of masking tape, it looks like a tiny little flag. Kind of cheesy but it works and doesn't take up much room. I just write what it is on the tape and stick it in the rock wool cube.

    Stephanie when you say a plant ‘bolts’, what does mean?

    I bought the bulk rockwool in January 2024 and it came to $0.12 CDN per rockwool cube (13% provincial tax included) and $0.42 per cube if you buy a sheet of 98 cubes. I live in Ontario, Canada.

    Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Looking forward to having a better production and planting system following your guidance (I cleaned out my towers and am starting over)... question - what's the best way to separate out the plants (like you mentioned with the celery)?

      Here is a shorts video where I show how. Just gently pry the roots apart and tear open a rockwool halfway and place the roots inside. ua-cam.com/users/shortsNQy3yKn4D6w?si=XHvnpML1Za9zZbT9

    Hi, wondered how hard it would be to show where in the video you talk about what? I love re-watching certain sections, like this morning I wanted to double check the temp you keep your map for germination and could not find where that was exactly. Thanks

    So with the micro dwarf tomatoes, do you thin to one plant per rockwool after germination?

    After the seeds germinated/sprouted, do you still keep them on the heat mat?

    Do you use sprouting seeds or micro-green seeds for your arugula?

    • @alternativehomesteadingchannel
      @alternativehomesteadingchannel  Рік тому

      I use sprouting seeds from here. Sprouting seeds and microgreens seeds and seed package seeds are the same just using different marketing labels. There may be a slight difference in seed grade quality but essentially they are the same. www.pjatr.com/t/4-394346-305782-153185

    I noticed u don’t water after adding vermiculite?

    • @alternativehomesteadingchannel
      @alternativehomesteadingchannel  Рік тому

      No I don't. The rockwool is wet and the seeds get saturated quickly from the rockwool.

      @@alternativehomesteadingchannel Good to know. I am sure mine are staying too wet. It is hard to know just how moist they should be/should not be before I add more water. I did find some too dry and the seedlings flopped at one time when I was trying to be careful with watering. Thanks heaven they popped right back up. Do you find you give them water everyday before you see germination? They seem to be the most intolerant to too much wet before they sprout? Sorry for the detail need. Should be common sense but I am finding PRECISION is so necessary especially until they emerge.

      No problem!! I usually don't water them until after germination if they are something that germinates within 3-5 days. Some need a little water if they take longer, but not much. They should be condensating and having the "rainforest effect" inside the dome cover while germinating.
