    I topped off my indoor flex and left for week Vaca and evidently the tomato plant needed LOTS of water (rest was lettuces and 2 kale). Everything was dead 😢. No water 😮 wowza never expected it would run out that fast! Love your videos!

    For me, I like to keep them spotless, but didn’t like the work. I found a solution. Now I take the tower apart which is no work at all, put all the pieces in the base with water and 3 cups of white vinegar. The next day with the pressure washer everything comes out shiny and new. To clean the large top, I have one of those $5 kiddie pool to drop it into.

    What temperature do you keep your water in your towers during the winter? I have a very cool greenhouse and have fairly good luck with an aquarium heater. I had tomatoes last winter and kept my water at 70 degrees- greenhouse would get down to 50. Also do you change your fertilizer when they start flowering or do yu continue to use the Tower GArden A&B fertilizers. What ppm? thx so much!

    • @theaeroponictowerchannel
      @theaeroponictowerchannel 18 годин тому

      I try to keep my water at 70-75. 75 is hard as my garage is freezing the floor is concrete. I'm considering some insulation on the floor under the tower this winter. Tomatoes need the above 70 to fruit. Cool weather crops can do fine in the 60's. I don't change my fertilizer. I have found TG to be perfectly balanced for pretty much everything in the towers. I also don't worry about ppm at all in my towers. To be honest I never even check ph. It just doesn't seem to matter with the towers. I have a hydroponic system that those things do matter a little more but with Towers I have never had it make a difference to fuss with those things.

    Do you do any prep work before you move towers that have been outside all summer into your garage? Like do the peppers go through a change where they die back don’t do so well and then they recover or do they just continue to grow without issue in the garage and new environment.

    • @theaeroponictowerchannel
      @theaeroponictowerchannel День тому

      I prune the peppers back and they reflower in the garage. Usually they put off too many flowers and make tiny peppers if I don’t thin them. I don’t keep all the summer crops. I’ll toss eggplant and probably most of the squash and cucumbers. Indoor growing on a tower is best for cool weather crops like bok choys, kale, lettuce, herbs, turnips……

      It's hit or miss. I have before but usually it's a little too cold in my garage and things like that indoors don't usually give you enough food to make it worth the hastle of babying them. I find it better to grow things that thrive indoors that put a lot of food on the table quickly.

    My doctor says the same thing. He told me to make sure I get enough protein, but to focus on my nutrient intake in order to promote healing. I've been fighting chronic sepsis since 2017. Every medical professional I've come across has said I shouldn''t be alive. I truly believe that my diet and God's grace are what's keeping me going. There were a couple of years where the only food I had access to was highly processed. I was getting loads of protein, but very little nutrients.... and my body suffered greatly! I could see a difference immediately when my diet changed. Nutrient dense food is so important. Granted, we do definitely need protein, but some tend to only focus on the protein and forget how much our bodies need those nutrients! My brother-in-law is a body builder and he was focusing on tons of protein, but not really worrying about how many nutrients he was taking in. He has a lot of muscle, but his endurance is very low. His immune system is also shot! He's very sickly. It's so sad to see. Hard to believe that someone like myself (chronically septic) can fight a virus off quickly, but a younger supposedly healthy individual catches everything and doesn't recuperate well. I'm a true believer in clean, nutrient dense food. Steff, it's amazing how you went from basically being chronically ill to healthy and vibrant. I realize these results didn't happen over night, but your hard work is truly paying off. You're such an inspiration! You go girl!!! Thanks for sharing! God Bless!!!👍🙏❤😊

      Thank you for sharing your story!! I have found if the focus is nutrient rich food you end up with enough protein by default. God gave us amazing bodies that want to heal with the things he created. All this fake food is destroying people. It breaks my heart.

    I stumbled on your channel in the middle of our property search in western NC last year. It definitely motivated us to pull the trigger on a property that we found and ultimately closed on in the summer. Raw, unimproved land with so many possibilities! What became crystal clear to us after moving up from FL is that the food system we are still reliant upon is fundamentally broken. I will spare the theology points, save to say that a tree can be known by its fruit. And a lot of what is peddled to the uninformed consumer is rotten to the core. Resiliency is the name of the game in these times. The more one can decouple from the systems that keep us sick and broken, the better off we will all be. Blessings and thanks for all you do and share!

    Those pesky caterpillars!! They just love bok choy. On my greens-only towers I leave the circular trellis in place and drape over some mosquito netting and a bungee around the bottom for a perfect harvest. Of course, I don’t leave them out completely and do have a few sacrificial cabbage heads for them on the pepper tower.

      I have thought about the netting but I interval plant and harvest daily. I'm afraid that would be a daily pain to fuss with. I love the idea though. Especially if an entire tower was set up with something like cabbage. They are after my cabbage right now.

      What methods have you tried? The flowers will drop if the temps are too high.

    Thanks Stephanie! You have really inspired me on so many levels. I’ve sprouted, grown micro greens but never got into hydroponics. Now thats going to be a new challenge for me. Also, because of you, I bought a few mushroom blocks at my local farmers market! Keep up the good work!
