  • OM is sounded millions of times each day. Gabriella Burnel speaks about OM, discussing the component sounds, their meaning and effects. Then she sounds OM three times.
    Chanting and sounding mantras has a beneficial effect. John Blofeld writes about OM: 'It's the initial syllable of almost all mantras. It embodies tremendous creative power. It represents the infinite, the one mind, the all-embracing consciousness which is the very essence of existence."
    It's good to sit comfortably with a straight back when sounding OM. In the video background you can the Sanskrit alphabet displayed.
    The School of Philosophy and Economic Science offers courses in practical philosophy and economics with justice as well as other subjects. It aims to approach philosophy in a practical way, encouraging students to apply philosophy in their lives. The School also introduces a mindfulness-type exercise leading eventually to mantra meditation.

    Thank you so much for the video.I am the worshipper of the holy name of the Brahman.My Gurudev Swami Swarupananda Paramhansadev experimented on different mantras like hring,cling,shring,oing,etc . He uttered a mantra one hundred thousand times and amazingly heard that that the sound becomes OM.Even God , Saraswati these types of name mantras are also becoming Om..So he concluded all mantras are from OM and the final destination is OM.

    Such a beautiful and stilling presentation - join in and notice the harmony and equanimity that this brings. An excellent way to start the day.

    Thankyou Gabriella. Your explanation on Pranav i:e ohm seems to be studied well and with reverence. The importance of the 4th part was a bit revealing to me for the first time. This 4th part has great importance. Thanks once again.

    To occasional chant Om is possible harmless, but isn't fairly it generally given the Om as a mantra is for the recluse, not the householder?

    • @Philosophycourse
      @Philosophycourse  2 роки тому

      Thank you for your comment. Full meditation on Om is for the recluse, yes. But occasional chanting of this ancient sound can be very stilling and helpful.
