Unveiling the UPANISHAD: Swami Sarvapriyananda
Swami Sarvapriyananda, from the Vedanta Society of New York, was a guest speaker at Waterperry House on 1st Aug 2024.
The people attending the week-long retreat were focusing on two verses from the Mundaka Upanishad with the commentary of Shankara. Swami Sarvapriyananda addressed the gathering generally and in particular on the subject of verses 2.2.7 and 2.2.8.

How to Overcome Life's Toughest Challenges
Переглядів 51621 годину тому
Kenneth Douglas explains how philosophy has helped him by bringing a sense of calm. Meditation has helped wash everything away, so as to start fresh every time. Meditation wipes away thoughts, worries and allows freshness, it gives a pause in the day. You can learn from a lot of different sources in the philosophy course - and discuss and learn from each other. One thing to consider is, how do ...

Finding Nature's Rhythm | Shane Mulhall
Переглядів 941Місяць тому
Do you feel aligned with nature? Is everything flowing nicely for you? When we stop trying to force things to happen, the more magic will return to our lives. We can't force the good to happen - we can only allow it. We can let go our own rushed pace and discover nature's timing, nature's rhythm. Glue is such a good example. We read the instructions and then think we can rush it, do it all fast...
4 Levels of Speech - are you using them all?
Переглядів 2,5 тис.2 місяці тому
Donald Lambie's lecture in Trinidad in October 2023 addresses the subject of speech. Everyone faces a point where they have to decide to be truthful. One Vedic maxim says: One should speak the truth; one should speak what is pleasant. One should not speak what is true but unpleasant; one should not speak what is pleasant but untrue. Speaking truthfully and pleasantly is not always so easy. It's...

Another brilliant talk Swamiji, in a different style though to roll with the distinguished audience! Maharaj, when you talk about the heart-centered meditation/contemplation, I presume it's not the anatomic heart located on the left side in the chest. My understanding is that we are focussing on the ' spiritual heart ' located slightly to the right of midline corresponding to the thoracic Chakra - the sympathetic parasympathetic plexus. Thanks very much 🙏
I know…u don’t know, I have read a lot of texts and so I am closer to god…There are people listening to me so what I say must be true and be useful to you, god needs you to “know” a lot of stuff before u can reach him….😂
Many pranams to you Swamiji🙏🙏🕉️🙏🙏
Many thanks for this elegant description.
. ❤
Swami is the Best. God bless him...🙏🙏🙏
You keep saying that is not advaita Vedanta..you should have said that is not Kevla advaita or sankara advaita. You are neither the owner of advaita nor the authority on advaita. You are one of the interpreters of advaita Vedanta.
It's okay not to be okay with others' beliefs but it's not okay to laugh at them.
Basically you are victim of your own definition. No one has seen light….can only see objects through light. Space and time are not causal. Consciousness cannot be cause for space and time.
What a magnificent exposition❤ Immersed in BRAHMAN
I am repeating my earlier statement that I have neither seen or heard Swami Vivekanand but listening (shravan) to Swami Sarvapriyanand I imagine that Swami Vivekanand is talking. 🙏
Swami Sarvapriyananda ji is ❤🙏🏼
In a series of talks, this is another jewel. Hope many will be inspired and enlightened! Thanks Swamiji!🙏🪔🕉

The firewood in upnisadic time was presented to gurus by a sincere disciple ,when he went there for clarification. The firewood was needed there always to keep the fire burning throughout ,hence an important gift to be given to gurus in upnisadic times. But ,even now it's just taken in literal meaning by ignorant novices! One incident some old monks referered was --,a foreign disciple once visited Belur Math ( in Calcutta) and one big bundle he was always carring cautiously ,till he met the president. There ,when he met president, he placed it near president's feet & with folded hands asked ,--revered Sir ,here is my gift ,I have a question to ask. When the bundle was ultimately opened ,it was the firewood required for yagna fire ( which the present time are not at all that precious, as the system of continuous ignition of fire in guru's home is not required). Hence ,little knowledge is often become disastrous!
Wonderful talk, Swami 🙏 Jai Sri Ramakrishna 🌺 Jai Ma 🌺 Jai Swamiji 🌺🙏
Pranam....
The last question by the blonde woman - I fell asleep twice during the long question! Jeez ..
That happens all the time with people, even those who have good questions. Swamiji has this amazing way of extracting the gist from what people ask in ways that surprise the questioners too! But frankly this turned out to be quite profound (at least to me)
@@tvm73827 I agree though people should clearly formulate the question in their minds before raising their hands to speak.
Aum Tat Sat! 🪔

This is beautiful. Very well worth listening all the way through. I found myself at points thinking, 'not sure about that ' and realising he was challenging my habitual thoughts and then a few minutes later all is resolved. Thank you so much for making this available.
Pranam Guruji 🙏
Swami Sarvapriyananda is the rock star of Advaita. Listening to him brings the music of spheres to us here, now and everywhere; he shares his knowledge and profound wisdom widely with love and generosity, thank you.
Not rock star A shining star indeed !
This Saint has greatly influenced our spiritual progress. He is the real deal! Judy and I have been following him since we saw a Rupert Spira Podcast interviewing him over 2 years ago. We now listen to his podcast every day and he has led us to the next level. Yes we are all Sat,Chit,Ananda but wonderfully he speaks to us directly as the Atman. What an inspiration. A true Blessing. Thank you Mr. Lambie.
I come back to him over and over. But still im in looping for deva and so on. Guru stay still, always same 🙏
Yes ,yes ,yes. It's a blessing indeed !
truee🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Knowing oneself as 'essentially' as Sat-Chit-Ananda, the Atman, is the first step, very important, this is self-knowledge, the 'jnana'. But th is knowledge is consummated only when we go further and learn to see the Self (Brahman) manifesting as all names and forms. Thus, we come to realise that, Brahman is Satyam, and Jagat (the phenomenal world of experiences of names and forms) is Satyam, too. Jagat is a manifestation of the 'Power' of Brahman, just as heat is a manifestation of fire. When Truth is quiet, we call it Brahman, when it is active in creation, preservation and dissolution, we call it Shakti (the Power of Brahman). This way of viewing Truth gives us clarity and inspiration from our study of the Bhagavad Gita. This is not to dismiss the need to work on getting rid of our 'vasanas' (deep-rooted mental impressions), as a prelude to spiritual fulfillment, but knowing that the vasanas also are manifestation of the Shakti, makes us go a bit gentle on ourselves. Self-perfection takes time. Listening to scriptures being explained by a qualified teacher is 'shravanam'. This gets rid of ignorance. Reflecting on what we learn and getting our doubts cleared is 'mananam'. This process gets rid of doubts. Unless our understanding is 100% clear, the final journey is problematic. The final step is, scraping our vasanas away, the impressions created deep in our mind by our experiences, particularly those that stifle our sense-control and freedom from the duality of attachment-aversion. Enjoy.
Beautiful
Such an honor to help spread the word. 🙏🏿
