I used this pattern design to make a holder for the blades for my food processor. I didn't want to cut myself each time I pulled them out of the cabinet. I made a couple of changes, like using iron-on fleece for the batting and adding Velcro tabs to seal it shut. Now I can safely find the blades for the food processor. Thank you for all of the great videos you share for everyone. You are a true blessing for people who have dyslexia and are unable to follow written patterns.
I used these instructions to make a small project bag. Just added Velcro to close. It holds my pens, pencils, spoon, wooden poker and rotary cutter. Now to make larger project bags for my cross stitch. Luv your instructional videos.
Thank you so much for this project it will make cute gift with you decorated towel videos. Love your teaching style I love to sew and make things for people and you really have nice tutorials. Happy new year to you and yours
I've made a few of these and I think it important to use 100% cotton thread (as well as cotton fabric & batting) for a microwaveable bag. A polyester might melt.
Just want to say instructions are great. I like these directions because it is easier on sewing machine by having the flap . With the flap you are not overlapping the top and bottom, thereby having only 6 layers to sew instead of 9 . Your 1/2 inch seam allowance should be big enough so you are not sewing on the seam allowance you turned inside or you would be sewing over 12 layers. Hope this isn't too confusing
Such a shame that this product is not widely available in the UK, but 😉 30 mins ago I took delivery of the 'Wrap 'n Zap' to sew some soup bowl cozies. So glad that I found your tutorial as I'm sure that I'll have enough left to make a potato 'zapper'. Love your channel ❤️
I make these & sell @ farmer's market. I have decided to alter the size by making them a little wider. One lady told me she cooks corn on the cob in hers; haven't tried that yet.
Hi Darlene. If you used an synthetic/polyester type of material, it could melt a little. That is why you should use 100% cotton fabrics. Thanks for watching💗 and happy sewing😍
You can buy a red potato bag on ebay for two australian dollars, buy a few as they get stained fairly quickly and using any kind of cleaning agent would not be a healthy choice.
Hi Michelle. Only the quilt cotton fabrics come in fat quarter size. The Pellon comes in larger sizes and they are pre-packaged. Hope this helps. Glad you liked the potato zapper bag tutorial. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍
@@TheSewingRoomChannel you said the wrap n zap says to use fat quarters. My wrap n zap bag does not say that. I don't use fat quarters if I can help it.
Hi Jo Anne. I usually save my scraps in a small plastic tub. I use my scraps to make pot holders, drink coasters, sachet bags, small zipper pouches, pin cushions, etc. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.
I do have a question. Has the potato batting been improved? I made some several years ago for gifts and low and behold they caught fire in the microwave. I would love to make these again . That pattern looks fantastic. . They worked great in the microwave until they caught on fire, that was embarrassing 😊
53sweetums the cotton batting must be 100% cotton without any scrim. Some pkgs that say “cotton batting” will also say on the pkg if there is any other filler. Also be sure the thread and fabric is 100% cotton. Synthetics in any of the three will not withstand microwaving. (That was emphasized & pointed out out to me by a fabric store employee ~ synthetics can melt and heat up differently than cotton, so if for example your fabric is cotton but not the batting, the cotton can catch fire from the more excessive heat generated from the batting). I hope that helps.
Okay thank you. I am the one then who did it wrong. I used 100% batting and cotton thread but I used material I had for years in my stash and bet it was not 100% cotton. I am going to try again . This time with cotton fabric. Thanks.
I understand the situation for sure. I have stuff around that I don't remember what the content is anymore myself. Not too long ago I made a specialized pot holder for a friend's birthday present and had to go out and buy all new material because labels and wrappers and end stickers had been removed or lost long ago. I didn't need a lot, but I had to get batting, material, and even thread. So, you are not alone in that journey. Good luck with the new project.
YOU MADE A 6 POCKET PURSE SOME TIME BACK I LOST THE PATTERN TO THAT COULD YOU PLAY THAT VIDEO AGAIN I MADE 2 THEY CAME OUT REAL GOOD WONT TO MAKE ONE FOR A FRIEND THINK YOU

Linda, what do you charge for a potatoe bag?
Nice tutorial. Also be sure to use 100% cotton thread. 👍❣️
How many layers of batting is it safe to cut on the go cutter?
I have a question, I made two potato bags with 100% cotton material, wrap and zap batting also 100% cotton thread. So what would make it catch on,fire
Hi Darlene. If you used an synthetic/polyester type of material, it could melt a little. That is why you should use 100% cotton fabrics. Thanks for watching💗 and happy sewing😍
Pellon makes wrap-n-zap 100% natural cotton batting. It comes with this pattern.
Hi Jean. Thanks for sharing! 😀❤️
Thank you for sharing .
I'll add this...I always start baked potatoes in the microwave (though I've never used a zap bag)...and then finish off in the oven or toaster oven.

My pellon doesn't mention fat quarters

what can i make from the scraps of wrap n zap?

The fabric, batting, and thread has to be 100% cotton; anything else will either melt or catch fire.

Good idea to test a fabric scrap first!

For Christ sake lower those caps and learn to use some punctuation! Correct spelling would be great too!
