I completed my 5 x 50 retaining wall by watching all your retaining wall related videos. The team that did the work was new to retaining walls. I explained them step by step. Now they are experts building walls and have done many small size wall projects. Really appreciate what you are doing educating people.
Small version of the Wall Of China but way BETTER. Nicely done and waiting on paver & grass installments. Great job done by all. Your Straw Boss did a fantastic job. Kudos.
Love seeing this project come together like this. Can't help but to think how much the customer is paying for all this work. Keep up the great videos, Stan!
Ok Stan, so my mother-in-law saw the tail end of this video. Her first words post were,”when’s the next one?” Really enjoying this series. Been a subscriber for at least two years. I remember you saying you really needed an articulating head on your excavator while building a huge stone retaining wall. Keep them coming. Your making a retired Coast Guardmans motivation to keep going
I used to be the Mechanic for the Company that I worked with when I was a Landscape Engineer (before I hurt my back 6 years ago), and Preventative Maintenance was the Key! Every Saturday (and possibly Sunday) I would review all of the Machinery, and replace Rollers, Oil Changes (every month). Every morning, I would come in an Hour before the Crew, and Grease Everything, Fuel, and warm up all of the Equipment that was to be used for the day. There where alot of days that I would work from 5am until 11pm to make sure "The Cogs of the Company" where reliable! I miss that Crew and Job SO MUCH!!! You have a great Crew Stan. 👍
Thanks for putting a job together from start to finish, having never worked in this business and now retired, it is much easier for this old guy to follow. Thanks.
House prices around here are crazy and new houses just aren't available. So a lot of people are building their life long homes. I am doing that up north. Instead of selling and searching. Just build it the way you want. It works for many .
Hey Stanley, you have the right idea, in the past I was all bobcat. Now with have bobcat t595 , jcb 270t and kubota svl75-3 on it's way. Different applications, asv is great in the snow
Enjoying this series, waiting on the patio videos. Your explanations of the how’s and whys of what you all do definitely is a draw for me. You all do things correctly without cutting corners. It was cool to see Sam doing the maintenance to show that everything is not all sunshine and roses. That there are certain things that need to be done and unfortunately there is down time. Very interesting about those tracks. It’s gonna be cool to see Josh from Stoney Ridge Farm up there with y’all. WOOOO!
My company makes composite railroad ties. They work great for retaining walls. They wont rot, wont get infested with bugs and so on. Its easy to pin them together, can allow water drainage, and so on. They are a great building material for decking, retaining walls, and corner posts for fencing. We also can make 4×4 which can hold vertical loading and wont rot.
They move slightly like how wood does. They expand and contract slight but no real twisting. They depending on thickness and support they wont bend downward when it comes to decking
@@Dirtmonkey we made a mock telephone pole and with no support it has only slightly bent from the heat. Maybe a 1 foot over 20+ feet but thats free standing and over a few years
I’ve been in landscape construction now for 18 years and I can tell you that this landscape crew is legit and obviously takes a lot of pride in their work. These types of walls are an insane amount of work and to do them right is even more work. Great job you guys.
Thanks for the great videos! Keep them coming. Brings me back to the "Good old days" when I used to do this! Not 11' walls but hardscape and landscape projects.👊
One thing I have learned is those pins must remain greased and MAKE SURE they don't wear out. Once they fry the bushing and start wearing grooves in the pins they are a royal pain in the butt to get out. Keep up the hard work and great content! 👍
Hi Stan...I have been watching your videos probably a year, give or take. But i happened to run across the video you did 2 yrs ago, where you explain how you got started. And how you "graduated" from one thing to the next. Just to let you know, you answered so many questions i had. You all do great work, and I can see the work ethic you possess is somehow injected into your men to the point that you dont need to be there. And yes alot of that is because they are talented men, but ALSO they want to make you proud and dont want to let you down! You're an insiration Stan, and God has surely blessed you and ALL your hard work from the bottom.and now to the high level you are at today. His blessings shine all over you and your company. Great..Great..content..love it!
@@Dirtmonkey - I have used your hard scape tips/tricks to landscape my backyard. Yeah I saved a fortune. More so, I couldn't afford such luxury. But the info provided made it possible for me to labour myself, making materials affordable on a project by project basis. So yes, your efforts are worth while and you don't know the gravity of positive impacts. Cheers... and I hope your efforts are profitable.
Love your jobs, wish all trades/construction workers were as conscientious as you. As a client I’d leave you to it knowing I got an A1 job and what I paid for. Great work ethic and completely trustworthy 👍 you deserve a thriving business. Respect and admiration from Britain 🇬🇧🇺🇸
Thank you Stan. Great stuff as always. Even just to watch your awesome team doing their great works. I appreciate the explanation of how the weeping works in these tall walls.
Heck yeah brother I'm always happy to see your vids. I don't know how much more ur game but as long as you do I will watch every single one thanks Stan
Good work on the yard. I enjoy all your videos. But I wanted to say you have a great crew. Sam seems like an AWESOME guy and he does good at getting the video clips
Putting your name and date on your project is neat. I redid the siding on my home and one of the peices I took off had the company name date from 1956 and that it cost 250 bucks on the siding and then on the studs there was a another note with the date and saying 2 guys built it in 1 week, along with empty beer cans in the wall cavities.
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe the homeowner has already thought of that. I just be concerned if they drove railings into the ground how would it affect the retaining wall. Would it eventually compromise it? I hoping Stan has talked to the homeowner about options.
I asked him about this 2 videos ago, foreseeing this. He said you can put a fence in very close using the traditional method, your only spacing needed is for the correct diameter hole to concrete in the posts. Or there are kits you can use to install it directly behind the wall.
We have a pool fence installled like that around our versa Lok. It has held nicely. Being an aluminum fence it may not keep you from falling off if you ran at it full speed, but it is a nice reminder for bigger guys and a definite stopper for smaller individuals and children. It can work.
Doing the same work in Finland, and i have enjoyed watching how you guys do your thing. stone work seems to be pretty universal, i think your guys would fit right in on our crew.

Damn that’s a nice wall. I’ll bet that’s a quarter million dollar job. Neighbors will be jealous.
It’s up there. They should of just moved. Will never recoup their investment with resale
@@Ptro1 That’s true. I’d love to have a wall put in my backyard. Would probably be about $50,000. But I’d never get it back When I sold the house.

That yard is going to need a might good safety railing system. Falling over that edge could be a deadly neck breaker.
