He said if he was going to do a video, he'd do it his way. And his way was to tie his video to a cause. Once in a generation artist and a good human being.
My wife was a 100% disabled veteran, 6 years ago she took her life, 2 weeks after our youngest daughter graduated from high school. Another Christmas is coming and my girls and I will still light a candle and set a place for her, the pain in their eyes still hurts more the missing Laurie. I don’t think the living ever get over this pain. The quilt that comes with this will never stop, how did I not see it coming, to even why wasn’t I good enough to make her better. The emptiness was there at their college graduations and both their weddings, such wonderful times with that huge price missing. Please if anyone is thinking suicide, call for help there is no shame in saying you need. You make this world better wether you see it or not, just know I SEE IT TODAY, I promise you, you stay here and one day you will see just how beautiful you are.
Chris created this music video because his label kept bugging him to make a video for his album, so being the amazing man he is, he said he was going to make this video. He said he didn’t want to be in the video, he wanted it to make a statement and he wanted to raise awareness. He said he didn’t want a video that was just focused on him, he wanted a video that would hopefully help make the world a better place. Keep up making a change guys, even if you only change a couple ppls lives, those lives matter and they can go on to help other people. The ripple effect! ❤️❤️
We live with mental illness everyday. I am so glad you did this video. His interview about this video was so heartfelt. I enjoy y'all a lot. Thank you and blessings, Pam
Thank You for reacting to the video.I usually do not ask reactors to watch official videos if they have done the song live version but this song topic is so important that I had to ask
Darcy, thanks for requesting. Hadn't seen this before, and wow... powerful message. There are so many variations on the theme of things that effect mental/emotional wellness.
Never seen this video before. It popped up in my recommended you guys reacting to it. I lost my dad 9 years ago when I was 17 the same exact way he lost his wife in the video. He died in my arms though waiting for the responders to arrive to our house. What a powerful video. Thanks for sharing, and being sympathetic to a situation.
Valerie Castleman-Ferguson So sorry for your loss. Tragically lost my wife (she was only 38) a couple years ago. She also passed away at home and like you, our kids (11 & 13 at the time) and I were helpless as we could only watch her leave. Needless to say, we’ve struggled to move on, so I understand first hand how we only learn to deal the pain only with time - it never goes away. Praying for you & your family!
So stoked yall watched the video! It tackles mental illness and suicide prevention the video and the song depict the loves one that would do anything to take away the pain of their loved one suffering from these terrible illnesses almost a little bit of rescuer syndrome "take you best shot show me what you got, honey I'm not afraid rear back and take aim... fire away." some of the most powerful lyrics I've ever heard! Also side note Ben foster is the cop I believe great actor and Chris Stapleton is the bartender in the video. Keep it up guys hope your channel grows and grows
The way Stan's soul was attached to the depth of the emotions already when Brian paused for spotting CS at the end was so moving. Stan answered but you see that's kind of an automatic response he's somewhere deeper where real feelings are. Loved that moment
A few years ago I donated my hair to locks of love..in memory of my mom who died of cancer in 1994 and for one of my sister's who is a cancer survivor..thx you guys for all you do
This was the first time I was able to see my husband’s point of you. He’s a wonderful man that loves a damaged person. And I love him with all my heart
My mother suffered. My daddy suffered. We suffered. It's suffering with a light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes you never reach the light. My daddy stood there and took it. It's real.
Y'all.... I finally got to see Chris Stapleton live last week in Alabama and it was everything you'd expect and more. The Marcus King Band opened for him and although i'd never heard of em, they're all i've been listening to ever since. Marcus King's voice gave me that same feeling as the first time i heard Stapleton. I NEED to see you guys react to him as much as you guys NEED to hear him. Check out any of his "Jam in the Van" performances and prepare for some serious soul.
I don't know about you. But when I first saw this video, with a tear in my eye, I immediately called my woman to see how her day was and tell her I love her. Life too damn short. Gotta say the things that need heard... everyday.
And that humanity is not just window dressing. He and his wife started a charitable fund that supports causes they care about. It's called Outlaw State of Kind (a play on his song, Outlaw State of Mind).
So hard but so important of subject. People need to see the visual of the way things are. I totally agree you have to watch this video! Thank you for wanting to help and make a difference here.
My daughter was bipolar and was just like the actress in the video. She could be so amazing and strong and funny. On the flip side, she could be uncontrollable. Her fiance was amazing with her. She died suddenly and unexpectedly two weeks after her son turned two. She didn't commit suicide but her bipolar disorder played a role in her death because she left the hospital against doctors orders. She had pneumonia. She was 36 years old. This song hits me hard but I love the fact that it brings awareness to mental health issues. Loved your reaction. Thank you.
These guys are awesome!! I’m an AF veteran myself (2003-2017) and I love the variety, message, and sense of community and service to others that you guys bring to the table...thank you.
I really dig it that you gentlemen are man enough to show that you have feelings and emotions. It's real and authentic, I truly believe that's what draws many of us to you guys and keeps us here as well!! Appreciate all that you two do!!
Chris was the bartender. This is heartbreaking! Goosebumps and tears! It's great to put a spotlight on mental illness so more research is done to improve lives.
Love what you guys do man...refreshing. This song is a real punch in the gut and you're right, can't listen to the song without thinking of the video....tear jerker!
Found your channel a few weeks ago and really enjoy it! If you want a couple videos that bring attention to child abuse I recommend “Concrete Angel” by Martina McBride and “Alyssa Lies” by Jason Micheals. Watch both videos but I will warn you they are rough especially if you have kids
My entire life has been lived in an environment of mental health issues. First it was my mother. She would constantly threaten suicide and did attempt it multiple times. One time she pulled in front of a semi truck with me and my siblings in the car with her. The other driver bless his heart was paying attention and a tragic accident was avoided. Then as a mother, my youngest daughter suffers greatly from mental health issues and has sadly attempted suicide multiple times. Mental health issues don't just effect the individual, it effects everyone who cares for them as well. Thank you for your reacting to this video.
Listen to Sticks that Made Thunder which was written and sung by Chris when he was a member of the Bluegrass band, The Steeldrivers. The lyrics are amazing.
This song is sad and heartbreaking. However, I’m thankful that he’s got it out there with the video to Shine awareness on mental health issues and suicide. It’s an issue that needs to be talked about more than it is. God bless him for writing this song, I love it!
You both are awesome. Just waiting to go to work and stumbled upon your videos. Your reactions to this song and video touches me so much I just subscribed to your channel and can't wait to see more. God bless and thank you for not only mentioning our military (God bless them all!) You also mention the problems with mental disorders. God bless you both
This song hit me really hard. It really depicts what it’s like living with someone with a mental illness. That fear every time you walk out the door that things are going to go downhill, desperately doing everything you can think of to try to make things better for them and trying to help. One of my sons is bi-polar and has suicidal tendencies and has tried to hurt himself many times. Things have been good for awhile now, we have had many hospital stays and very intensive counseling, but it’s a fear me and my wife live in constantly.
Thank you for redoing it.Here are some more needs the video,if they get blocked watch them on your own anyway. Skin aka saraha beth by rascal flatts, concrete angel by martina mcbride, temporary home by carrie underwood..and dont take the girl by tim magraw.Hope you enjoy Keep up the good work.
Mental awareness song. I saw interview with Chris & acotr Ben Foster (Laura Prepon’s husband). During an interview with Chris & Ben, it was confirmed this video has to bring mental health to the world. Those of us that are bipolar, hits home. The wife in the video clearly was bipolar.
You guys earned a rare subscribe from. I'm on UA-cam all the time but I've only subscribed to like maybe 15 channels. You guys seem like amazing people. I thoroughly enjoy watching y'all's reaction. Keep it up.
Mental illness shouldn’t be such a stigma. It touches every family, just in different ways. If this video doesn’t make you want to reach out and help, I don’t know what will.
This song's words make me feel way too many different emotions. Anger, regret, shame, and they get worse before they get better. So why do I listen too it 5 times in a row? He can sing his @$$ off is why.
It’s a sad reality that people do go through this. I’ve considered hurting myself just to feel anything, but my wife always pulled me back. Unfortunately the woman in this story couldn’t be helped; didn’t matter how hard he tried.
Another really good story telling video is the song The Light by Disturbed. Another sad one but with an uplifting message. Will make sense if you watch the video.
When my now wife and I were dating she told me that when she heard this song the lyrics reminded her of something I would say to her in the chorus. Which apparently made her want to marry me.
As always, y'all give great reactions. May I suggest, Marc Broussard. "Cry to Me", "Let Me Leave", and plenty more. As Chris Stapleton fans you should really enjoy Marc's voice.
He said if he was going to do a video, he'd do it his way. And his way was to tie his video to a cause. Once in a generation artist and a good human being.
Yeah, if the song wasn't powerful enough... the video pierces your heart.

He appears in the video as the bartender, but he doesn’t show himself singing in the video

Every time I see this video it gets me. Every. Damn. Time.
Thank you!!! It's really his only video. Knew you guys would like it and knew you would want to help the cause.
Thank you for revisiting the song and watching the video. It definitely gives you a different perspective on what the song was about.
So stoked yall watched the video! Great reaction much love
in the early 80's we had a singer, Bob Seger, who sang almost EXACTLY like Chris. He didn't have the song repertoire but the voice's are identical!!!
This was the first time I was able to see my husband’s point of you. He’s a wonderful man that loves a damaged person. And I love him with all my heart
Same here. It kind of destroyed me.

Listen to Sticks that Made Thunder which was written and sung by Chris when he was a member of the Bluegrass band, The Steeldrivers. The lyrics are amazing.
Alan Jackson is a wonderful country singer/songwriter. His song Where Were You perfectly sums up 9/11.
Believe by Brook and Dunn. A must.
