Dynamic pricing is usually more expensive 80-90% of the time. Dynanic pricing is just an intermediate step to devalued "Sky Pesos". The other challenge is that the odds of getting a good deal on both flight legs are really bad.
Wow, 21,000 points with Chase 40% transfer bonus and I can get an upper class seat from Washington DC to London. Glad to see the taxes and fees are proportional too with dynamic pricing. It used to be some insane $700+ taxes and fees for upper class before for the same flight, in addition to at least double the point requirement.
Wow! I love the seat finder! We need to find 2 Bus Class seats to Dublin and there is good availability MCO to Edinburgh … and then, a quick hop to Dublin. Perfect! Going to transfer some Chase miles and some Capital One Venture X to try to put 2 seats together and make this happen, Cap’n!
Max, a previous VA video shows how to search for reward flights on Virgin when changing the word dates to calendar. does that not work now that they changed their reward flight search? any way to see the full month now in points for certain routes? also, do you HAVE TO log in to your VA account to search? aren't they tracking to see which routes you are searching for? I like to search anonymously.
can you do a video on your top hotel redemptions? like top 10 airfare redemption.. BTW, I have a hard time finding better than cash tickets from SFO-PPT-AKL-PVG-SFO, likes
Almost no one deep in the points and miles world was using Virgin miles for Vigin flights. So to me, these changes are great because now at least I have another program with competitive prices to fly to Europe. If they go back to how they were previously, I would only use their miles for partner award bookings.
Thank you for the insights! Maybe you could do a guide about staging flights in order to take advantage of some of these award flights. Pros and cons of separate tickets, or if there is a way to add a non-award flight into the reward itinerary? Cheers.
Any advice how to book a flight from Chicago to Dubai and like to use capital one points..This is my first time learning how to use points and get good deals.. Thanks!!
Hey Max, so it’s my first time use Virgin Atlantic. I just opened an account and then ready to transfer points. Before I transfer points, do I call Virgin Atlantic first so they can hold the flights I want and so they can also confirm the number of points I need to transfer and them call them back once I have transferred the points to VA? Thanks for your help.
Hey! I would call them to check if they still have the flights available and while you're on the phone transfer your points and have them complete the book or you can complete the booking on your own.
Max, you're the man. Agreed, I doubt it. You gotta use the opportunity when you have it. Points inflation is real. Virgin Airlines coffin seats potentially tho lol...
Aeroplan is the absolute worst with dynamic pricing. My home airport is SFO (United Hub). I can never find anything without being quoted outrageous point amounts.
@@newagain9964 depends on where you want to fly, and economy or business class. If United has saver award space they share it with Aeroplan 95% of the time. If Aeroplan doesn’t see United flights that means there’s no saver award space. Aeroplan is one of the more accurate when it comes to seeing United saver award space.
Virgin rewards are the worst, always have been. They charge so many surcharges and taxes that the points+fees almost costs the same as just buying the ticket outright making the points redemption essentially worthless. I have little faith that there will ever be any good deals on Virgin.
29k (or less) and $450 in taxes and fees for business class is not bad. I don’t think anyone is buying $885 business class tickets from NY to LHR. Virgin Atlantic has historically bad I agree but at least right now if you find saver awards off peak it’s not as bad. Will it stay this way forever, probably not

Agree , which is why get it while it’s hot at these rates because it’s the best it’ll ever be , only goes downhill from here LOL
I sometimes book one airline over and one for the trip back. Mostly Europe.
thanks for sharing, im planning a trip to LHR in January so this is very helpful!
Been watching your channel for some time now and it’s been very beneficial. Thank you for the best videos out there on these topics
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you like them!

How do you know when you have has a transfer bonus? From the airline or credit card?
Booking my flight back from vacation thanks to you I'll be upper class from lhr to jfk !
Booked round trips for 3 people in the summer… ATL - LHR - ATL 74k pts. (57k points from Chase) each person. Steal of the year!!!!
I got the 29K, just booked it! Yay!😂
Dynamic pricing or award chart, things can always change. But for now, I'm loving the lower yq & saver rates. Thanks Max!

Thanks for sharing! Where can I check Delta reward availability now that the the rewards checker doesnt work anymore?

I just scored a round trip economy one way, upper class return by transferring 26,000 points! Super sweet spot!
Dang! You beat me! 18,000 points headed out in premium and 44,000 points returning in upper class. Right in the middle of summer, though.
First. Thank you for all that you do!
🎉🎉You’re welcome!

will do!

@@MaxMilesPoints Indeed! Thanks, kinda as I thought. A bit of a crap-shoot depending on flight availability from smaller airport. Cheers.
How do you find out about transfer bonuses? I have a Chase Sapphire card.

great video Max!!! are going to transfer speculatively since it's 40%?
I will not be, I already have a bunch of Virgin Atlantic miles from a previous Bilt transfer bonus from a while ago!
@MaxMilesPoints i think i will but not from chase, lol, thanks Max!!!
Max great video, overall the changes are not that bad, usually we just need to be flexible
two days ago i could find business class tickets 35k today everything is 100k plus

Did they discontinue the companion reward seats?
They did
We snagged 2 business class tix for 58k from JFK!
Amazing! Congrats on the redemption!
Not true, partners raised their prices as well. N America to cdg used to be 48-55k and now it’s around 100k…
provide example of date, routing and operating airline
Dynamic pricing flights and hotels killing the points game.
how do you change your profile to USD?
if you search leaving out of the U.S. it's USD. If you search departing out of the UK or anywhere else it defaults to that country's currency
Soooooo it’s not safe to transfer because it can change at any moment and the points don’t transfer instantly?
Points transfers instantly. I'd only transfer points if you have a redemption in mind and found the award availability
Aeroplan is the absolute worst with dynamic pricing. My home airport is SFO (United Hub). I can never find anything without being quoted outrageous point amounts.
Key to Aeroplan is not to book air Canada or emirates flights. Air Canada doesn’t dynamically their partner award flights
@@MaxMilesPointsweird. Didn’t know that (don’t have much use for either). but noteworthy!
@@MaxMilesPoints1 prob there is United, they don’t want list partner flights much anymore.

Chase is doing 40% to Virgin so I shouldn’t transfer?
Usually transfer only if you have a redemption in mind. If you transfer and never use the points, then you're stuck.

I agree. As a platinum with delta who redeems miles often- I paid 12.00 for my last flight. Now- my miles cost was higher but OOP was less.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks their points are not only very confusing but worthless
