Not really, £28 is just over $35 but it's still absurd they're about the same

Right! Like why do luxury brands (often) have the WORST eyeshadows... and they always give those little crap applicators too! Like I would rather you make the compact smaller than put that in there.
@@Brittainy89 it’s because historically their target audience is older women, and they do NOT want tons of pigment or sparkle because that’s difficult for daily wear on mature eyelids. Sponge applicators are also great on crepey eyelids or an eye area with lots of wrinkles-much easier than brushes, especially for someone without a lot of makeup skill.
That cheap looking Glossier hair clip is $26 & the comb is $36. They are out of their minds!

Girl, yes! I'm 56 and I never put on make-up anymore unless it's to go out, and my old Gothic mug has never been more beat (in a good way)!
I get that the layout in the MAC palette is a rainbow for Pride, but my godddd, I hate when shadow palettes have a bunch of unused space. The rainbow shape is barely of any visual interest, and it's already such a huge palette that the excess space is even more ridiculous. I like the outside, but the inside is giving *kid's first eye shadow palette*. Which might make sense, if it weren't $150. Pick a lane, MAC!
What is wrong with MAC? $150 for an eyeshadow pallet? They aren't that innovative. It looks nice, but it's not worth that much!

I'm sure it wasn't designed this way, but for those of us with mobility issues in the hands, a more chunky package is a lot easier to open than a package like the milk sticks. Smaller rounded objects are SUPER hard to open when you can't grip properly, so because of the arthritis in my hands, I prefer chunky packaging, and will never buy the super compact packaging because I usually do my makeup when I'm home alone, and I wouldn't be able to open it, especially in the morning, when is usually when I do my makeup.
I do wish chunky packaging like that came with refills tho! Would be perfect for a product like that
I don't know how shampoo bottles are allowed - I don't have arthritis but as soon as I'm in the shower holding a shampoo bottle it might as well not have a lid at all. Cannot get in. I feel like functionality and ease of use is just not considered and I find it so frustrating. Love and support. Use what works for you. I hope functional options improve in the future 💛 do you have fave brands that have usable packaging?
Asking for Accesibility, doesn't make us a monolith though... most people hate large/thick handles on their nail polishes while I find them neither better nor worse, and I can't open anything of any size, unless it has some kind of grip for my fingers, by which I can use my wrist as a rachet.

I like intense swatches of highlighters cause I'm the shade of a cool toned piece of uncooked chicken and half the time highlighters called "pearl" are actually a warm toned champagne. It's just easier for me to see the undertones in the intense swatches cause I get distracted by how pretty a highlighter swatched on a cheek looks when they're actually not shades that would suit me at all but would suit anyone who has the look of life in their skin
I just got a highlighter/blushlighter set from Wet n Wild which is really nice (fellow cool-toned raw chicken here -- blushlighter is quite a nice way to wear the gold and peach highlights I wish I could wear!) Also I'm finding K-beauty is good for very pale, icy highlights so far.
for real, the packed on colour is important too

Love the subtle eye look today! I agree with you about the pocket cheek & lip tint. It says it lasts all day so why do you need it in your bag at all? The big chunky is supposed to be for lips?! You'd end up using your finger on the go and then need a wipe. No, thank you. Have you done reviews of the companies Cosmic Brushes, Blend Bunny and Prados Beauty?

The Patrick Ta highlighter is HORRRRIBLE!!!! Absolutely zero color payoff. I regret buying it. If you want a highlighter with a beautiful payoff keep looking.
It's too bad because it looks gorgeous in the pan but I wasn't impressed either
I’ve been underwhelmed by every Patrick Ta products I’ve ever bought. The idea behind his products are always great in theory but it never translate in real life.

I've heard you mention Cosmic Brushes a lot, and wow both those palletes look so beautiful. I've been on such an indie kick these last two to three years, I really need to try them. When it comes to Eyeshadows, I feel like bigger brands are just playing it safe with colors, or just giving us dry crusty formulas. Like no one wants to feel like their rubbing sandpaper on their lids
What are some other indie brands to check out??
@@mochs62512Glamlite is great. Karla Cosmetics. BeatsByDeb. Blendbunny. I also love Moira Cosmetics and Beauty Bay tho I wouldn’t say theyre indie? They’re more like colourpop in terms of price point and products. And I don’t mean that in a bad way. I love everything I’ve gotten from those two brands
@@mochs62512 If you haven't check out Oden's Eye. Their Alva II palette is my all-time favorite palette! Also Nomad Cosmetics is great too! All their destination palettes also give back to charities from the country they based around!
Oh! I also love Kaledios! A lot of beautiful grunge and colourful shadows. Also their liquid lips are some of my favorites

the skkn glosses are amazing, best gloss i've ever tried (i don't like the karjenners btw). the applicator and bottle are bigger than usual, the gloss isn't sticky and it's comfortable. plus, it's not chunky but does have nice color payoff. the applicator is also super soft, plush. would def try it out if ur looking for a new gloss

I think the packaging on the pocket blushes is that way so that if you do put it in your pocket or purse especially in the summer months, so that the heat on the outside doesn’t reach the actual product way in the center. I do think it could’ve been done differently for sure but I can see that being a thing

I love this, you weren't anticipating so many lackluster products when you began this journey. I ordered the Cosmic Brushes Cooltrals palette the moment it became available because the quality Cosmic Brushes puts out is so much better than the stale dusty offerings from the luxury brands. From what I've heard, the quality of the shadows in MAC's 40 Shades of Pride just isn't there and the palette is a huge let-down. At this point, the bigger brands have to be trying to put out disappointing products because indie brands are crushing them into dust.
I'm just getting into makeup at the ripe old age of 43 lol and I would love to learn about more indie brands! Where can I get more info?
@@mochs62512 Welcome to the beauty community! You get to see a lot following creators on here. Obviously Robert is one of the best and is highly respected. The smaller creators tend to focus more on indie brands. The algorithm will put them on your home page. As for brands, I love Glamlite for its inclusivity, fun collabs, and affordability. I love how luxurious Oden's Eye's eyeshadow formulas feel. Cosmic Brushes makes fantastic formulas as well and their Winter Wonderland deservedly made a lot of top eyeshadow palette lists last year. The eyeshadow palette I always get compliments and stopped by random strangers when wearing is Lunar Beauty's Siren Sunset palette.

Why do they look almost grey? Especially the top two. It almost looks like there's a grey filter over it or something, it just doesnt look like it would be very complimentary to live humans🤷♀️
The funny thing is they are actually all peach and orange in real life. If they were grey goulish undertone I’d adore them ! I got the lightest 5 not

I agree with the Rhode blush sticks in last place. At this point, there are soooooo many blush sticks in a plethora of colors that you would have to have the world's best formula to wow me. Like if Lisa Eldridge created a blush stick, it would last all day, reduce fine lines, blend with all your makeup, end climate change, solve world peace, and lower your grocery bill. It would have to be like that to interest me.

I love the Cosmic Brushes palettes! The cool tones one will have to go into my buy soon list. I just bought the ‘Til Death palette by Jolie Beauty and am in love with it.
You nailed it with big brands and eyeshadows. I don't understand how they have all this money and put out the muddiest, dustiest shadows of all time, while indie brands manage to have wonderful formulas and creative color layouts.

See I don't like the Mac palette, but at least they didn't pull a Danessa Myricks Beauty and only donating after getting backlash, then deciding to donate to an organization that doesn't even do anything for LGBTQ + groups. I'm still so disappointed about that. I'm gay and I love me some pride merch, but got dayum I'm tired of companies making money off gay ppl, then either ignoring us for 11 months, or they straight up donate to anti LGBTQ+ organizations and groups. I now only support pride collections from LGBTQ+ owned brands❤

I recently bought one of the Colourpop So Juicy Lip Oils and one of the So Juicy Lip Balm clicky pen things and I really do love them both. They feel really nice on my lips and give them a nice pop of color.

I couldn’t find any information on why Hailey Bieber created the Rhode pocket blush to be so big but I’m thinking it might be for ease of use; similar to how Selena Gomez makes her products for people with issues holding/gripping packaging. Or maybe she made it bigger so when you do throw it in your pocket or handbag, if it breaks it doesn’t instantly get product everywhere, like the bigger packaging has multiple layers surrounding the product to keep it safer being it’s intended to not just sit on someone’s makeup counter. Just my opinion…
I hadn’t looked at the SKKN lipglosses before but I kinda appreciate them looking a smidge gray like you mentioned. Most companies will make a bunch of “neutral nudes” but they still have just enough of the warm tones that they look orange against my very cool toned skin. It’s nice to see a good selection of “neutral” nudes that’s are cool enough without it being baby pink or mauve. I love mauve but I don’t care for bright or baby pink.
I like the look of the naturium spf, but I’m fair as hell, so there’s no way that’s gonna look good on me
I immediately noted the lack of fair skin among the models. There is also no truly light olive skin to be seen. Based on that, my immediate assumption was that I wouldn't even bother to try as a relatively pasty person who can't even create matches from darker "olive" products because they can look as orange as a tangerine against my skin.

Okay so this has been driving me insane ever since I saw this photo. But I think it's photoshopped, cuz if you look at the part of the blush that's touching her skin, it looks like it's bent at an angle, like it's dragging and bending, especially on the right side. Idk how to explain it properly, but every time I see that photo, it drives me nuts😂

Diôr is an established luxury brand worth millions/billions. Whether their makeup is of quality/value is irrelevant, people will still buy it. Indie brands are in the makeup business for makeup and not an extra cash grab (imo). ❤Bella🇺🇸
