I've been using actual hairspray as setting spray for years 😂 it saw my heavy smoky eye through a whole day and night sweaty rave. Didn't feel great on my face though!
Back in the day, theatrical makeup would be set by Pro MUAs using essentially just pure hairspray to keep everything from budging but that was because it was for the stage and makeup was hardly that advanced back in the mid-1900s and those surrounding years. Honestly, I still use certain hairsprays to completely set my makeup but only on few special occasions and I make sure to plug my nose and refrain from breathing until I escape from the mist while it clears away (usually done outside). It’s DEFINITELY not recommended and I would never suggest anyone else try this because no one can guarantee your skin won’t react so poorly to this, but it IS something people still do for especially long-wear occasions. I just don’t believe it should be relied on and only carefully done very few times a year, if that.
I have enjoyed my Sunday listening to you and your twin. I followed your links to purchase some K products, including pillow makeup. When I started wearing makeup in 1964, yes that long ago. My first base was what would appear as a thick pillow base. We lightly laid our fingers over the color and gently tapped it on our faces. I am very fair and neutral so my correct shade was available. My friends were not all that lucky. Very few colors available then. We also brought the base down our necks and blended like crazy. Not that, It was called blending and there was no shading after blush. Now I am 73 and still trying to keep up! Love both you and your twin…together the two of you are so funny!

I always worry about lip plumpers because my skin is so sensitive. I get cold sores even from sun exposure so I stick to sunscreen lip balms. But aging is shrinking/thinning my lips so I would like to find a product that would be gentle enough and effective. Not sure if you guys have done a review or whatever of lip plumping products. I have seen you talk about them but would love to see you or your brother discuss pros/cons especially for those of us with really sensitive skin. Thank you for the CosRx idea tho! ❤💋

I have the L’Oréal Spray and yep I agree, the only way I can use it up now is to set my body makeup, so like bronzer or highlighter on my chest or legs especially if I’m wearing white but definitely not something I would purchase again 🙈
Could you please do some fun festival makeup ideas for this summer? I know you hate glitter, but it's time to step out of your comfortzone 😂 (just kidding)
CosRx has my favorites and they are available mostly everywhere and they also have invisible patches. They're super thin and they stick really well. Two brands I don't know about how widely available they are? ZIT OUT by Avarelle and Hero. Hero I use for their microdarts on zits that haven't taken head yet. ZIT OUT I use for large clusters and I cut out what I need. These are both really great choices. Just do not yes Yes To zit patches. They'll burn your skin. The Creme Shop is unfortunately a lot like the Starface patches.
Robert I don't think we'll see a typical festival look lol, even tho I know you can do *anything* but if you ever wanted to offer tips for mature skin & fun/novelty makeup styles, I'd love that. I do feel like there's a certain level of artistic restraint in your work, and I don't think festival makeup is to your taste, but you speak both respectfully & honestly about mature skin, and you really are very talented at that part of Ed, since it's really art theory. And no one teaches us theory like you ❤❤❤
I raise money for a living so I don't get to be too frivolous (no one's rules, just part of the job), so cute stickers are out, but im cheap AF & always try the cheapest decent option first. Some by Mii is fantastic for my aging skin & occasional persistent face or body pimple (nasty ichthammol is still #1 for carbuncles tho). I'm a pretty specific demographic but I've never had any issues, stinging, etc, they are packaged very wisely (k beauty FTW again!), the price is great & no irritation of any kind. 1-3 days for healing to complete. Put anti chafing Gel over them if you need an inner thigh or one that your pants run on. Works great for the most embarrassing & uncomfortable spots!
Ewwwww hairspray feeling on your face?! I have to use a smidge on my hair - it's fine & thin- I will pay $50 for a can of needed to not have that hairspray smell- I grew up in the 70's-80's I have Aquanet flashbacks now 😂
I agree with starface. I feel like they are about the same quality of cremeshop pimple patches. Cute, but.... they don't do a whole lot. So so many brands are much better. NGL, I just go to marshalls and get whatever random brand they have. Not quite as good as hero patches or zit stickers. But tbh a lot of the generic brands are decent and work just fine.
I love the Starface patches not because of their acne fighting power but because I have Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder! My skin doesn’t handle healing well and I’m very prone to scarring- hydrocolloid keeps the damaged skin moisturized and soft while it heals. They’re extremely cute and they can hold around curves better than the round patches, so they definitely help keep hands off, but I don’t think they help spots heal faster for any other reasons. (For anyone else in the same boat as me, Band Aid makes hydrocolloid bandages now!! It’s about damn time!)
listening while prepping work's meals for tomorrow. Glad to have something to listen to. I love hearing Robert shit talk. And watching his videos has helped me up my makeup game a double bonus!
I just watched the video of twin's channel testing out products from tiktok and here Robert is, deinfluencing us from the setting spray. And I can't help but remember Robert's face when James tested a tiktok lip plumper on one of their videos. He's absolutely traumatized.
For anyone in the uk looking for a dupe of the starface patches, but that actually does something for your spots, superdrugs deep action ones and the facefacts ones (homebargains), are actually some of the best I've tried and so affordable x
Thank you for your honest review on the setting spray. I was thinking of getting it for when I go to my next music fest. Will be buying the o/s instead!
For me setting spray isn’t about preventing my oils from coming though, but for making my makeup touch and wipe proof, so it makes more sense for me to put it over my makeup - creates a sort of film while melting the powder in and helps it from transferring!
How nice to see the “setting spray“ back so soon after the twin channel video 🙂 (Edit): Kind of agree about the Starface, but I find some of the ones that have, say, actives or the micro darts in them also give me dermatitis so I like having cute patches that don’t make everything worse on my face and make a fashion statement. I also think the ability to choose colors and use them to accessorize does wonders for the kids with zits and normalizes them, lessening the reasons for bullying, or at least that’s what I’ve witnessed in practice while working in an elementary-middle school setting.
I agree with your opinions on starface. Felt like I was the only one who found they didn’t work well 😅 plus they never seem to stick on my face very long
I like the star faced ones to keep me from picking. When I don't need something super strong, but I want to keep my hands off of a spot. That is the best use for them in my opinion
Speaking about awful setting sprays I had run out of mine and was like hm why nobody’s talking about Huda Beauty Resting Boss spray. I don’t know why didn’t check any reviews, just ordered it and boy oh boy I realized quite quickly why there’s no buzz around it. It completely feels like a hair spray. I had to hold my breath for half a minute so I wouldn’t choke on whatever is in those chemicals. I don’t believe in that clean shit but there’s a reason why we don’t use hairsprays for our faces.
I love the fact that you show a product that is not good. And then give us a product that you would recommend instead. I love that so much. You are probably my favorite youtuber. You and your brother both
i completely agree with you about the starface!!! i absolutely love them, i have so many (i wish the blue salicylic ones came in better colors) but they absolutely are not the best pimple patches on the market. if i actually need a true strong patch for a cyst, ill go for a heartier brand, but if i need to be seen in any, ill go with the stars. i will say im happy that more people are wearing the stars out and about these days and have kind of normalized them so i feel less stupid when seen wearing them in public!!!
the colorpop eyeshadow palette section freaking spoke to me!!! I was a fan of both Naruto and Sailor Moon growing up so I was excited to hear about their colorpop collaborations only to be underwelmed by the collections as a whole and I found the eyeshadow palettes uninspired and like something was missing 😮💨😞
Clearly controversial but I really like that L'Oréal setting spray 🙈 I'm VERY oily and what works for me is going in first with a regular setting spray to get rid of any powderyness and bring a little glow (like the Beauty Bay matte spray or ELF stay all night spray), let that dry then use just a light spray of the L'Oréal to lock everything. It really helps everything last all day!
Hi Robert, I also purchased the L’Oréal setting spray, thank you for bringing this products less desirable formulation to our awareness and saving us some money. Love Katherine xoxo
I highly recommend the long lasting setting spray from LH cosmetics! It really locks in your makeup but you can't feel it on your face, and it doesn't stink. 😊
the comparison to hairspray made me laugh so much bc we actually used hairspray to make our stage make-up last longer in theater club 😭😭 it was thE WORST FEELING EVER UGh
12:42 of you’re UK based, the Superdrug own-brand pimple patches are also really good! Just the plain round ones, they’re very similar to the cosrx ones but 25% of the price!
THANK YOU for saying this about the Starface patches! I find they do nothing, and the ones from Truly are the same. The brand I would recommend to anyone is Peach Slices! Always worth popping in my Ulta bag when I’m looking to boost my purchase to qualify for a coupon or free gift. I especially love their dark spot microdart ones! Thank you, affordable k-beauty
thank you for the starface review !! i asked my friends about it before buying, and they all said it worked well, so i thought maybe i was using it wrong. i tried using it both before and after moisturizer, and it just. never did anything. i’m glad it’s not just me

I bought that CosRX lip plumper on your recommendation Robert and it's wonderful! I'm a total wimp with lip plumpers too and this one is very tolerable.💜💋
Watching this immediately after the Welsh Twins video that the "setting spray" was in is perfect timing! L'Oreal just wanted to repackage their hairspray, for sure.
The Ine Suze setting spray also is like hair spray, but that stuff doesn't move!! I DO use it after makeup and I woke 12 hour shifts at my hospital, and my makeup still looks good. I DO agree with your tale on things!! And you make me laugh! Thanks
Hero Cosmetics mighty patch is my go-to. I have always contemplated trying out starface patches because of the packaging, but I think I'll stick to what I know works for me.
I put setting spray as a primer (a litrle trick I learned from Robert 😁🥰), under my foundation and then one more layer on top after I finish all of my make up and it holds up amazing, my make up lastst throught eating, drinking, dancing, working, sweating or crying ❤🎉
Good to know about the beauty and the beast pallet, it’s almost like the second Sailor Moon palette where they stuck colors that don’t fit the series. It’s like they don’t hired that main people are really into them to give them ideas on how to do the pallets. Since you talked about, they’re sleeping beauty collection was amazing since they matched the colors correctly to the idea of how the cell animation looked in the movie, as in very soft and very bright. Almost like airbrushed away. I meant Besame.

I love that you give alternatives to get the effect that the shit product doesn't deliver on. So helpful ❤
Thank you for your honesty. I trust your judgement, and your integrity.
omg thank you for deinfluencing the starface patches! i used them when they first came out and even tried out different types/ colors and i feel like it doesnt do anything other then it looks cute / very gen z aesthetic. and i always thought i was just being crazy or it didnt work for me since i see everyone using it. I use Peach Slices deep blemish microdarts and the acne spot dots and ill never go back to something else, they work for me and heal my blemishes/ spots while actually sucking out the oil.
You and James are really the only people I trust to tell us the truth about products ❤❤❤
Who’s James please?
@@JaxJaxksonJames Welsh. He’s Robert’s twin brother. He has a skin care channel, and a separate nail channel. Robert has a separate channel called Robert Reacts, and they have one together called The Welsh Twins. 🙂
I think we got scared you meant James Charles lol😂
I ran out of my norm setting spray and the one recommended to me failed MAJORLY . Insert the Jordan Peele sweating meme…AT A JOB FAIR. Ohh the SEETHING HATRED in my heart I had returning it 😂😂😂
I always worry about lip plumpers because my skin is so sensitive. ❤💋
I just want to thank you because I'm incredibly new to makeup and I love your content! My foundation would still be peeling and awful if I didn't find your foundation mistakes video 😅 I moisture twice a day now and it's really improved my skin
😂😂😂 I use glitter in an upcoming videeeooooo! It could be festival like I guess!
I have to use a smidge on my hair - it's fine & thin- I will pay $50 for a can of needed to not have that hairspray smell- I grew up in the 70's-80's I have Aquanet flashbacks now 😂
I love that you told us what you didn’t like but options too ❤ especially a lower price and a higher 🎉
"Not in pain, don't have a rash"- high expectations from our beauty products! Thank you for making us laugh!
I LOVE the L’Oréal setting spray works so good for me especially on the hot and humid days
I don't use any make up but I enjoy listening to you talk about it and all the shade you throw at things that totally deserve it.
I 100% agree with you about the L'Oréal setting spray. It's absolutely horrible!
The mental image of Robert answering the door for a food delivery with Elmo stickers all over his face was the laugh I needed today
For anyone in the uk looking for a dupe of the starface patches, but that actually does something for your spots, superdrugs deep action ones and the facefacts ones (homebargains), are actually some of the best I've tried and so affordable x
Kyrolan used to be the brand I used when I was taking hair and media makeup in college! So nostalgic! They do some nice makeup brushes as well! 🥰
How nice to see the “setting spray“ back so soon after the twin channel video 🙂
(Edit):
Kind of agree about the Starface, but I find some of the ones that have, say, actives or the micro darts in them also give me dermatitis so I like having cute patches that don’t make everything worse on my face and make a fashion statement. I also think the ability to choose colors and use them to accessorize does wonders for the kids with zits and normalizes them, lessening the reasons for bullying, or at least that’s what I’ve witnessed in practice while working in an elementary-middle school setting.
I almost bought that setting spray based on all the reviews, thank you for being honest!!!!
The L’Oreal setting spray worked really well for me… I have combo skin leaning to balanced normal. I love your brutally honest reviews 😂
The Zitsticka Press Refresh masks are INCREDIBLE. Love that brand.
So glad you reiterated about that spray-it just cannot be good for you!♥️✌️
Don’t do makeup probably never will but I LOVE hearing him talk about all this shit
I don’t believe in that clean shit but there’s a reason why we don’t use hairsprays for our faces.
try gently massaging your lips with a really moisturizing lip balm or mask on!
Thank you for the honest de-influenstering. I have a whole can of Elnet in my bathroom; I will be sure not to use as a setting spray.
We used to use hairspray as setting spray for theater and ballet, it worked pretty well for the crazy pancake makeup on the cheapy cheap
Is it just me or your voice is so soothing I love watching u while I get ready
Thanks for being honest. I know I can always count on you ❤
I love the fact that you show a product that is not good. And then give us a product that you would recommend instead. I love that so much. You are probably my favorite youtuber. You and your brother both
Dear Robert, your reviews are so helpful and honest. You always explain why you don't like the product and what's the reason about it.
You are beautiful Robert. Stay as you are. Oh and ALGORITHM
Love your channel & I no longer wear makeup!I was around in the 80s…….
Kryolan fixing spray is amazing for bridal makeup. It’s not needed for every day but it definitely works.
i completely agree with you about the starface!!! i absolutely love them, i have so many (i wish the blue salicylic ones came in better colors) but they absolutely are not the best pimple patches on the market. if i actually need a true strong patch for a cyst, ill go for a heartier brand, but if i need to be seen in any, ill go with the stars. i will say im happy that more people are wearing the stars out and about these days and have kind of normalized them so i feel less stupid when seen wearing them in public!!!
I always love watching Robert, he’s my main man.
the colorpop eyeshadow palette section freaking spoke to me!!! I was a fan of both Naruto and Sailor Moon growing up so I was excited to hear about their colorpop collaborations only to be underwelmed by the collections as a whole and I found the eyeshadow palettes uninspired and like something was missing 😮💨😞
Thank you for saving me from buying that L'oreal setting spray! I'm oily/mature (42) and that shiny lacquer would be a NIGHTMARE!
I am in awe, and envious, of your manicure. Gorgeous!
I love your giggle in all variations. Cream of the top
Robert's videos make Sunday my favorite day!
That setting spray and lip plumper was WILD. Live strong 💪 robert. Thanks for taking one for the team.
the comparison to hairspray made me laugh so much bc we actually used hairspray to make our stage make-up last longer in theater club 😭😭 it was thE WORST FEELING EVER UGh
The lip plumper is sooooo nice, it’s not extremely painful but it definitely does work
12:42 of you’re UK based, the Superdrug own-brand pimple patches are also really good! Just the plain round ones, they’re very similar to the cosrx ones but 25% of the price!
Totally agree with Starface. I like the Mighty Patch ones.
Thank you, affordable k-beauty
the way we put on hairspray in the 80s covered our faces, so maybe that's where they got the idea. we had high bangs/fringe, back in the day lol
I legit learned to use hairspray on my face to make my makeup last as an “old school” trick >ヮ
Dots for Spots are my go-to pimple patches. Absolutely amazing.
I just watched your video with James and knew you'd talk about the "hair spray"!
Off topic but your hair and beard look really good!
thank you for the starface review !! i asked my friends about it before buying, and they all said it worked well, so i thought maybe i was using it wrong. i tried using it both before and after moisturizer, and it just. never did anything. i’m glad it’s not just me
I've tried a lot of pimple patches but 'Dots for Spots' is my go to! They're not too pricey and do the job so well 😊
LOVE the On Til Dawn, but my husband does call it my face hairspray. I think it’s the container throwing him, but it works like a dream! And I have combo old lady skin.
Ok I loved the Beauty in the Beast palette. I love neutrals and liked the few pops of color.
Thanks
The Elf pimple patches are pretty good too! ❤
I appreciate you suggesting alternative options.
Hero Cosmetics mighty patch is my go-to. I have always contemplated trying out starface patches because of the packaging, but I think I'll stick to what I know works for me.
i feel the same way about the starface stickers! they're super cute but there are cheaper knock offs that also don't work well out there 😅
I put setting spray as a primer (a litrle trick I learned from Robert 😁🥰), under my foundation and then one more layer on top after I finish all of my make up and it holds up amazing, my make up lastst throught eating, drinking, dancing, working, sweating or crying ❤🎉
I really wanted to try that setting spray too!
Your foundation looks so good!!
I love the pimple patches from peach slices
