All I’m saying is Danny’s Carey should be named the new best drummer in existence, I don’t know how you could be better - he plays so seriously like his drums come alive
@@Qliphirot for sure. His broader point was about how life experience influences your playing and if all you ever do is sit behind your kit never living your life then you’ll never have anything new to express.
What makes Danny such a unique artist is he complex compilations, anyone can play straight and fast with practice but not everyone can make grooves that redefine drumming and that is what Danny does, you can hear how his jazz influence helps construct complex compilations, how he uses dynamic textures and etc. People don't understand the complexity of Tool that is why they enjoy simple straight music like APC instead because its easier. Tool fans are a certain bread who is willing to commit.
Wow, what a privilege to watch the best at work. No other drummer or band compares. There probably never will be again...I hope they actually put out another album
they were probably drooling while watching this fell over and hit their head on the mouse accidentally hitting the thumbs down...which is the ultimate thumbs up.
As a Drummer, I could say this 'flagship' business, goes to: Of course 'Ticks and Leeches,' 'Reflection (Actuelly very confusing)' 'Live Triad solo's (if that counts)' And many will disagree, but if you learn the solo, and get into the groove of it all, 'Right in Two' But I do enjoy Wings of Marie, but it's fairly straight forward for Danny......in standards of Tool XD
Honestly, danny might not be my top favorite drummer (very close though) I dont think I know of a drummer i enjoy watching more than him. Im a drummer myself and playing the instrument, its easy to appreciate good percussion
@xReinhartx Yea Haake is like the metal version of Danny. That guy is a beast too. You just don't notice his dynamics on the records because everything is so perfect... but man when you watch him live, you can see he's truly in his element.
Danny carey is one of the best drummers out there and the same with the rest of the band, too bad there are a bunch of douches at my school that like to bother me by saying tool sucks and shit like that and they never even listen to them and they even say rap is better oh well society is screwed up.
Did anyone else notice how Daney's foot is on an upbeat while his hi-hat is being played on a downbeat? (0:00-0:14) IVE BEEN PLAYING THE HI-HAT WRONG ALL THIS TIME!?!?!?!?
@klearlykahmerican meshuggah toured with tool lol tomas haake would actually come out on the song direct after this one at every show to play with them... and danny routinely shit on him with sound. your right though everyone does have there own opinion. yours unfortunately is of the commercial type.
@TheHeretic77 HAHA, my "beef" is that how the hell is "Wings for Marie" Danny's "flagship" song? Drum wise, Ticks and Leeches is better by about 1000 times.
Danny's playing is really organic in feel. He doesn't force a rythym to flow he just let's it breathe and be. Accents are always on point
Some how he tuned in to alien technology, I’ve never heard anyone do what this guy does and all tool members do the same .
The best that has ever lived.
Damn straight nigga!
All I’m saying is Danny’s Carey should be named the new best drummer in existence, I don’t know how you could be better - he plays so seriously like his drums come alive
That is the most amazing display of drumming ever. Holy fuck
I can not, for one second, think of a better role model for the drums than danny carey
The only explanation for his ability's in my opinion is he's able to tap into a higher consciousness.
absolutely !!!! he's present, you can feel it when you see him playing
Thousands of hours of dedicated practice also helps ;)
He did say in an interview recently that taking psychedelics made him a better drummer...
@@Nachtopushe probably meant about creativity, which is the most important part of being a musician. Creating lines and patterns that are memorable.

That fill at 3:01 is divine.
The best of all time...
i could watch this man play all day. every day. and i would be satisfied with life. no food. no drink. just danny carey. i could live on that.
Wow, what a privilege to watch the best at work. No other drummer or band compares. There probably never will be again...I hope they actually put out another album
Aside from the skeetastic groove between 0:32 and 1:35, that china hit at 2:25 was the perfect accent for Maynards part. Danny's an amazing musician!
+Matt Poling Absolutely right about that china hit. Simply put: genius.
Very glad you pointed that out, it's literally off camera. I would've never noticed that. Nice.
Love watching this vid. One of the coolest drum parts from Carey. Never gets old!!!
I have 12 hands and 16 feet. And I still cant play like Mr Carey. Well done sir. Well done, indeed.
he's a the manifestation of highter consciousness on earth !!!
Man this is overwhelmingly amazing and emotional, such a great song and performance
The coolest drumming I've ever seen.
that literally just blew my mind.
one of the best drumming parts ever.
As for the two dislikes for this video...I'm pretty sure their fingers just slipped.
they were probably drooling while watching this fell over and hit their head on the mouse accidentally hitting the thumbs down...which is the ultimate thumbs up.
It’s now 5 dislikes. They must be deaf.
@@BlackHawk287 They just got so excited that they turned the screen upside down to upvote again.
glacier activity lmao
I always tear up at the point when Adam plays closes out the song. I'm not sure why.
For me, Reflection is the one song at least on laterus, if not on all tool albums, with the best drum part. ;-)
Lateralus will be 20 years old next May and Opiate turns 30 in 2023. Holy shit.
@JordanSwift21 danny careys hardest song to learn is by far rosetta stoned. that shit is so complicated it fucks with your head
Amazing skills
Its amazing how it loks like the whole drumset is moving...

That's for them to know, and for you to find out on your own.
my goal in life is not to play the drums as good as he does, but, play them as loud as he does
Imagine being that much of a badass.
How come there isnt a video of danny playing the whole song start to finish?
yes that high Hat beat.
This kicks major ass.
Fuken Epic...
Unfuckingbelievable

IVE BEEN PLAYING THE HI-HAT WRONG ALL THIS TIME!?!?!?!?
trippy. I haven't seen this technique before
@jackcepticeye i dont know but his father once said flat out "my son is the best drummer in the world" and hes right.
@klearlykahmerican Not really, Danny and Gavin Harrison stand out as two of the best drummers of the genre.
@ShroomSamich I was drooling for almost 4 minutes there
The power this man has...
Those poor drums...
Man was Danny pissed at Adam around 0:44 😂
watch how fast his right arm moves at 1:04
!!!
dat quality though
mike portnoy watched this video 23,000 times to try and learn what danny is doing.
how the f@#@# did they do that... *sigh* everytime i justs get better
@xReinhartx It surely requires ears that can hear
Suggested video: Fallout Boy's "American Sweethearts"... wat.
Sub count was at 666 so I had to make to 667
3:02-3:04
he had to come out HEAD first!
uber pwnage.
@lachof in the end he clicked dislike and left :-p
This is absolutely ridiculous
Pauroso!!!

@klearlykahmerican sure thing. Go back to slipknot, kid.
2:51 IS SO FILTHY
Mike Portnoy dislike this video lol
Nope. I'm totally serious. People tend to compare MP and DC. There is no comparison. MP is shit. NOT the shit. Just plain poop.
