One thing I’m surprised you didn’t touch on is that all these events took place nearly, if not exactly, back to back to back. To me personally, I felt like the fact that the game didn’t give you any “breathing room” between them, AND that all of the LTM’s were so underwhelming, just served to highlight how stale the game had gotten. Like, we got two christmas modes and a squid game mode back to back to back, and my reaction was pretty much just “oh, that’s cool I guess” and continued being pretty bored with the game. The game should be engaging enough on its own without anything special going on, and whenever the popularity starts to dip, THEN you come in with an LTM to draw players back in. The fact that we have constant LTM’s and people are still consistently finding them boring should be sounding alarms at Activision HQ.
They're just lazy and uninspired, squid game just feels like a cash grab and Archie's one was bugged out and gave some people instant completion of the event. I'm glad I quit playing 6 years ago when the devs can't even put any passion behind the product anymore and basic quality control isn't taken seriously.
All of the events for zombies have been a major letdown, with Jingle Hells being the best of them, the archies event being a complete bust, and the squid game having a stupid forced exfil at round 10. At this point, give us a solid addition that is NOT limited time such as grief mode or turned mode.
They are not events for the player they are excuses to release more $30 cosmetics rather than add any sort of content that the players want/improve quality of the game
They should utilize these collaborations for long-term stuff and less of these boring LTMs. Why not do a Squid Game themed Strike Map or something? The Walking Dead event back in MWIII should’ve given us a Prison map from the show. So many opportunities and they just don’t do it. At least Warzone did the Die Hard Tower back in 2021, that was cool. And the events definitely need to stop being XP-based. Gimme interesting challenges.
I gotta wonder if it's a licensing issue (bc it somehow always is when multiple brands are involved), but I agree, they need to be permeant. Otherwise I can imagine that devs are disincentivized to actually make something good and polished, knowing it'll be deleted within weeks. The prison would've been such a good idea for a map! It's subtle enough that if you don't know anything about TWD, it still fits in with the game's art style and theme, but there's still plenty of room to work in small Easter Eggs for fans. With Squid Game, I'm still surprised they didn't even do a reskin of a Strike map or anything considering they already went through the trouble of modeling the entire dorm room for the winner's circle...

Like, the operators from the show about zombies.. had no lines specifically in the mode for Zombies… I know it was for The Ones Who Live, but like said, capitalise on the franchise - give us the prison or Alexandri - do some weapon blueprints like Lucille for the baseball bat or a pistol becomes Rick’s python, add a crossbow with a Daryl’s crossbow skin or Carol’s knife blueprint etc. Absolute waste.
So THAT'S that game I've been seeing clips of everywhere! The sad part is that it would probably only take someone a single work week to build the kind of game I described in Halo Forge or FN Creative, but it seems like COD Devs somehow have worse internal tools or procedures that hinder them from being able to do the same. I refuse to believe some random Roblox fan has more talent than the hundreds of game designers working for Activision.

Yea it's a pretty dumb take in my opinion. Newtons cookbook was one of the best additions I black ops 3, and that event let you pick any 50 gobbles you've collected a horde of (including whimisicals) and exchange them for 7 really good ones.
They have these events because their marketing team is better than their developers. The core game is ass but they are able to bring eyes to the game with their constant influx of camos, events, skins, and crossovers.
Honestly, if they put half as much creativity into new maps and modes than they do into skins, COD would be unstoppable. The problem is maps/modes are all temporary and don't make money directly, so the devs and Activision respectfully don't have any reason to
At the moment, I think Sledgehammer is the best out of the three developers. Or at the very least they know how to actually communicate with their playerbase and how to make things not suck.
MW3 was peak for me. Warzone, MP, zombies. The weekly challenges, the events, the frequency, and most importantly the switched between challenges and XP based. The only thing that would have made it better was having DMZ year 2 as a 4th mode.

To me, MW3's constant unlocks were a double edged sword. Constant AMPs were great, but putting half the game's equipment behind that separate Armory system for no reason other than to extend the grind felt forced.

I do miss the MW2 event of the shadow siege on season 5 reloaded when all players were teaming up together instead of killing each other like the usual DMZ and warzone it’s all vs the Konni ultranationalist of the main mission of retrieving the gas at Al mazarah research facility that it was wild when the konni pmc were pretty rough whenever we all had to deal countless rounds of the enemy Ai were coming from heavy infantry and juggernaut before the time runs out to head to the LZ to get out before the gas was exploding and later showing us of Ivan and Nolan were infiltrating shadow company and later take out all of the shadow company soldiers in the chopper and took the gas and show us the reveal trailer. Boy I miss that unlike booty ops 6 got a lot of issues since launch, but worst of all the cosmetic stuff like the squid foo event of treyarch making us pay 1100 cod points like naw foo we ain’t paying that and so are the vip foos and the PlayStation yee yee ahh mask guards and the odd Diddy toy that cod are just money hungry and they tryna copy fortnite in a worst way
The amount of xp you get from the squid games mosh pit is a joke, you could have the best game ever but only get a tiny smudge go towards your event pass

havn't played since modern warefare 2 (newer one)... and only was able to motivate myself for like 2 months after years before that of playing dang near every day for hours. Just doesn't feel as fun as it used to be and the maps don't feel as enjoyable. I'm using this channel to try and motivate myself to jump back in. I enjoy this channel and will continue to watch but i'm not getting motivated to jump back into the game lol.
Actually enjoyed the splint games event until they added the audio on to Red light Green light LMAO I stop playing after that also why don't they make events moves for hardcore matches that's what kills it for me because pentathlon is fun but I hate playing fucking core

There's plenty of optional challenges with rewards in this game. If that's what you want, you have the option. People want to be able to play how they want, not being forced to play a specific type of way to finish the weekly event. That means all the time casuals have to play the game that week will be taken up doing challenges when that's not how they wanted to play. Bad idea. You want to bring the worst aspect of Fortnite's grind into CoD.
