- Just some thoughts on a common complaint I hear about GBO2. This is also meant more towards newer players.

The only real pay to win mechanic I can think of is the guaranteed special parts that you get from the step-up banners. But being a better pilot will usually win you most 1v1s and some 1v2s. I'm also a huge believer in playing your favorite mobile suit will make you a better player.
those are more like pay to make lower cost mobiles suits work. using a high level gramps is hindering your gameplay compared to something thats a native 550. the overtune parts just help them a bit more.

overtune parts fortunately, scales badly with LV1 suits. So just slapping it on a Lv1 Unicorn Gundam isn't really good, you're better off slapping those on a lvl 4 suits, but cost 700 is just another beast that it's better to just use another native 700 cost suit rather than gimping your way with a MkII in 700 with overtuned parts.
@@Kaimax61 Not all, the most p2w parts are the ones who force you to have 6 level upgrades in hangar. An extremely expensive thing for the average guy. Only sustainable for the whales.
I agree as a whale, many a time I might encounter a player who's running over capped melee or beam defense, but they're playing them so recklessly they're only lasting 5 seconds longer than a more cautious player, or someone clearly has composite frame A and are running high damage ranged builds but are so fragile and very aware of it that it holds them back when a little more aggression may make use of the damage modifiers.
Parts suits and buffs don't increase player skill, they get a better chance at winning but without skill and the basics of team player they're a detriment to themselves
I really love the Rick Dias II because the double mega beam can break all mobile suits maneuver armor with one charge shot which is useful at 700 cost room, so I can say in fact that even older mobile suits can handle newer mobile suits with skill.
GBO2 is far from a perfect game. There are times where new units are powerful or OP, and network issues can be a pain with how harsh the penalty system is. But I never thought the game was pay to win. A lot of good suits, especially nowadays, have been added to the DP and RT stores. Additionally, they did add a system that recommends suits that are good for newer players. The system of automatically adding custom parts to your MS, depending on what kind of build you want, is also great for both old and new players as it helps create the skeleton for your ideal build with whatever parts you have. Even the process of earning tokens is easy, as playing for ten days will get you the thirty tokens needed for a ten pull supply drop (however, not everyone can play everyday of every week, so I understand how this might not be viable for everyone and just buying a token pack or two would make things easier in the long run).
I have never spent a cent on this game, yet still have a lot of fun playing. Does the game tick me off at times? Absolutely! But that's most online multiplayer games. It's still fun and is more generous to f2p players compared to other games in my opinion.
PSA to all newer players: "You do not have to spend a cent on this game if you don't want to! Some suits may seem OP, but if you figure out their short comings then they fall faster then a house of cards in the wind! As K9 pointed out, the new guy may seem OP, but sooner or later he is gonna get his azz nerfed or you will get a buff! Keep at it and learn the suits you wish to play! I struggle with the inner workings of some supports even though I main them... But I keep at it! Don't go in expecting to have all the shiny new toys! Some times a good old shot gun can remove the problem when a fancy sniper can't hit the broad side of a barn!"

This is more of a skill based game. Learn the mechanics, get good at them, work with and stay with your team. Also, get in the habit of checking your radar every minute or two. Get these things I mentioned down and you'll find a very enjoyable, tactical pvp mech game.
Not even Armored Core 6 offers the scale between the pilots and the suits. This game will help you understand how insects feel when around us humans 😊

Also, I have always played the suits that interest me, no matter what. I played 55 back-to-back matches in the pre-buff Full Armor Gundam MSV, so I'm used to using stuff that isn't meta or might even be considered weak or bad. (Even though I did that hoping that BB would see me struggle and give it a buff. And they did!)
You just need to be comfortable with the fundamentals and remember to stick with your team. Practice with, and familiarize yourself with the suit in the simulator before you go out and fight other players.
wile i agree with the statement that you don't need to spend a cent. i will 100% argue that there are many suits that are super outliers and Raids are so strong being a general doesn't help.

Glad im not the only one who uses the old suits. Gundam mk 2 and gm cold districts are old reliable for me.
cold districts is fantastic. Mk2 is kinda outdated and under powered but its a good basic machine. I still use the gouf custom
As a bunch of comments have already said, you don’t need to pay a cent to win a fight if you’re the better player. Perfect example is happening in the game right now in fact. Banshee Norn the newest suit is running rampant at 700 cost and you can absolutely trash it using Geymalk, a free and relatively easy to get suit. You might not be able to collect every 4 Star suit you want or every custom part, but you won’t lose fights if you are skilled with what you got.
Been playing for years I have never spent a single penny on this game. I have only ever given my time to earn tokens to get suits. Very fun game.
The Hizack at 400 isn't bad either. It lacks vulcan guns but makes up for it with increased speed. You also get a few good options for the primary weapon.
I think it will be better for new player to know what armour part to use on different cost suits, all lower cost till 450 would better using ballistic armour as many suit use guns over beam weapons, 450 and up should be using beam armour as beam rifles,and cannons start to become more common. expect cost 650 as the bullet hell i call xeku zewi exist....
I've just started playing, but switching from Support to General made such a massive difference in my performance that I don't put a lot of stock into the idea that this game is P2W - _yet,_ anyways. The only issue I'd have with it is the power creep that seems to seep into games like this, but as long as we're still able to run low-tier games, I don't see it as being a huge issue unless that same power creep rolls downhill. Game's surprisingly fun on PC - when queue's don't put you in purgatory. (Or God forbid, you get DC'd.)
I would always toss in a warning to beware of pixys. if stealth is present, keep your eyes open and watch your back, along with a support's back. Also i highly suggest the Assimar, and the Zeta gundam family. Both are very solid and can help people learn the flight mode mechanics.
I’ve never paid a penny for this game, and I have so many MSs from playing the game. When I win, it’s because the team works together.

Raids are pretty weak and hard to play in Lower costs. Even the Mighty Nero Trainer may have a hard time flanking due to how strong Lower cost Gens and supports are.

Honestly can 100% say the game is not pay to win based off of my personal experience as I was able to climb with suits like the GM Cannon lvl 6, Gundam, BD-2, Full Armor Gundam, Jegan, and Pixie all the way to B+ on PS and A rank on PC. Can a dlc suit make it easier, yes but it is not a requirement. A player with good fundamentals and a DP suit will nearly always beat a bad player going unga bunga in dlc suit
The social aspect sucks for a team based game. communication and such, finding games, I've been waiting 45 minutes after reading comments and watching this video. But negatives aside, i do love gundam, and I really like this game. It makes me so mad, and I like it so much. That in itself is ridiculous. Just have fun, dont take it seriously...and learn.
Im f2p and the game is actually quite friendly... you are given premium game curency for free every day, just for playing... so if you are patient and save for custom part events, nothing is out of reach. It's pay for fomo, not pay to win
Alex is absolutely a beginner suit. I’ve gotten a few people into the game before and they all immediately gravitated towards it and found most of their success with it. It has 2 good primary choices and a crazy strong arm machine gun that stuns fast.

I'm new to the game played this game 2 years ago, during those moments i stopped bc after over 2 hours it wasn't my taste and its slow, convoluted description, frustrating gameplay and ofc I despise gacha (I tried the game bc its cool mechs/robots)
Now started this game middle of the month of November (bc Gundam Evolution is dying) trying to learn the game watching guides and learning its mechanics, over the course of this game it clicked to me bc I realised this game is more of a "chess" heavily on tactical strategy (each of there own rolls of raid, general and support)
Rn all I ever focusing on going on mostly low cost areas 350-450 bc I noticed its like a soft cap to me and MS are not so meta (maybe its just me cause I'm still new)

450 - G-3 Gundam
If I go higher cost like 600-650 the only MS I'm comfortable with at level is Gelgoog vortex and RE GZ costum, and other names I forgot oof.

I'll accept most of the criticism about this game (especially PC version), but I will not accept saying this game is pay to win. Even for those Code Fairy MS since some of them aren't that powerful or need to have enough experience to bring out their full potential. Others just like K9 said in the video, either they got nerfed or you had to have enough skill to make that happen.
By the way, although BD3 is a good MS in it's own way, I would not recommend it to new players since it's weapons and combat style are not easy to handle. Instead I would recommend GM custom for starters, It's a easy to get, really solid and cool looking MS to practice on. I suggest new players only pick BD3 if you really like it or want to practice on combat with special system, then it will be a good choice. Since it got the longest system duration time in the game(90s) and the EXAM buff only gives you positive effects so no need to worry about your damage reduction goes down like HADES did.
Always rock leg armor even if they have natural Leg Buffers! Suits like the Gundam MK II have very fragile legs and if you don't have that leg armor you'll just be walking. If you can get away with not rocking it awesome, but for new players I'd suggest getting at least the lvl 2-3 leg armor part. The lvl 1 is alright at lower costs, but at higher costs it doesn't compensate well.
And learn to always target your opponents' legs.

I made it to a rank using the Alex, a 400 cost gm custom(related to the quel I believe), the g3 and a few other suits at a billion different costs. Never spent a penny. Stopped recently cus I didn’t feeling like continuing the grind

2:35 that only happens when there's an even more OP suit coming out. Things like the stein and the nu ff are still going very strong even now. New suits are far more likely to receive buffs in the next available balance patch while older ones have to sit in a bad place for a lot longer.
I've only ever spent $0.99 on the game and that was because i was one token short and didn't want to wait another day to grind it out. Got the Byrant Custom LV 2 in that pull. So it was worth it.

Last new banner suit I got is the unicorn, the others the game has no mercy on me with it's gacha system, I have not a single new four star mobile suit at all, and I'm a huge Gundam fan but this game makes me lose hope in it and I'm a free to play person, and the gacha spins screw me no matter how many tokens I spend so I gave up on new banner suits and spinning tokens, it's tragic

In 2nd account, playing by 3-4 hours for 2 days per 3 weeks, i able to reclaim almost A- rating with a *_G-3 Gundam_* .
( Aside you STILL can have fun with fav MS, i realized how much a 🤡 _A+ rating_ due the vibe of team is almost the same like _B- rating_ which pretty common for one sided match ) 😂
I love my *OG Grandpa* and *G-3* .. 👌🏼
Ratings don't mean much. Just means you get a little more Exp and Data points per match. I still see a lot of rookie mistakes from A and S players.
The game is not P2W , all lootbox are equal and can be grind by doing daily misson . There are MS can exchange by ingame point and have to be on some level but i think it still can got on lootboxes
For the biggest proplem of this game is on PC steam , make me quit playing because of the " Fail Matchmaking " show up kind of 7/10 time you try to play
Might be helpful to name the suits you are playing. New players might find it difficult to figure them out given some look similar and it'd give some idea to what to try later.

Well most of the op code fairy suits are permanently paywalled. zaku II sniper hh or zaku cannon general is a clear case also Titania, there are others like spartan, etc.
the only pay to win suits are sinanju stein and unicorn gundams
Got sucked into the game on PS4, after dumping way WAY to much for the GP02 to quit then later the ZZ and quit again.
Not worth it for that much Fomo for shit you actually want and never get.
