I like how in Mariokart 8 Nathaniel gets mad because Pink Gold Peach has her own slot but doesn't like how Sonic and Super Sonic have the same slot in Sonic R.
This game should have a remake. It's a good idea, but it looks unfinished.
Eh, I think they had a better idea with the Sonic Racer series (prior to the third one with those stupid motion controls) and the Sonic and Sega All Stars Racers Transformed series. Who would've thought giving Sonic vehicles would make for a better Sonic racing game than just having Sonic and friends race on foot?
I'm the only one who knows how to play zero gravity... but that battle mode sucks ass..

That moment at 1:48 killed me, lol! But despite it's wonky controls and unfinished level design, it's not bad. I like it more than other Sonic games like Sonic Labyrinth or Sonic 3D Blast.

When i played this when i was younger, i didnt realize it was actualy a racing game. I just thought it was an adventure (sort of) game. I always wondered why the controls were awful...

The one redeeming feature of this game is the music
Jokes on you! I got used to the controls enough when I started playing! When testing out the L and r buttons! To run smoother, you have to hold the L or R buttons while moving left or right to go through sharper turns. That helped me finish the first 2 tracks. But not Regal Ruin cause the way it’s made.
This game has so much potential! I mean, if SEGA made a spiritual successor to Sonic R, and if they actually got it right, we'd have a good Sonic game for once!

I think they tried to make this game a 3d plat former in a way. Sure, there's racing, but there's also lots of exploring the tracks for hidden items. There's also modes were you have to backtrack to get other items. It just doesn't work.
Sonic R is underrated master piece.
I used to play this game at my friends house when he had a Sega Saturn. I ended up getting the game for my Windows 95 and I'm one of those weird people as well that like this game and know how to control it well.

the thing is that the orignal saturn version of sonic R is different from the PC/GEMS version is that the saturn version is a bit different and for some people it is easier to control with the saturn controller.
As for the graphics of saturn sonic R it does look a better personallly but at the cost of really bad draw distance which is personally tolerable but it requires more memorization because of it.
I think the reason that Robotnik isn’t grayed out is because all of the races have to have five characters and because there’s only four playable ones they had to use one of the unlockable characters
This game came out in 1997.The song that was used for Regal Ruins is called Back in Time and there are lyrics for it. In 2015, Sonic Prologue premiered on UA-cam with a remix of that song. Why isn't there a proper lyrics video for that version?

Sonic R came out in 1997, there was no reason to created random clones. We had Espio, Charmy, Fang, Beam, etc. Metal Knuckles and Tails Doll are just like Pink Gold Peach: Only made for roaster filler slods for what could had been more original and unique characters.

I actually loved the game when I was little (like 15 years ago) not sure if it's the music.. but something that kept me playing.
The game couldn't save for some reason, so I made sure to complete the game everytime again.
I like when video games don't stop the music when it's paused. Imagine playing in your room and everyones sleeping but you're the only one up and you pause the game and the music doesn't play. Fucking creepy.

If there is anything that Sonic games are known for, it's typically having better soundtracks then 80 percent of the games out there. Sonic 2, 3&k, and R are perfect examples of this.

There's ways to skip that darn loop in Reactive Factory, do the Metal Knuckles race and you'll see him go off track to skip the fricking loop and also play the game like it's a racing game only Amy doesn't deceive your eyes making her a tad bit easier to play as but Sonic and the others control like cars so control them like cars and there's an updater for the PC version to make it look like the Saturn version without screen crunch.
edit: The coconut missiles from the Egg-Robo and Eggman are useful, they completely make you lose your momentum if hit.
When i was a kid i FREAKING LOVED THIS GAMEEEE.. and i was really a pro... exploring and winning to get the golden sonic was quite a challenge
