I just discovered this channel and I am in awe. I have always had dry and cracking PNF skin (which I used to call cuticles). I have spent a fortune on potions and lotions and still ended up picking and picking at the skin around my nails. I have been following all the advice on this channel for about 2 weeks and the difference in my nails and the skin around them is stunning. I still want to pick away when I'm a bit nervous but because there is much less to pick at, this behaviour is diminishing. I'm really pleased. Thank you so much.
I've been using this on my feet and fingers nails for three weeks now, and WOW!!! It's literally changed my life. My feet are back to what they were a few years ago. My cuticles have never looked so healthy, even without continually applying cuticle oil. Thank you so much for sharing this gem of knowledge 💗
I LOVE this ointment, and I bought it on your suggestion. At first, I thought it would remain sticky and slimy on my skin, like Vaseline, but it truly does absorb in after about 10 minutes (also, if you make sure to use only a tiny amount). That's important to me in the summer, when I can't stand to wear socks to bed. My proximal skin folds on both toenails and fingernails look the best they ever have in my whole life (I'm almost 60).
Kerasal softened up the hard skin next to the top corners of my fingers where the nail ends. It also helped with my rough feet. Thanks for the suggestion!
This is an amazing product I had several years of severe psoriasis on the soles of my feet; really horrible. This was the only product that helped. I looked for it about 10 years ago for a friend and it had disappeared from Canadian pharmacies. I made my own blend of Vaseline, urea with an uncoated baby aspirin dissolved in a tiny bit of water. It worked!
This stuff is freaking amazing; I will never be without it. I also use it every night on my toes to break down the cuticle. Once i take a shower, the water pushes the loosened cuticle and then I use a stiff nail brush for the loosened cuticle under the P.X.F. I tell everyone about this stuff. I also find when i do my weekly manicure i get through process much quicker. Something else Ive noticed, when I wash my hands, not only is the loosened cuticle ( eponichium) loosened but also the perionychium (near the lateral nail fold) and the hyponichium (under the free edge closest to nail edge) i foumd the longer my nails grew.the hypo grew. When i wash my hands the loosened "white stuff" would wash away. My nails have never looked better. Here is a breakdown of the ingredients as per the manufacturer, Alterna: Kerasal Foot Ointment comes in 15g and 30g sizes. According to the manufacturer, Alterna, LLC, the salicylic acid 5% component of the ointment exfoliates dead cells from skin surfaces while the urea 10% component helps to retain moisture in new surface skin cells.
My pedicure lady told me to use Vaseline on my feet at night with socks, which does well, but this is Vaseline with lots of good things added! I’m going to try it! Thanks. I also use foot cream on my hands at night as hand cream. I’m a nurse, so my hands crack badly. One day I noticed my foot cream said it’s for cracked feet. I’ve been using it as hand cream at night ever since. Baby soft hands. 😆
This stuff feels like magic. I had a cracked heel for over a year that would not go away (no matter what I tried). This cleared it up quickly. I recently starting adding it to my dry skin around my nails and it is amazing there too. I have a back up tube now as I never want to run out of it. 🥰
Great recommendation. I started using this (because of you ❤️) initially on tough skin around my nails, it worked immediately. And now it’s working wonders on my feet.
This was such an incredibly helpful tip to use this around my cuticles at night. I have used on my feet, but never thought to use on my cuticles. It has made such a difference in a dry area on my thumb that has now softened up. Great tip!!
I just started using Kerasal on my feet after showers, with socks, and it’s amazing! Didn’t know I could use it on my hands. Just started tonight! You have the best tips! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Marie! I would say it can be used around the nails if you have hard and dry skin or when it's callused due to picking. Let us know how this works for you :))
Marie: "Didn’t know I could use it on my hands." Skin is skin no matter where it is on your body. The main are to be careful with is your eyes. Only use products on the skin around the eyes formulated for eye use so they don't irritate your eyeballs.
I have been using this every night for like a month on both my hands and feet and I honestly see no difference. I do have some small calluses on the sides of my toes, and they still haven't gone away. Do I have to do anything else to them aside from the cream?
I just started using this per your suggestion its my 4th day and omg i have seens a difference in my feets and especially my skin around my nails they were really rough, i also started using eucerin advanced lotion and its like a quench of water for my hands. Thank you!!!
Hi Victoria! Thank you so much for your comment! I'm so glad you are seeing results! consistency is a key. Gentle cleansers that don't over strip and irritate your skin and repairing skin barrier.... then the body can take care of itself :)
Sometimes I use this (and similar salves) before I start garden work and then put on my gloves. I’ve noticed I get a lot less staining and embedded dirt in and around my nails/ fingers when I do. Amazing stuff!
It’s an excellent idea. For that purpose I would just use Vaseline. It’s cheap and it creates occlusion and it protects the skin. Kerasal is too expensive for that
I use Vaseline on my cuticles a couple times per day, sometimes in addition to cuticle oil. Any excess I rub into my hands. Makes them so soft and I don't get hang nails or calluses anymore. Oh and on my lips too.
Yes, that is also a very good treatment. The ingredients are very different though. It also has Vaseline but it also has lanolin. Kerasal has urea and salicylic acid. They feel very similar though, like you said :) Aquaphor is awesome on the lips too!! Kerasal not really :)
Oh yes for sure! This one is specifically at the MCP palm just below his ring. I get that too when I golf and wear my ring. Caused by the pressure of the ring and the club. But, yeah, callus is protective when you’re weight training! See, this is why we should see MSL! We want to ogle the body-builder!!
Yes, I have a weird dry spot on my left ankle bone that my mom said was a faint birthmark when I was a baby, but as an adult just grabs onto self-tanner and looks dirty. lol I was using kerasal on my feet anyway and tried it on that spot a few times -- no more dry spot, and no dirty-looking ankle! lol
I have to use this everyday as well as pushing back the proximal fold. Even with using jojoba after hand washing, I still have dryness. I’ve 2 auto immune disorders that cause this excessive dryness so it’s not about the recommendation or product. Love this channel!!
My nails, cuticles, proximal fold and skin has improved tremendously by following your care instructions and videos. I’m super grateful for your generosity, and knowledge. ❤️
New subscriber here 🙋🏻♀️ I was aware of this product from using it in the past on my feet and I don’t know why I never tried it on my cuticle area ! Brilliant ! Works like a dream. I’m a barber and have very dry fingers and cuticles. I also sometimes have cuts and I’ve noticed since using this that my cuts heal up super quick ! Thank you for this !
Hi, first of all I want to thank you for all the things you've taught us! I'm a lifelong nail biter/picker (I've managed three bitefree weeks now!) and have very prominent keratinized PNF so thought I would try urea for it. I'm wondering since urea is a keratolytic, will it soften/weaken the nails? Thanks again for all the knowledge
Good morning. Thank you for your another great video. Very helpful as always. Can I use this ointment for the skin around the nails together with Kerasal Multipurpose ( liquid with a brush) for my peeling nails? It’s what I’m doing recently but the tips of my fingers become tender and I have more of the free edge on my nails. I hope that makes sense. Thank you. Monika
@@petergerlach Since it's been a month, hope you don't mind my butting in... I inherited the same issue from my dad, and he taught me to soak in epsom salts and warm (not hot) water for about 30 minutes, gently pumice, pat slightly dry, apply treatment, pat on a thin layer of vaseline to seal everything in, then top with 100% cotton socks. He used the Nivea skin cream in the blue tin, but I use Kerasal for the treatment and still pat the Vaseline on top. Both of us tended toward cracks and thick callouses that would actually bleed in the winter, and I learned the hard way not to try to pumice too much at a time or my feet would be too sore to walk - and I've had to keep untrained nail techs from trying to shave them off with a Credo blade, which can actually be dangerous. Anyway... it's not a one-and-done solution for me, but consistency over time that has made the difference: 2-3 times a week in winter and once a week in summer, so it's just a habit now. Oh, and I've also found that AmLactin Daily Moisturizing Lotion with 12% lactic acid REALLY helps maintain my feet in between treatments, and it applies like a regular lotion so I can use it anytime. Hope any of this is helpful -- I feel ya!
@@petergerlach Do not remove the skin yourself. Let the products do the work. Yes, Kerasal for Feet was designed to work for dry cracked feet. Whether something is "better" or not depends on each human, how they apply, behavior, etc. Always apply after a shower or soaking your foot in water for optimum results.
Hi... I've search for a long time for s'thing to help stop this bad cracks on my entire cuticle area, got to the point it itched so bad went to see an alergy doctor, waste of time. After seeing your videos, I went and bought the Kerasal. I started using it today hope it helps me thank you❤
Sounds like some kind of allergy to nail polish or gel polish. Do you wear anything on your nails? In that case Kerasal is not going to help. You need to remove the source of the allergy (the allergen)
That urea, and salicylic acid, are powerful moisturizing and softening agents. In a cream, applied at night under bed socks, they really work on cracked, dry feet. I like the Eucerin complete foot repair cream, since I haven’t seen Kerasal in our pharmacies! Thanks for the link! And I know they work on dry hands, too!
I learned about it from a dermatologist… is very good but never thought to put it around my nails.. thank you for tip.. by the way it’s cheaper than the foot cream I find in my drug store here in the Middle East.
Hello!! I’ve been devouring your videos and I have a question. My nails are peeling and my skin around my nails are dry and torn. I have a plan in place that I’m doing, but I’d like to add kerasil to my routine. If I use the kerasil every night for the skin around my nails, can I still put jojoba oil on my nails?? Will the kerasil dry out my nails?
I got this but apparently used too much. It only lasted a week or two for me. 🤦♀️I think I’ll try it again. Have you had any clients that have 1 heel that’s much more of a problem than the other? Any ideas on what causes 1 heel to get rougher (and faster ) than the other? One person giving me a pedicure thought maybe I walk in a way that causes it.
Hi Stephanie! Yes, you are like my clients lol. Use it after shower and it will spread much better and then really rub it into the skin. I do like a little foot massage. It's very common for one foot to have difference amount of callus than other. You pedicurist was right, we often put more pressure on one of our feet. More pressure= more callus/roughness
i have used this for a few nights and my skin around my nails almost feels more dry in the morning. i am not sure if this is because it doesn't agree or if it is because it is starting to break down the dry areas to hopefully reveal the magic after a little while?
Dry might mean irritation which is not good. You might be sensitive to some ingredients. Are you using tiny bit? Is your skin just dry (but soft) or harder and a bit callused?
@@TheSalonLife it is very dry...though better since I have been using the oil and cerave. i have sticky cuticles and was hoping this would really help with that. I do tend to have callouses though as i have always had a lump on my right middle finger from writing etc and the skin round my nails seems hard and callusy always rather than soft. I thought i was only using a very tiny amount but maybe it is too much. The Eucerin foot cream is fine as well but I was hoping this may help to lengthen some of my nails where the cuticle is stuck. Thank you so much for your videos they have been life changing for my hands.😊
I’m stuck and am feeling discouraged 😔I’ve been using kerasal with cotton gloves every single night since June 16 and haven’t noticed a difference with my lateral nail fold (I think that’s the correct terminology for the location I’m talking about) Am I being impatient or am I doomed to calloused later nail folds for the rest of my life?
So you mean for 2 weeks? What else are you doing or not doing? What caused the callus? So many variables.... but yes, it can take few weeks to see difference but it all depends...
@@TheSalonLife hopefully it’s just too soon for me to tell! But yes, about two weeks. I am also using jojoba oil after every hand wash and any other time my hands get water on them. I wear gloves to shower and to wash dishes as well. I haven’t been able to identify why my fingers are so calloused like this but it’s been this way for as long as I can remember. I am not clipping the skin but sometimes lately, when the corners get very rough I use the glass file to smooth it out. I’m not sure if that’s only helping temporarily and causing more damage long term though. I do a rubber base gel and gel polish manicure too!
I just picked mine up at the post office for my nails I have skin that's flaking off I did rip one part I tend to pick the other I cut of it's not sore but irritating so I'm trying it tonight I'm also in Australia
I love the idea of using this on my feet. I’d use it on my fingers, too, but I have rosacea. I can’t use chemical exfoliates like salicylic acid or I’ll turn tomato red. I don’t think I could go for very long without unthinkingly touching my face.
Hi Sheri! I have rosacea too and thankfully I don’t have problems with exfoliants if I use them once in a while on my face. How about putting that around your nails at night (if you need it) and then cotton gloves on? I know, how sexy lol.
@@TheSalonLife Thank you for the idea! I might be able to do that at least in the evenings until it gets warm. I use to do Ana Seidel’s Intensive Hydration Treatment, which was to oil the naked nails and apply Simply Sealed to the skin and then put on nitrile gloves. I’d do an overnight and wear them to bed. Those are really sexy. Lol. It really hydrated good. I started getting fingernail infections from the gloves. Took four and a friend to figure it out. Each infection cleared up pretty easily with Epsom salt water soaks, but ended with onycholysis. This happened this past summer. September I chopped the lifted part off and chopped the others down. It’s actually just now that most of my nails are at around the length of your nails. One nail is shorter because after the infection and then onycholysis, i cut the nail very short but didn’t trim all the lifted part off. Stupid because I know the hyponychium is a guardian barrier like the Proximal nail fold. Well, I got an infection under the lifted part of the nail and lost the entire middle section of the nail from proximal nail fold to tip. You don’t even want to know what that looked like. This nail is about at nub length but still is miss shaped on the tip. I’ve been sans polish since September. It really sounds like I abuse my nails, but I actually am obsessive about caring for them. I baby them like mad. It’s just my skin was always sensitive but has gotten worse with age and my nails have always been crappy. I am so afraid of gloves that I don’t even want to put on kitchen gloves or gardening gloves. I do think cotton gloves that are breathable would probably be fine. I miss the nitrile gloves, though. A lot of people in the Bliss Fb group west nitrile gloves with hair ties on the wrists in the shower. I miss being able to do that because it sure helped the skin from drying out and helped the polish stay on. Even with polish on, I think the gloves helped the nails. Thank you for the tip!
@@sherric7860 Questions: 1)How often did you wash your gloves? 2) Did/Do you use hand creams or products and if so, what? 3) What soap/body washes do you use in the shower?
I've never heard of Kerasal. I'm not sure if we get it here in Australia. My favourite foot cream is the CeraVe SA Renewing Foot Cream. There aren't many places I can get it from, and I go through it pretty quick, but it's the best one I've tried so far, so I still use it most days and repurchase several tubes at a time.
Hi Caitlin! I also just bought Cerave Smoothing cream. With urea and salicylic acid too. It’s also great! I will do a quick video about it. Kerasal is available mainly in USA. I get it shipped from USA
Cool suggestions in comments. Yes, I recommend this to my patients. I use Flexitol, it’s also good. Will have to check it’s ingredients. I use my new glass foot pumice on my dry feet, shower and then Flexitol same as you demo’d and then put on my little sockettes and off to bed for sweet dreams 😴
Flexitol looks great too! Urea and Lanolin. I also recently got Bepanthol Pommade. That one has lanolin as well as Vaseline. Great for lips at night too.
Ps. Try using the glass file on feet after shower. I sometimes stuck my foot in the sink after I shower and scrub it that way. I use it both ways (Dry and wet) and I don’t know which one is more effective :) I can’t believe how smooth and not dry at all my feet are lately.
OMG! Same here! And my sisters who also follow you and love you guys! My older sister scrubbed too hard and abraded her skin! The beauty is that you don’t have to scrub hard at all! I will definitely try sticking my feet in the sink next shower! LOL! Not a pretty sight! 🤣😂🤣
What does wonders on my heels is a foot cream with glycolic acid. That at night or after I shower in the morning, if I'm going to put socks on. And I lightly exfoliate my heels with a pumice like "stone "/bar. Baby soft feet hare...
Ok cool beans 🫘 Lol I now see how you use this product I was asking about it on another post. I’m ordering it I saw where it can help sensitive skin issues so hopefully it will be safe for me with using a tiny amount. Thanks for helping us take better care of our hands & feet 👣❤️

No, way too strong. It's designed for hard heels where the skin is the thickest, not for around the eyes where the skin is literally the thinnest
@@TheSalonLife Thank you!!
Will I be able to use this gel in between toes
Why would you need it between the toes? This cream is for dry and hard skin. The skin between the toes is opposite. Soft and moist.
Aquaphor is very good !! 🌎
Yes I totally agree but it has a different purpose. :)
Aquaphor is a beautiful, gentle occlusive.
This is a humectant, keratolytic and an exfoliant.
I have some and have never used it! Does it help with nail ridges at all? (Since it exfoliates.)
Hi Orilea! No, it won’t help with ridges on the nails. It doesn’t exfoliate the nail but the skin around it so the “nails” look awesome
@@TheSalonLife I'm going to use it! Thanks so much for this - and ALL - your wonderful videos!!!

Could this help my finger nails that are layering? Or would you suggest something else please?
It could help with peeling. But peeling can be caused by several reasons.
I learned about it from a dermatologist… is very good but never thought to put it around my nails.. thank you for tip.. by the way it’s cheaper than the foot cream I find in my drug store here in the Middle East.
I have very dry flakie fingernails. Would this product be beneficial or would all of the wonderful ingredients make them too soft?
It’s not going to make nails too soft :).
@@TheSalonLife thank you🙂
I can't buy it here in the Netherlands. Have you got another option for the rest of us how can't buy it? 😊 Love your videos and advice!!
Hello :). Good news. It’s available in Netherlands through iHerb
🇳🇱Netherlands iherb.co/tyCRa2t
Hello, no, Kerasal is moisturising mostly. If you find it gives you some dryness or irritation use it less. And yes, you can still use jojoba.
Please see this quick 3 min video: ua-cam.com/video/8LXeYtTG8OU/v-deo.html
@@TheSalonLife thank you so much for your response! I appreciate it!!
I’m loading up my Amazon cart watching your videos!! 😂
thank you for your support :))). You will love Kerasal
I have read several times that te Kerasal loosen nails and in some case even made nails fall off?? is that a known thing?
Never heard of it. How would that be possible? Maybe if someone is highly allergic to one of the ingredients?
Do you have any recommendations for nail fungus on big toes? They look terrible and are thick. They seem to gro in thickness instead of length.
Hi Susan, our recommendation would be to see a medical professional for your nail fungus issue.
We hope you have a wonderful day! - MSL
Hello Susan! Fungus is a medical issue and not a cosmetic one so we are not qualified to help with medical issues. Anna
i have used this for a few nights and my skin around my nails almost feels more dry in the morning. i am not sure if this is because it doesn't agree or if it is because it is starting to break down the dry areas to hopefully reveal the magic after a little while?
May I kindly ask where to get this in Germany/Europe? 😅 I can’t seem to find it - is there something similar available here? Thank you for your answer
Hi Chiara! Please try iHerb bit.ly/3XCWKvF and let me know if you were able to get it :)
@@TheSalonLife Thank you very much - I‘ve ordered right away and will keep you updated. All the best and have a lovely day

I’m stuck and am feeling discouraged 😔I’ve been using kerasal with cotton gloves every single night since June 16 and haven’t noticed a difference with my lateral nail fold (I think that’s the correct terminology for the location I’m talking about)
Am I being impatient or am I doomed to calloused later nail folds for the rest of my life?
I cant find this in the Netherlands.... unfortunatly...
check iHerb :)
@@TheSalonLife thank you!!!
I just picked mine up at the post office for my nails I have skin that's flaking off I did rip one part I tend to pick the other I cut of it's not sore but irritating so I'm trying it tonight I'm also in Australia
It’s not supposed to be used on broken skin. Only on hard, dry skin.
@@TheSalonLife yep, I didn’t use it on my broken skin I use it on hard dry skin I only use it at night.
This is basically refined crude oil and petroleum.
Hello! LOL
I just order it today.
Please let us know how you like it when you get a chance to use it for a while!!
@@TheSalonLife for sure. BTW the world for that kind of "cream" is ointment.
Uf, yes, thank you :))) That was the word I should have used :))
Received it today, love the texture! I'll send update in 2 weeks!
@@TheSalonLife Hi! I also live in Australia and am wondering if you made a video for Cerave Smoothing Cream? If not, is it as good as Kerasal?
I use it both ways (Dry and wet) and I don’t know which one is more effective :)
I can’t believe how smooth and not dry at all my feet are lately.
OMG! Same here! And my sisters who also follow you and love you guys! My older sister scrubbed too hard and abraded her skin! The beauty is that you don’t have to scrub hard at all! I will definitely try sticking my feet in the sink next shower! LOL! Not a pretty sight! 🤣😂🤣
It's for flexibility maintenance lol 😂
HAHAHA!! Too funny!!
What does wonders on my heels is a foot cream with glycolic acid. That at night or after I shower in the morning, if I'm going to put socks on. And I lightly exfoliate my heels with a pumice like "stone "/bar. Baby soft feet hare...
It's an OINTMENT, NOT a cream.
Correct! 🙌
Never on the hands. If you get in your eye it will be disaster
Why? It has 10% urea and 5% salicylic acid. It's not excessive. I use 4% salicylic acid on my face. 10% urea is common in hand and body lotions.
As you said it's really a good cream my cuticles are not dry anymore and even my feet I do this every night tks Anna for the advice
