When VW finished their ID.4 plant in Tennessee...they had a rough rollout. They struggled with a new factory, new assembly structures, and new employees. It took them several months to correct issues in their production process. Take your time, Hyundai and Kia, and get it right.
Great overview, thanks. Most insightful line "A new factory, with new employees building a new car"....Glad I pulled the trigger on a great deal for a 24! Hopefully none but wondering what issues the 25's will have that weren't in previous models.
Called today (12/18/24): dealership in metro Detroit just had an update in their system with its first (and currently only) 2025 Ionic 5 (SEL, cyber gray) allocated to them with delivery expected 1/29/25 (in production, no VIN yet assigned). Deposit placed. Seems like the estimate for the first units being available mid-end of January is spot on in our area. I'm hoping this will beat any changes to the federal EV incentives during the first few days of the new administration...I'm holding out for the improved features of the 2025 despite this risk.
I intend to trade my '22 SEL for a '25 and was told by my dealership here in Illinois that they were hoping for mid-december delivery. Looks like I'll wait a bit longer. I was told that the dealers can't order I-5's, they just have to wait and find out what Hyundai will allocate to them. The local dealer still has '24's on the lot and tried hard to get me to choose one of the I5 or 6's in their inventory. I get the feeling that it's going to take a hell of a deal to move those '24's considering the improvements of the 25 models.
Thanks for the update. I'm not gonna pay a markup so my timeline may have to slip some. I'm in NJ looking for a Limited but will drive out of state if I have to.
Thanks for the update. I'm sticking with the 2025 Ioniq 5 if I can wait. I could be tempted by an incredible deal on a 24, but with your previous video on the reasons to wait, I'm waiting.
I live in the Uk. I’ve had my 2025 IONIQ 5 limited AWD edition for about 4 weeks now. I upgraded from a 2021 IONIQ 5 and it’s a superb upgrade. Better range, better tech, rear wiper, vision roof and I also got the digital wing mirrors which I know you can;t get in the US, but it’s still a fabulous car.
@@waxy1962understand, but standard minors are the default, and I can’t ever see Hyundai changing that. It’s just nice to have options if you want them.
I talked with my dealer yesterday and he said they're getting two of them (both Limited trim) in February, but they are able to put in orders for customers now if they want a specific trim/color/features. Can't wait to get mine!
My local dealer in San Diego told me the same thing this week - they'll start getting 2025 models in the last half of January. He said Hyundai is discounting leased 2024 IONIQ 5s by $15,000 this month.
Nope, it was a 5. The sales guy told me stories about people test driving 5N's just for kicks, never intending to buy one. I've never seen a 5N, that dealer did not even have one on the lot. The car I drove had a J3400 charging port.
Love the channel, been watching for years. Looking at the 2025 model, saw some notes about rails for a roof rack, and wondering if folks have any suggestions. I love the look and low profile of the racks I've seen on Teslas and some of the new Rivians, wondering if there is anything comparable for the new Ioniq models? Yakima/Thule adjustable width racks like the Skyline FX are fine, but look bulky and likely contribute to drag, but don't know how much of a difference it makes? Thoughts?
That's a bummer. But explains why I placed a preorder several weeks ago once my dealership said they could take one... Ordered a 25 i5 Ltd so I'm in on that... If the lease price collapses because trump kills incentives good changee I'll bail.. That would be a total disappointment but no incentive would mean terrible lease$... So right now waiting on a vin# then going incentives hold and can get into mine in Jan/Feb time frame!
I wouldn't go for the 2025. I'm seeing some Limited trims 2024s advertised around $36K in my area. The funny part is that dealers here list 2024s for MSRP and some discounting. DO YOUR RESEARCH!
I figured they would hold the 2025 until after Tesla has enabled charging for Hyundai/Kia. If they sold the 2025 today everyone would take it right to a supercharger and it probably wouldn't work. It would cause too much confusion and youtube videos - new ioniq 5 has unusable NACS port - . Plus I don't see any advantage to having the NACS port at this time since charging at a supercharger is less than half the speed as CCS charger. So 2025 owners will want to keep using CCS as their goto charger but now it will need an adapter every time.
I have been hoping they would have them out by year end, but now hoping by the end of January. Hyundai needs to keep the sales momentum for their sales reports, so doubt they would hold them back just because they have more 2024s to sell. Think it has more to do with just getting enough production to make them widely available.
I was able to get my 2022 with only 12K miles for $20,000. I wouldn't pay over $30,000 for any of these vehicles. The 2025 model is very exciting because it fixed many of the problems but just going to have to wait a few years for it to come down in price
Appears that a limited number of 2025's have in fact already left the factory. Spoke with my sales guy today, they have a second 2025 in their showroom now and the one I drove seems to have been sold.
Yep my dealership has a 25 n line.. Tested it crazy cool but could never justify that price.. He is now yelling me expect my preordered 25 limited in February... Sucks waiting but as long as I'm earmarked for one and before my lease on current wrangler 4xe ends in March.. I'm all good! 🤞
There's a variety of variables so you can't just say one number. How fast are you driving? What's the outside temperature? Is there wind? Is it raining? Are you going up hill? How many people are in the car?
I can't seem to find any info on a timeline for the n-line. I find it silly that they released it in europe, asia and australia but not in north america. Especially with US roll out being slow, they could have imported from koria like 2024. Did you get any news on this model at all. You mentioned that you would ask but have not heard anything as if yet?
I did not ask about an adapter, not being aware that Tesla had yet to greenlight Supercharger usage. It will be one of my first questions once a RWD comes available.
Hyundai has a virtual showroom thing they do for their cars, and I watched it for the '25 I5. They said that they will be including a J1772 to NACS adapter with each car for at least this model year so you can charge with existing infrastructure.
Seems that the MY 2025 released in Europe has some ESP problem, there are some Reddit discussions mentioning it. I was lurking to see if the MY 2025 finally fixes the ICCU issue, now this... 😞
I paid 200 after taxes for the A2Z I just bought but someone pointed out that there is a 15% coupon on their site right now so around $160. The quality seems great so at $160 it seems fairly priced
Do you think they will really switch the I5 to an Android system in 2026? I know other Hyundai and Kia cars have been on CCNC for a while now, but to switch the I5 infotainment system after a year seems crazy. You have any information on that situation?
