What size button for the closure? And the needle to go through the button?? Is it a regular sewing needle. (Tyia!)

The button is about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch. A yarn needle, it needs to go through the needle with yarn on it.

I don't know About the Reindeer or Santa Cozies, But It's hard for me to help with out seeing your work or the mug you are using. If it's not fitting, you can measure as you go, adjust your hook size to a smaller hook or tighten your tension.
