BMW X5 (E70) Heater Malfunction (cold air, or low air pressure from vents or one vent blowing cold)

  • If you are experiencing heater issues with you X5 and not getting warm/hot air inside the cabin, please read below and watch the vide for useful information. I will explain some of the more common issue resulting in low or no heat during winter. Following are the key point-
    a. If No Air from Vents and Battery Low voltage Alarm, check Battery voltage and Recharge or replace old battery
    b. If you are getting some air from vents but either its cold, or one vent is blowing cold and other hot or overall vent speed is low, do the following in recommended sequence below (basic to more complex) until the problem is resolved-
    1. Top off engine coolant
    2. Check Freon level (yes for heater too)
    3. Replace heater valve
    4. Change Thermostat (more complex)
    5. Others (Heater core etc)
