    BEST video I have seen on explaining the reason for choosing a smaller size on tops. All other information available in videos and books just say, choose smaller size and adjust. But you are the only one that actually showed step by step on how to adjust. Also showing yourself with both sizes 14 and 16 really shows the fitting differences between the two sizes. And I love that you showed the final blouse actually sewn. Other videos show the work done on pattern tissue, but not the actual garment after being sewn.

    I wish you and you tube were around a lonnnnng time ago when I gave up sewing for me and only sewed for kids! On the other hand, your fitting videos are right on time as I enter post menopausal body changes and want to sew for me again. Much easy to understand than the books.

    Your video on pattern, fitting a shirt was so wonderful. Thank you for the great job you did to that shirt and explaining the different patterning sizes. And picking the right size pattern on how you did the adjustment to make everything fit right. I will be using theses tips.

    Thank you for this video. Your instructions are so clear to me on every video you do. I thank you for that as well. I have been sewing for as long as I can remember (65+yrs.), and have great skills, but unfortunately, no one ever showed me how to alter a pattern.! I used to fit in a pattern w/o adjustments, but aging changes our shape(s). I have made formals for my girls, heirloom christening gowns for my grandchildren, suits, pants, etc., and now I feel like I can't fit myself. I live in a town that offers no fitting classes. I am searching for adjustments to my V8986 (princess seams also) and i'm stumped as to where to begin! I am going to start with the bust adjustment as you did. I am using a 16D, but still need an adjustment. My waist dips in the front in relation to the back, so do I just lengthen the front and taper to back seam?Also, I have very narrow shoulders, and the back sleeve area of the bodice gaps some. Will this disappear when i do a narrow shoulder adjustment? Also need to make the sleeve wider, as you did. That seems very straight forward in this video. I think I am getting overwhelmed with so many adjustments and getting close to just throwing in the towel. I LOVE to sew and would love to get back to filling my closet with clothing that FITS!

    Great tutorial and very informative. You have put terms to a method are two that I was doing. but couldn't articulate it in my garment reviews. Also great tip on the belly button placement. I normally start at the bust and go from there. but never considered the belly button placement before continuing on with the other buttons. . Awesome. . TFS.

    really good videos. I learn a lot and you are funny. I appreciate time you take. I have had a really hard time getting a video on how to do an fba on a princess seam. No-one has yet done one on a lined jacket and discussed ease. How do you fit a chanel type jacket if you have to consider 5" of ease?

    I love your videos-thanks for posting. I think I will try the seam method on my next FBA with princess seams. I have one question….is there a pattern for the white shirt with the waist bands that is in the background?

    • @SewToFit
      @SewToFit  9 років тому

      Hello Michele. I can't remember the pattern, but you can put bias strips across to get the cinched look. The strips are only on the front. It needs to be a well fitted shirt.

    Great job Ms. Andrea!!! Love the tutorial and great info! Of course I'm a new subbie! Don't you just hate when something like a little lipstick makes it's way into your creation, LOL! If you don't have any, get some Oxy clean stain remover. I keep this in my laundry room because it works on just about anything!!

    • @SewToFit
      @SewToFit  9 років тому

      Thanks Myra. I found some of the tide pen and it worked great. I just rubbed it on the stain and wiped with a damp cloth. The oxy clean is wonderful. I use it regularly and should have thought of it first. Stress makes use forget the obvious. Thanks for the reminder.

    AD Lynn I've never heard of the seam method. Can you do a video showing how you actually did this? Is this less work than the typically cutting and spreading? Which method is best? Thanks.

    • @SewToFit
      @SewToFit  9 років тому

      +Janet Thomson That method is similar to the "inside" slash and spread but avoids throwing off the grain. I will add that too my list. Thanks for your interest and watching.

  • @sewing3530

    Quick question, to make sure i understand, is it best to fit a top pattern based on upper bust measurement, even if it's the top end of the pattern envelope range? And, I would assume with tissue fitting, you're creating your own ease by making all these adjustments? (coming from someone that will need to make fba)

    • @SewToFit
      @SewToFit  9 років тому

      That is correct. The top end just means the pattern is going to have a tad bit more ease for the lowers range. The closer we are to the top range the more we "fill" out the space or take up that ease which is why we need an FBA when we are well endowed.

  • @robincrean
