For the people who train bujinkan ninpo for years and can't afford economically come to Japan to study , you are a real treasure. Thank you very much and please keep going! And please make some short or videos to explain the basic taijutsu.
Thanks for posting this.... banpen fugyo is indeed a huge part of the whole concept called life. Everybody who claims everything in their life went according as planned lives in an illusion. Best wishes from Hamburg, Fernando
Thsnk you very much Paul. It is, alway good to be reminded of these philosophical teachings, and you always have some "new" gems (at least for me) so the treasure can grow :) Tank you!
So interesting, Paul. I was just writing about this subject just last night for article. Thank you for writing out the kanji. It deepens understanding. Be well!
Paul I do not know how it was but I come from a rare streak and between consulting with people and others I think that today coincidentally I had to listen exactly to what you put here, I send you a great greeting I hope you continue to enlighten us for those who go down this path.
Love your videos! Keep them coming! Hope to be able to train with you someday...you recently were gracious enough to train with my senseis Mark White and Zach Labbay from Maine, and they said youre a treasure man 😊
I had an honor to train under a student of Doron Navon , The first Western student studied in Japan in the '60s under Masaka Hatsumi . My teachers name was Noam Jacob Hazan, like any system of martial arts the effectivity is based on the teacher and student. If both teacher and student are into it the teacher ability to transform student ski level to a higher degree is probable. Once a skill set has been marked , the student should be able of applying effective skill in combat. In a diad off good teacher bad student or bad student good teacher or both bad student bad teacher, The skill set will never be established, The foundation will be weak, therefore the application will be ineffective. I always said it, it's not the type of art it's the practitioners skill level. Training Ninjitsu transformed my life is so many ways .... Great video
Beautiful concepts! The description of ninpo ikkan reminded me of two things. The first is the parable of the hidden jewel from the Lotus Sutra, where the Buddha tells the story of a poor man who discovers that his wealthy friend has secretly sewn a priceless jewel into his robe. Find the treasure within! The second thing it made me think of along those lines is my favorite quote from St Francis who said that (I’m paraphrasing here) it is by overcoming oneself that one overcomes all enemies. Thank you so much for the food for thought!
Paul, you are a reference to me. I love your videos and you lessons. One day when i go to Japan, i will meet you to know you on person and to train taijutsu with you. Thank you for sharing.
1. “Panhandler”… lol… “harsh”… lol 2. I enjoyed how you broke down the phrase and explore the deeper meaning with the calligraphy. Please continue this practice. Arigatou Gozaimasu!
I enjoy your videos, I haven't trained in a long time but I find many of the lessons from when I trained stick with me - not many of the physical ones though. A teacher of mine long ago had brought one of the Shihan from Japan to visit. I was not privileged to attend the training he did, but as always after they spend time with the Shihan our teachers are renewed and have new insights. We were working a number of henka of the kihon happo and the henka happened to focus on walking while executing. Like many others, it didn't work right for me. My teacher said "It didn't work right for me either and the Shihan had shared this insight with me: If it doesn't work, just keep walking." Ultimately that had to do with shifting hi-cho points etc... but honestly, that was probably the most profound lesson I learned. When it falls to shit, just keep going.
You know how long this is going to take me to find this kanji on my keyboard how much paper & ink pilot document ink I'm going to waste writing this stuff down
You made me laugh but damn you made SOOOoo many points... I'm gonna have to write all that down and think about it all... *just kidding* Thanks Paul... *point made* :)
i always love your videos paul! this one is especially good because it is real talk, and your first hand perspectives of soke's lessons. keep em coming man!!!
Tabejutsu no takuan yasure? LOL! Sanjunen? Wow, impressive! Any advice for a young man who wants to move to Japan but doesn't know where to start? Anyway, doomo.
Thank you for your video Paul. It was great. I would personally enjoy more on this spiritual stuff concerning our art. I would say it is needed and not many people are competent to talk about it so you could do a good job imo if you choose to make more videos concerning this. I know speaking about such topics can be a bit... (chotto...) difficult to say the least but hey - someone's gotta do it, right? Why not someone who actually knows what they are talking about (yourself).
If you play with it you could ninpo i(c)an..that comes from me.we learn it a bit like ,maybe a bit other. Ninpo ikkan or constant notcontraction..beständige nichtanhaftung in german.is it wrong to live like that?in the end it is ninpo in any way, or?
Hi Sensei! Like a Turtle, I'm gonna 'Ninpo Ikan', but if I could, I would go like the rabbit. I'm little weirdo, but I have definetelly a pure heart. You will always see, because I'm including a little to much barefaced. With you all, I'm gonna progress faster. Best regards!
"Dr. Hatsumi was asked many years ago to provide documentation of some of his lineage for admittance to the Kobudo Shinkokai, perhaps the most reliable of the major organizations of traditional Japanese martial arts, and according to Donn Draeger, in a conversation to me, he was not able to provide documentation which proved his lineage to their satisfaction. Thus, there are uncertain areas in Dr. Hatsumi's lineage."
Paul I think what sensei actually meant is, you should go an take a cold shower under some of those beautifullwaterfalls i heard japan has to offer once in a while, and besides hes thinking about announcing ya the monkey or somethin, but dont make it official ye t😅😊😂❤😅
One of your best to date Paul. Really get a lot out of you breaking down Bujinkan philosophy. Thank you!
Just rewatched this video again and I learn something new every time.

Plenty of daishi han in the us so we aren't missing anything❤❤❤
@jovanyoung4236 here in Greece too but I think it's different "living" with soke. It's just my opinion

I’ll do my best! Thank you for the encouragement!
"You think I have a fucking plan?" Also, writing the characters to explain the idea of this was a good touch.

Walking is most important!!!!!

Paul, let me just take a sec here to say how much I love you! "Do you think I have a fucking plan?!"
That needs to go on a T-shirt!
You made me laugh but damn you made SOOOoo many points... I'm gonna have to write all that down and think about it all... *just kidding* Thanks Paul... *point made* :)
This is good stuff Paul.. man that writing looks familiar. Probably on a few of my bujinkan certs. Lol
Great video Paul- Luis Acosta
Best episode yet Buyu. 😂
Dr Masaaki Hatsumi watching 😊
Also, can u make a video on the "Chiaburu" prayer that you mentioned in the video please?
i always love your videos paul! this one is especially good because it is real talk, and your first hand perspectives of soke's lessons. keep em coming man!!!
Thank you! I’m on it!!
Your life sounds like the old ninja adage: You train and plan, but it is the Gods who decide who wins the battle. lol
Tabejutsu no takuan yasure? LOL! Sanjunen? Wow, impressive! Any advice for a young man who wants to move to Japan but doesn't know where to start? Anyway, doomo.
58 seconds in and I like the guy...

Very interesting Paul! Could you please transcribe the sentence in Japanese in the comments? Thank you so much! ありがとうございます
Ninpo Ikkan Magokoro ni masare 忍法一貫真心に勝れ
Ninpo Ikkan!

Ninpo ik kan

It’s interesting to me. Such a well spoken obviously intelligent guy but a truly ineffective “art”. The cult runs deep in the bujinCON.
I mean yeah sure, everything publicity is good publicity
Another crazy ninja. Hahaha
don't stop concetrating
Lol!

Bujinkan is NOT ninjutsu.
