    I just found your channel today and have already watched several episodes. I am a knitter, a reader, someone who strives for minimalism, and...........believe it or not............a funeral director!! I know, right? I have downloaded Smoke Gets In Your Eyes. I read Essentialism a few years ago and may read it again. Digital Minimalism is on my list!

    I'm so glad that there will be a channel that doesn't necessarily focus on the newest, currently best-selling books. I'm really tired of the pace other channels and blogs force on me, this quantity over quality thing. It'll be nice to sit down, reflect and talk about books that were truly worth reading, not just worth reading in "the last month". Thank you!
    As for Caitlin's book, I read it some time ago and I think it will stay with me forever. It's not a masterpiece and it's not entirely relevant to where I live (central Europe does funerals differently), but it opened me to speaking and thinking about death. It hadn't occured to me how hidden it was from me and how I was trying to dodge it. Death is a part of life (ironically), yet I feel so... awkward about it. I feel like I would be an inconvenience to people when I die. This book opened me up and I have been working on this area a lot: I've been learning about what I need to do when someone close to me passes away, what I want to do when it happens, and what I would need to take care of for myself.
    I wish everyone a good reading experience. I hope everybody finds something for themselves in the book. I'm looking forward to hearing from you all! ❤

      Thank you for saying this! While I might choose some “new releases”, there are plenty of treasures I haven’t read from years past. Can’t wait to read your thoughts on February’s book. Happy Reading!❤️

    I recently listened to a short documentary about green burial, it was quite interesting. I guess there are not too many approved/accredited (?) sites in North America yet but the one spoken about was in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. What was interesting was, at some point in your life, you can choose your final resting place in this green burial site and plant a tree that will grow over the course of years before and after you pass. Looking forward to following along with you on your reading journey, it's a hobby I've been trying to pick up again lately and hope to do more of.

    I was listening to you but looking at your bookshelf too. 😉 I see you have The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. Fabulous book. At the time I read it I was working in a grade school in Special Ed and the teachers tended to put me with kids that were having a rough childhood. I had to take a break quite a few times while reading this book. Great book though. Jeannette is exactly who people are talking about when they say “let your childhood go, get past it, this is your life now, you’re holding the reins” etc.

    So glad you're doing this! I have a library hold on Digital Minimalism and look forward to reading it and chatting about it. Probably I would not have chosen that book so I am grateful to ya for expanding my horizons. ❤

    I got Caitlin’s book on Libby after you mentioned it on Instagram and I find it very informative and honest, I’m really enjoying listening specifically having Caitlin be the reader, thanks for the suggestion.

    I just requested the book for February from my library. I had also requested the other book when you posted about it on Instagram. I’m hoping to get them both read.

    I must say that it's awesome how you read 9 books in one month. May be in my good years at school I did that, but now it's impossible for me. I just 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻.
    Have you read "the salt path"?. I just bought it in London and started to read it and can't let it go. If you haven't read it I recommend you to do so. Hugs from Chile!!

    I have been listening/watching your You Tubes for about a year now and love them. I don’t know how you have the time, my friend!! Looking forward to your new plans. I am working on a starter dough for sourdough but my success rate is not good…not giving up yet!

    Thank you, Nikol for the recommendation! I will be listening to Caitlin’s book. I periodically watch episodes of her UA-cam channel. However, for some reason did not know she had written a book. I will also be reading “Digital Minimalism” for February’s pick! 😊

    I read Caitlin's book a few years ago and loved it -- although seems odd to say that about cremation. As you said, it's fascinating. She is so smart and entertaining (She has a UA-cam channel, too).

    Ok, I just have to ask.......How do you read 9 books in January, knit, make lotion/toothpaste, sourdough bread, Mother, go to a job and put out mulitple youtube videos each month?!😰 You've cloned yourself, right? Because otherwise I feel incredibly inadequate😧 Much love from Vancouver Island!💜

    • @ThePineCottage
      @ThePineCottage  11 місяців тому +1

      Hi Debbie! It helps that I only work at the hospital two days a week! 😂 You are definitely not inadequate… we all spend our days doing things by necessity or choice. Some days I have the privilege of making more choices. ❤️

    this may sound morbid but I've actually been thinking about this for the past few days, the whole process after death, and how i'd like to plan it out a certain way beforehand so it's on my terms.. I just want to be cremated, no funeral nothing like that where people gather together because you died. Just not sure where to find that information or how to go about the whole thing.

    • @rorie1326
      @rorie1326 11 місяців тому +2

      You actually can go to a funeral home and plan everything out/ prepay for everything. Not sure that's what you want tho if you don't want anything.

    • @ThePineCottage
      @ThePineCottage  11 місяців тому +1

      I totally get this. I have had my burial plot for some years now. It gives me peace of mind to know it’s all planned out and taken care of. When you make a will, there is a section for the type of funeral (if any) you desire.
