Dark Angels: We used to have traitors in our midst. We must ensure KNOW ONE KNOWS!!
Almost every other loyalist chapter: We used to have traitors in our midst. We killed them. No biggie.
legionaireb it’s not that simple for the DA because 1. We lost our Primarch to the traitors
2. The warp keeps dropping Fallen out in different times and eras making the Fallen a constant threat and source of shame to the DA.
@@DharkDemonBlade black legion is litteraly a legion formed from traitor mariens from all legions, including loyalists.
Despite that, no chapter was declared excomunicated for having marines in the black legion.
However the Dark Angels might be declared heretics if the Inquisition find out about the fallen, not because it represent a problem, but because it gives an excuse to the Inquisition to ban a chapter borderline independant.
Dark Angels have, since the Horus heresy, not done very much outside of chassing loyalists, they were on Vrax just because they thought one of the Alpha legionnairs present had infos about the fallens, after that rumor prove to be false, they just left.
@@Sir_Bucket The thing is the Inquisition does know, the Grey Knights used that knowledge to blackmail the Dark Angels chapter to commit all their forces all 10 companies, to Pandorax campaign. Kaldor Draigo even accused Azrael of taking a ex Dark-Angel Grey Knight, one of the original founders as a Fallen captive when in truth Abbadon took him.

Why, what do they have to hide compared to the Dark Angels?
The blood ravens steal from other loyalist chapters, the silver skulls I don’t know enough to comment about, the Minotaurs serve the high lords of terra and have whipped out loyalist chapters on their orders to do so. And I don’t know enough about the Sons of the Phoenix to comment.
Darr Venom Fier LOL!, because those are the chapters which MAY be descended from (admittedly loyalist) remnants of the Traitor Legions, The Son Of The Phoenix ARE admittedly ULTIMA founding Primaris but are allegedly derived from Emperors Children Gene Seed. There was a conspiracy theory that The Fallen we’re actually the true Loyalists and the main Legion were in the process of turning traitor but switched back at the 11th hour. It’s all very messed up, but remember at one stage of the Heresy Loyalist 1000 sons were battling Traitor White Scars yet the White Scars are now portrayed as an example of a “crazy but nice” Chapter now. :)

The one Space Marine Chapter that takes secrets to the grave and obsession to extreme levels.
The problem is that all of that happened BEFORE the Inquisition existed. The Unforgiven didn't even know the Fallen were still alive until Cypher literally showed up in the Dark Angels' council chambers and told them... IN M32.

If geneseed was derived from the lion in the 41st millennium would it be more pure than the geneseed from the vaults on terra? And could a more pure form of space marine be made from the fresh geneseed compared to the aged and fatigued seed from the ancient vaults on the Rock or Terra?
Great question. I've wondered too! What about Corax? With his embrace of his dual nature what would have to his genome? Russ? Would spending millenials in Comoragh do anything to that of The Khan? What of all Vulkan's deaths, would they purify or corrupt his genome?
All great questions, especially since we know that at least for some of the more psychically inclined primarchs that things such as their their death or other profound and significant events can have affects on the gene seed. I have wondered myself about the fresh gene seed though. With the return of roboutte guilliman, are the ultra marines capable of creating fresh, pure gene seed from his DNA?
First, I am willing to bet that new gene-seed from the Primarchs would be more pure than gene-seed created from millennia of Progenoid Gland harvesting.
Second, I bet that Corvus and Russ' gene-seed has mutated significantly from spending time in the Warp, unless their Primarch physiology allows them to somehow ignore the Warp's effects on their gene-seed material.
I believe Jaghatai Khan and Vulkan would have their gene-seed act the same, unless the Dark Eldar experimented on Khan in some way.
@01sanguinius with the addition of cawls primaris organs I highly doubt legionnaires would have been equal to the primaris, but there is also certainly no doubt that the quality of the astartes physiology has declined over the millennium, certainly with certain gene seed defects.
I've also wondered about the warps effect on gene seed for the primarchs who have been in the warp, and since it's been a few hundred years in cannon if primaris gene seed is going to start experiencing similar mutations and defects as OG astartes.
With corax embracing his warp heritage and having his "daemon" form, I wonder if this is gonna have any significant effect on the raven guard and their successors

Let me answer the question of who The Dark Angels are.
THEY ARE THE MOST LOYAL LEGION/CHAPTER EVER WITH 0 TRAITORS AND NO SECRETS WHATSOEVER.
They are also the Legion with the worst books, best characters, the best Primarch and my personal favorite Legion/Chapter.
We have a handful of decent book but yeah I agree with you.
We are totally loyalist with zero secrets. No the Rock isn't a prison, it's a rock. The Fallen? No I don't know anyone who tripped..... do you?

While I think their secret keeping is a bit dumb, they have the coolest style with the Robes and chainmail combined with power armor.

They were known as the Emperor's Angels of Death at the outset of the Great Crusade, just as they were leaving Terra.
T'chulka was what made transit to Macragge possible. When the Iron Hands revealed that they intended to take T'chulka to Guilliman, it is what motivated the Lion to pay his brother a visit.
The Pharos was not what made it possible to reach Ultramar, it was the T'chulka. This was what made it possible for the 1st Legion to take Macragge by surprise. Guilliman points out that the 1st Legion's direction was to Macragge particularly.
One might also mention that the revolution begun by Curze in Illyrium on Macragge was the reason for burning out that region.
Legion building!!! We, the Unforgiven, were never anything but a Legion, the way the Emperor made us and the Lion maintained us.
They are the edge lords of the galaxy, hiding a dark secret and listen to fallout boy on their zune.

@laz kar The Night Lords are less edge lord and more sadistic murderers. I'm not sure about the Doo Eagles, but the Raven Guard definitely fit that description.

Great video, I enjoyed it a lot. However some one who's new to 40k will probably be confused, you could profit from slimming down mentions of current events and inter faction relations: Guilliman, inquisition, high lords, etc. I could see this video being very intricate to a newbie.
I honestly couldn't care less about space marines in 40k.
But the Dark Angel's have a special place in my heart. Their lore and motivations are really interesting and clash with recent events in the lore.
Other chapters: oh primaris either A:yay I want them, or B: grr I dont want them but fine.
Dark Angels: shit we need the numbers but they can't know our secret. They couldn't understand. How do we keep them from learning? What do we do when they do learn? How do we keep up the hunt without them finding out?
They are the one legi....chapter that sold me on space marines actually being interesting.

Inquisitor Thomas BA and RG have reasons to be some what melancholic. Dark angels are entirely emo and entitled.
There's nothing secret about them being emo.
Games workshop got the idea for the dark angels from the book of Enoch, the watchers and the fallen, even the pictures of them are very similar, robes and cowl worn over armoured angels, they nearly destroyed humanity and were cast down, hence the fallen, not sure how far GW will go with the original theory lol

Starting my own army this Christmas rlly excited to be playing the dark angels
I don't understand this secrecy with Fallen Angels. I get it is shameful and possibly dangerous situation. But how come it is still a secret so long after it happened? Unforgiven can't be everywhere to kill all witnesses every time. Other chapters or inquisitors would have eventually found some while randomly investigating renegade marines warbands activities. Some hints could have been spied or leaked. Cypher asked Girlyman to see the Emperor, so will Dark Angels silence a primarch now?
This is where some proper retcon or storytelling needs to be introduced.
Fun fact. During the battles with the Night Lords legion the Lion uses an unknown Xenos that could dwell within the warp and find the save and hidden paths to travel. Source Angels of Caliban.

I'd still like one of you guys to weigh in with a video on Alpharius and Omegon. It makes sense that there is so little fleshed out about them. Even still there the most interesting primarchs, even now it's hard to say what side they were really on.

(the one who broke the Night Haunter) They also have more plasma weapons. | 6:00 - The rivalry that started with one kill-stealing from the other. | 7:55 - (monotone) All hail the Ultrasmurfs. | 8:45 - The psychopathic "Robins" to that "Batman". | 10:30 - They didn't need to do that with Konrad Curze and Angron's, they did that themselves. | 13:06 - The Death Korps of Krieg appreciate the distraction, it allows them to get a little closer to the enemy to crack their heads open with their shovels. | 13:24 - Oh s***, THAT one. He's a genius by Ork standards. | Big Papa Ultrasmurf has at least some knowledge about their secret. (although not all of it) | Yeah, 10% chance of mutation, like with the Ultrasmurfs and the Imperial Fists.

I read recently (warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Dark_Angels, see the sidebar) that the Dark Angels, in respect of Homeworld, have "Tertiary Rights In Abeyance). What does it mean?
What will happen first? Lionel Johnson coming back or one of the lost primarchs making their first appearance
& the whole Fallen thing could have been avoided if the Lion had any people skills what so ever...
Plus one of the very few people outside the unforgiven that knows about & actively helps hunt the fallen, is a Space Wolf (although I can't remember his name).
But one thing ticks me very much about us, like, nobody knows our secrets but high ranking officers but everybody know those secretes, even noobs who are like a month into Warhammer know about The Fallen, The Unforgiven, Caliban, Luther, The Rock, That Lion is in stasis, Watchers in the Dark that we are arguably largest and most powerful I'd say legion (given successor chapters and all we are close to our former numbers before HH) only Ultrasmurfs match us, our feud with Space Wolves although we help them in siege of Fenris etc.
Note that if you run an army with a lot of tanks against a Dark Angels player, it won't end in your favour (at least for me as the only Dark Angels player I know always runs atleast one 10 man squad of Hellblasters)

No, that's the Iron Hands. The Dark Angels at least have an interesting story and characters like Azrael and Asmodai. I can't name a single individual Iron Hand or tell you what they've done since Ferrus Died. Although Ferrus is somewhat interesting and now he's leading the Legion of the Dammed, which is really awesome.
the luther vs lion duel was the same as horus vs the emperor as both luther and horus were fueled with the powers of chaos undivided and its amazing to see how many people think luther and astellan are loyalists smh

My personal hunch: Luther is a loyalist who defended Caliban from the Lion who had sided with Horus. The Warpstorm swallowed up the loyalist marines (the Fallen) and scattered them because they were holding out too long and Horus needed reinforcement. After Big E killed Horus the Lion sided with the winner (back to the Imperium). They hunt their former brothers to cover up their treachery. *oh and the Alpha Legion are secretly Loyalists fighting Choas from within.
Except that's not the case, because it's in the Hours Heresy novels. The lion is the most loyal primarch, malcador, and the emperor both say that they knew for certain The Lion would never betray them, no other primarch got tested like him, 10 years alone on a daemon infested planet.

Sorry if my lore is lacking here, but didn't Lion El'Jonsson and Leman Russ battle for days, breaking their weapons, before Russ realized that it was stupid and started laughing? And that is why The Lion didn't kill him with a weapon, he didn't have one.
Apparently not according to the Russ Primarchs novel, which is about the Dulan Campaign, so it looks like a piece of soft retcon
@@40KTheories ah had to reread the passage, it actually felt like it was a long time in the book the first time. But now upon rereading it I realise it can't be more the 10-20min of fighting. But dang they did inflict serious wounds on one another!
