It can be frustrating to watch a beginner as an aoe 3 veteran but this is mitigated by your willingness to learn and take advice from chat etc. It's fascinating to watch 2 top players from aoe 2 giving aoe 3 their best try and it's surprisingly evenly matched, which makes for good/entertaining games to watch
I’d love to be Vipers or dauts advisor. Can teach them/make the silly starts. Better if I can make em have aoe2 style names. Like fast castle. Build lots of castles as one of the Asian civs. Daut castles are harder cus of tc radius but might doable.
Daut isnt a aoe3 beginner, he used to play for one of the best clans back then MMC

@@kR-qj7rw It matters less but not completely useless. Actually still matters considerably. Relearning is always easier than learning.
it's also fascinating to see how different those games actually are even though the general base idea is the same (build up and defeat your enemy who is trying to do the same)
Random observations: The Sioux explorer improves the speed of all his cav units or infantry. Bow riders have a melee resist, making them better against melee units. They also have about double the dps of gunpowder units, but have a pull back bow animation that makes it more difficult to kite. Crossbows and skirm type units are shi*e at melee, even with multipliers. Sioux have two main strats: Bow Rider spam in age 2, or Rifle Rider Fast Fortress in age 3. RRs have a multiplier against heavy infantry (musks, pikes, doppels etc) and against cav, making them a dragoon/skirm combo. TLDR: RRs auto-delete everything in range, except skirmies.
Rifle riders are kinda bad though, theyre slow and take extra damage from skirms and goons.
bow riders are much better against heavy cav aswel. bow riders only take extra damage from skirms.
The counter system is not that complicated actually. The basics are:
Skirms > Musks and Goons
Musks > Melee cav
Goons > Melee cav and cannons
Melee cav > Skirms and cannons
Cannons > Infantery
Culverins > cannons
So usual combinations are e.g. Skirms+Goons (+cannons) and Melee cav+Musks (+cannons), although it depends a lot on the civ and situation obviously.

Dragons, Ruyters, knight rider, war wagons are all countered by skirmishers, cassadors, crossbowman, cetan bow

3. Some native villages have good eco/military upgrades
Always ship both factories first.....huge economic advantage and don't make sestates till u have coin mines left

When making Skirms or crossbows you always need some form of anti cav, 5 pikemen could've won you the game in age 2 (btw Skirms and crossbows beat ranged cavalry so it would be the ideal combo)

Viper needed artillery in game 2, culvs to counter Dauts artillery, and other to destroy banks etc.
Viper, a little bit in Game music is not that bad-when you destroy a trade post it is very satisfactory to hear the dramatic music:)

Lakota bow riders does extra damage to horses same to settlers. And also they have a hidden op strat where the riffleman gets insane multipliers when you stack tepee with the specific deck
God that first game gave me PTSD holy crap. Burnt out just watching that

Light Cav (Goons and Horse Wagons etc) > Heavy Cav
Heavy Cav (Hussars, Uhlans, Lancers, etc) > Light Inf
Heavy Inf (Pikes, Dopps, Musks in Melee) > Heavy Cav and Light Cav

You need to make units with good siege damage like piks or musks if you want to end the game and if you have an advantage.
All of your AOE3 videos are very entertaining. You need to get armory upgrades and eco upgrades though!

Viper, if you use some cards and upgrades explorers/heroes can be insane in the late game. I once lucked out and got a +100% hp treasure on an explorer with a deck already built to minmax him, ended up with a one man army who was nigh unkillable.
Then you look at the non european heroes and you'll find that they're all pretty darn badass too.
Too much fun to watch. good job guys. Lots of room for improvement, still a lot of fun to watch you both chat while playing.
Your micro was spot on but macro was awful in the first game. He was losing at one point, had you had some decent eco, you could have won. You build a mill but didn't upgrade the gather rate. Your Ulhans were also not upgraded to veteran. Many mistakes macro wise. He spent 1500 food and get Dog soldiers with the big button at the right moment when you didn't have any anti-cav.

Hey vipey, you've done very well learning to spend wood on the trade routes, now try to remember to use your scout "free kill button" as soon as it is off cooldown. ^_^
Uhlan are basically glass cannon horses they are known to harrass settlers early games
you can counter canons with culverins trained at artillery foundry

@@sohamdas7314 Well of course you'd not spam just doppelsolners, they are quite slow so you'll have to mix them with fusiliers, skirmisher or jaegers bcuz rifle rader do not resis any ranged damage.

Glad to see more comments pointing out "do this, do that". I only play AoE3 casually. These games feel a bit unintuitive while watching: the score differences and Daut getting such large armies.
The score does not consider ressources that are spend in the queue. Apart from that the score represents all existing units, buildings and completed upgrades (each Point equals one food/wood/gold). In my opinion its much more meaningfull than in AoE 2 where your score rises due to scouting and killing units iirc.

Lakota is a lame civ to play against, but yea, horse archers counter cavalry and are available from the get go.

GODDAMMIT i though you had won. Playing against Lakota is always the same shit, they've got a hard counter for everything but it never feels like you have anything that counters them.
Lakota's late game is pretty poor. Economically they fall off badly. They also don't have the best ranged infantry units only really having Wakina Rifles which don't scale well, so they can have problems dealing with ranged cavalry such as Dragoons, which also counter Rifle Riders unusually (most ranged cavalry doesn't counter itself). Walls are also extremely effective against Lakota because siege dance only does so much and costs villager seconds and they've got no artillery.
Some pros do call Lakota a 'unicorn' civ or a 'special' civ, but they do have very strongly defined weaknesses and strengths.
@@Peachrocks5 Absolutely! It's just that it's hard to fight against Lakota when you don't know them because early on their units feel like they are unkillable, and they have a huge map presence which means they are a really scary civ to fight against.
What Viper had to notice in both of those games is that light infantry kills light cavalry. Making goons against Dutch is not really viable because in a relative way they cost much more than Ruyters. Ruyters drop like flies to the cassadores which is what he should have noticed at 1:11:15. Should have gone for the kill when you had the chance instead of going up and fighting Dutch late game. Awesome matches nonetheless!

Dutch player cant replace bank, once you destroy them they are gone. After that big fight you could have used some cannons to attack Daut's town

@@pCadavez its still expensive to lose them, 350 wood and 350 food. Though attempts at sieging down the dutch are better focused on taking down the houses, then militairy buildings. Banks have too much health so it takes a while before they actually loss eco. Without houses they cannot spend the gold from banks.

Even Age3DE graphics are garbage, compared to number of actions per min in Age3 is much less compared to Age2 which makes easier to play.

It's much quicker, more macro based. Number of actions per minute does not lead to difficulty by itself.
