The big thing about the Festool dust collectors are they keep their suction even when the bag is full. I was using a Festool track saw and ripping lot of plywood. After about three hours of ripping, suddenly there was sawdust coming out of the saw. I shut it down and found that the bag was completely full and the suction was now filling the hose. I took the vac out to the dumpster to empty, but the bag was so full it wouldn’t come out of the vacuum. The only way I could get it out was to cut the bag open. I am a big Festool guy and find that when you buy Festool tools, you’re not buying a tool but buying a system. Very well thought out. Hint: if you go to jobsites as part of your job, throw a spare bag in the bottom of the dust collector before putting in the working bag. You will always have an extra and know where it is. Great video! Keep up the great work

As a small shop with a super limited budget Festool was something more of a dream. I knew they were good tools but I couldn’t justify the cost. Then I bought the Domino. GAME CHANGER! This past year I continued adding to my set up. I have the track saw, two sanders and one of the dust extractors. I absolutely love it. I wish I would have gotten the sander and dust extractor sooner. Huge difference. Even my husband was impressed with the dust collection on the sander. He was skeptical. He recently used it for his own project and was amazed. And what a blessing that it was gifted to you. That’s awesome!

The TS75 and the CT36 were the first Festool purchase I made, and I loved them!!! I got the Domino 700 with the adapter and bits next, so I could use any size that the 500 or 700 uses. I honestly thought I’d never get the sanders because I didn’t see the benefits being more than the costs…until I used them in a class at Woodcraft and saw how much time they save 😂

One helpful hint is to keep a sander stored with a sanding disk on it. It'll keep the loops from getting worn out prematurely.

Just bought the Festool Domino. Well, after 40 years of woodworking and being a jobsite carpenter, it is an amazing tool that I really should have purchased years ago. You are truely blessed to have been gifted these wonderful tools. Sanding, as we know, is the least appealing aspect of making. Many years ago, I purchased the Bosch, anti-vibe sander. It was expensive, I think I paid around £400 Sterling, but it was worth every penny. I do a lot of sanding, and that tingly feeling after a couple of hours of sanding with the 'Carlos Fandango' £29.99 orbital sander, well, no thanks.

I have had a CT15 dust extractor for a while and love it. Use it with my Fextool track saw, router and Domino. Have been using a Dewalt sander similar to what you have. Always done a good job sanding but dust collection was so-so and the sander was always covered with dust after each job. Decided to add a Festool sander to my collection. The same one you demonstrated. I could not believe how much less time a job took and virtually no dust on the sander. I used Festool paper which works great, no loading, no dust. Gave my Dewalt away. The Festool sander with their paper is the best combination I have ever used for sanding. Note Festool says you will do a better job sanding with the dust extractor speed turned down as a faster pick up speed inhibits the sander from working properly. You demoed the extraction power in the video, it's strong. Good luck with your setup. Nice video.

Festool is expensive but very well made in Germany. Germany are very high in Health and Safety. Here in the UK, health and Safety is being promoted especially for injury and breathing problems. A lot more people do DIY at home, its much better to have safe tools that are quiet, and do not effect your hearing and lungs. I am asthmatic but I do some DIY, so this is a game changer for me. As some homes are old here and have lead paint, protection is VERY important. I am currently saving up for a sander and Extractor. The less vibration on the sander has made my decision. Great video...thanks so much for the honest review, I can tell you are an honest guy. :-)

Yes, the Festool dust extractor is good. I've got a Rotex 90, but for larger areas a Sealey 150 (Mirka Deros clone) works really well with very little vibration for about a third of the price.

Good stuff brother. It’s so obvious how blessed you feel for receiving such a beautiful gift, you deserve it. Two things you didn’t mention. The extractor moves around so easily because it’s so light. Sure the wheels are awesome but it can be moved with one finger. Lol. The other thing is how quiet it is. I have mine (older model) set up to where I plug my machine into it and when I turn on the machine I can’t even here if it’s running. I spent a bunch of time walking over to it to make sure it’s on but learned it always is. Lastly, if you hook up a cyclone to it you will never have to deal with bags or filters. I mounted one to the top of my extractor and it handles my whole shop, one tool at a time. I’m about to buy a festool sander. Never in a million years thought I would spend almost 600$ on a sander but it’s worth it to save my hands and get the job done faster.

Recently picked up the same sander and the CT-15, I hate sanding a little less now! Really impressed at how much dust it collects, I’m in the northeast so my home shop slows down a lot in the winter or bad weather because I was only sanding outside. Had the first big sanding session with it today, between the dust extractor and a box fan filter running nearby there was no noticeable dust afterwards.

    • @coppulor6500
      @coppulor6500 Рік тому

Sounds encouraging. Just remember, according to the expert in the field, Bill Pence, unless you have a window open and a fan in the window pulling air through your shop, you're breathing in tiny particles into your lungs which are not visible to the eye. This concerns me greatly and currently I'm doing all my cuts and sanding outside with a portable fan to my back and still wearing a dust mask. I'm super sensitive to anything in my lungs so I can tell a difference pretty quickly. I'm trying to invent a new outdoor woodworking setup that keeps people comfortable, machines at a decent temperature, prevents condensation and provides optimal health. I'll let you know if I come up with something in the next 30 years lol

Truth be told, I've been to about 3 different stores over the last 18 months and have test driven the different sanders. The impressed look on my face during these innocent test drives prompted my wife to say "which one would you like to have?" I was floored~! First I got a Festool sander, the ECS EC 125. It changed my life with how powerful it is, even as a finish sander, and how little it vibrated. I held off on the Festool dust extraction for a long time, then I got one, the CT 15. It too changed my life. It is fantastic at dust extraction, but it is also the single best vacuum I have ever used. I use it to vacuum my house. It makes vacuuming FUN because it's so good. I can't recommend the sander and dust extractor enough.

Nice video, thank you!!! The Festool sander and dust extractor is something I've dreamed of owning for a LONG time 😥. Maybe someday. How smooth it rolls does not surprise me. Festool seems to consider every detail in their tool designs. Thank you again for doing this video!!! Keep the faith!!!!!

Have you considered it being refurbished from Festool? You can save about 20%

Just got a Festool sander after using a Bosch sander for a few years. The biggest difference to me is that the Festool shuts off almost immediately when you hit the power button which lets you set it down without having to wait until it spins down first. That to me is worth the price of admission.

smiled all the way through this... glad I'm not the only that get's off on that new tool smell! Someone should do man-candles... scent of... new tools, new car, new hi-fi, timber yard, cut grass.
Matt - you might want to add the Festool cyclone unit - yes it's Festool priced but I think would pay for itself in saved dust collection bags. Also... I have not tried the Festool sander, I don't doubt it's good, all their kit it is? But... I do LOVE my Mirka... zero pins and needles in your hand. Thanks again Matt for your enthusiasm!

There’s no comparison. Festool sanders are the best, but comes at a premium.
Also have the ETS EC125 and a Rotex 125. First one, almost zero hand vibration, great for those with carpel tunnel. The Rotex, can really flatten a panel glue up fairly quickly.
    Good review Matt.

I haven't used my orbital sander in 2 years. I prefer to use my hand plane to put a finish on my projects. The shavings from a hand plane is so much easier to clean up and to top it off I don't have a dust issue. Now my old table saw is a different story.

  • @indetailcarcaresolutions3770

Nice review. I am a woodwork teacher in Sydney Australia and I have been using Festool in my home workshop since about 2007 when I bought a Rotex 150 and CT Mini duster extractor. My workshop now extends to 3 routers 3 different dust extractors just to name a few. I find the low noise and vibration, accuracy and build quality without compare. I wish I could get their new cordless table saw set up but as I have their small table saw already 2 tables saws is overkill 😂😂😂😮. If you get the boom for your CT36 and mount it with your circular saw you will feel like a fully professional setup. Lloyd

The remote for the Festool vacs are awesome. I like how you left it away from the end of the hose. I don’t see too many people do that even though it is as per Festool recommendations.

I went with bosch get 5n and it blows me away. I am glad i decided to upgrade the sander before anything else. It made a huge difference. Once connected with a simple shop vac, sanding is virtually dust free! Looking for a lighter sander as well. Looking at this festool or the m12 finish sander.

Hi from Boerne, Tx. I didn’t believe in Festool till I tried try them. Now I have quite a bit of it. Try Mirka sanding media. It works beautifully on the sanders.

I look and dream on the festool saw sander thing that they first came out with. I have a Walmart version I can’t find. I have severe arthritis in my hands and this kind of stuff is awesome.

I recently upgraded from a makita 6 inch sander to the Festool ETS EC 150/5 . The Festool is half the weight, i can sand for at least one hour without getting any tingling in my hand ( makita i can only manage 5 minutes) most importantly the festool stops straight away after switching off, where as the makita takes around 10 - 15 seconds.

I need to get one of these either one. I just got back into woodworking and I've always used a shop vac. I've spend more time cleaning up dust than making anything.
