I LOVED TOM LAKE! Meryl was a predictably incredible narrator. And it is perfect for spring! It is like a gentle walk with a close trusted family member. You’re gonna love it
I’m very much a mood reader but my May TBR consists of Spinning Silver, The Adventures of Amina Al Sirafi, The Princess Bride, Book Lovers, and The House in the Cerulean Sea
Murderbot is the best series I've read this year. I'm on book 5 right now and I look forward to your feelings on books 3 & 4. One of my favorite parts of long flights is I will just BLAZE through books (something about being trapped with nowhere to go makes me so productive LOL). I hope you have an amazing trip, I'm going to Japan next year and am so excited to finally go!
Poison Study is so amazing! I recently discovered this is actually a 7 book series! Any books past the 3rd book are hard to find but I’ve seen them sold on used book sites.
Desperately waiting for what you have to say about Tom Lake. The audiobook is beautiful. Meryl's voice is perfect for the character. I read Bel Canto because of you and it was a fantastic read.
I hope you have an amazing time in Japan! I was there years and years ago, and I want to go back. I am a Japan nerd. I don't have a set May TBR, because, as usual, I am trying to just knock out my overall TBR and read the books I own I haven't read yet (and whatever preorders come out), but I know I want to read Husky & His White Cat Shizun vol 5, Relics of Ruin, SOS Hotel: Sleep With Us, and finish the Story Thieves series. Also want to read one of my Japanese language books. We will see what else I get to.
In May, I have The Ice by Ryan Cahill, Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff, The Lightbringer by Rebecca Zahaby and maybe Absolute Friendship by John LeCarre
i just started reading Blood Over Bright Haven yesterday and finished half of it in a day! if you’re looking for a quick standalone fantasy do read it! same with The Sword of Kaigen ❤
safe travels + have a fantastic vacation! your may picks are intriguing. hope i will get around to the expanse series soon. loved the tv show. funny enough, i just read the first 3 books of the chronicles of ixia (poison, magic, and fire study) and really, really enjoyed them! great characters, world, magic, and adventures. for me, the romance subplot came out of nowhere, though. but, yea, great reads! just started with book 4. looking forward to hearing your thoughts on north woods, naomi novak, and the licanius trilogy! happy reading and traveling! 💜
I just finished 'Spark of the Everflame' The Kindred's Curse Saga, Book One and it's pretty good. I've seen people talk about how the next book is great so I'm excited to dive in to book 2. I'm reluctant to begin The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb because I don't know if my poor heart can take the emotional toil but I'm SO INTRIGUED! Agh!
omg im currently reading tom lake via audiobook and wow it is amazing! personally its just a stunning rendition of the book. meryl streep is insanely expressive ive had moments where i rewind and relisten to her speak a line! wonderful book and amazing audibook experience
Is reading Assassin's Fate during uour vacations a good idea ? 😅 I have just started The Ballad of Songbirds and Snake I plan to read as well the Dragon Republic by R.F Kuang, The Hurrican Wars by Thea Guanzon (not sure about this one, I heard mixed things) and maybe Daughter of the Forest if I have the time. I also got from my library the last Tiffany McDaniels book, On the Savage Side. Have you tried any Tiffany McDaniels books ? I think it would be totally your style. There are literary fiction books that border slighty on magical realism with beautiful lyrical writing and tacle very heavy topics. The emotional damage is real.
I think i shall begin the third Robin Hobb trilogy in May ❤❤ that last book you mentioned sounded very intruiging, and James Islington too.I tjought there where time jumping in that series? I have the Scholomance series waiting in my bookshelf, among many others! 😂❤ I've stopped planning my tbr so much, as it never reslly goes as I planned anyway! I go with some bookclub books, And try to mix old books that have been waiting with new books as well ❤
Have a fantastic time in Japan! Where are you going? I went in October and I'm going back in June, which was not initially part of the plan for this year. 😂 I was way too tired to read when I went in October, so I'm on the fence about bringing any books with me. I might bring a couple of short books for the plane, or maybe if I need quiet time since I'm going with three other people. I've only heard good things about The North Woods. I have yet to read any Ann Patchett, but her books keep coming up, so I'm definitely intrigued. In May I always read books for the Asian readathon, so I'm reading Dragonfruit by Makiia Lucier, Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jesse Q Sutano, The Bandit Queens by Pirini Shroff, A Tempest of Tea by Hafsah Faizal, and The Old Capital by Yasunari Kawabata
🦋 May TBR 🦋 I've started The Legends of the First Empire in April, on your recommandation. I'm done with Age of Myth, and I hope to be able to listen to Age of Sword and the 3rd one (Age of something, I imagine 😂). Also, for my "ereader-read", I'm rereading my way through The Farseer trilogy to FINALLY get to The Fitz and The Fool 🥺. This month, I'm aiming to finish Assassin's Quest and then jump to reread the 1st Tawny Man book.
Even more than 2 arcs, the Expanse is organized into 3 arcs that follow the scope and players in the conflicts. First arc is obviously the conflict between the traditional human factions of mars, earth and belters. For spoilers sake, wont mention players in the other two arcs.
May TBR is continuing the Harry Potter Series I am on Book one. I also want to read Las Mujeres del Narco by Anabel Hernández. I can read in Spanish but for others who don’t I believe they have translations
Your si-fi recs though! I want to read that Murder Bot book (but i already forget the name of it) Im reading Love Redesigned, to bad i have Tommrow, Tommrow and Tommrow on deck, and on my nook im still reading the Torpedo Ink books i believe im half way through the 6th one. I read that when i need a break from slow burn and need insta. Will you be taking us to Japan (will u blog?)
Here's my tbr The green mile by Stephen king A private school by Charles Spencer memoir Murtagh by Christopher paolini You've reached sam by Dustin thao Interview with the vampire by Anne rice
Murderbot 1 - murderbot protects the hero by fighting aliens Murderbot 2 - murderbot travels forward in time to understand and identify the hero's enemies and then travels back to kill them Murderbot 3 - murderbot goes into the brains of close friends and relatives of the hero and understands their intentions and motives and protects the hero against their machinations.
I had to dnf at least for now an echo of things to come. Also confused why you keep saying murderbot "gained conciouness" it didn't gain it it was always "conscious" it just hacked it's gone module the thing that prevented it from doing what it wanted.
the immediate "girl.." that came out of me when she put Assasins Fate up lol regan is so real for that
I’m almost finished with Assassin’s Apprentice…so my Robin Hobb journey is JUST beginning, but I am loving it so far!
I cackled when you held up Assassin's Fate 😂 looks like a good month!
Just finished the first book in the Farseer trilogy- adore Hobbs writing 😍 def slow burn but soo worth the pay off!

I just picked up a copy of The Poison Study at a library book sale after seeing it on your channel. Excited to explore it!
Tom Lake was so so so good! I hope you like it. It’s definitely one of my favorite reads of the year. Also, Meryl Streep was the perfect narrator!

I just finished Murderbot series and it’s my favorite sci-fi series of all time and I need more books
I'm reading Tress of the Emerald Sea for an annotation circle this month. My first Brandon Sanderson and my first attempt at annotating a book!
Agh!

I've been thinking about giving The Expanse series another chance. I'm in line for Tom Lake on Libby.
I loved North Woods! ❤
Murder bot Series is so good at #5 . Hope you enjoy them. Started reading Patron Saint of Liars by Ann pachett
North Woods is one of the strangest books I've read this year, but I enjoyed it.
Have the most fun in Japan though!!!!

Where is GOLDEN SON?!?!
poison study trilogy is actually more average as compared to the next trilogy... books 4 5 and 6 are better
thanks for actually using the it/its pronouns for Murderbot. I've seen so many booktubers use she/they to refer to it.
I highly recommend Court of Tricksters by S.L.Prater. ♥
