I love how this movie addresses the feeling of "not being good enough" to live at all, in feeling ashamed about your listlessness and lack of "purpose".
Parents need to rewatch the scene where 22 and Joe jump. You notice when they first jump, 22 is holding Joe for dear life with eyes closed (birth of child and how they need parent’s guiding and helping them survive. Plus they’re always sleeping) then she opens her eyes and gets more experience of life and slowly lets go with one hand to experience it for herself (childhood with still guidance from parents but not as much as infants need). Then when the badge lights up, that represents adolescent where the soul figures out who they are and does things all on their own without parents holding their hand. Parents still provide guidance when needed. Then when Joe let’s 22 go, it represents parents letting their child go to live their own life (college or moving out). Go live your life!

“The centripetal force on our planet is still fearfully strong, Alyosha. I have a longing for life, and I go on living in spite of logic. Though I may not believe in the order of the universe, yet I love the sticky little leaves as they open in spring. I love the blue sky, I love some people, whom one loves you know sometimes without knowing why. I love some great deeds done by men, though I’ve long ceased perhaps to have faith in them, yet from old habit one’s heart prizes them. Here they have brought the soup for you, eat it, it will do you good. It’s first-rate soup, they know how to make it here. I want to travel in Europe, Alyosha, I shall set off from here. And yet I know that I am only going to a graveyard, but it’s a most precious graveyard, that’s what it is! Precious are the dead that lie there, every stone over them speaks of such burning life in the past, of such passionate faith in their work, their truth, their struggle and their science, that I know I shall fall on the ground and kiss those stones and weep over them; though I’m convinced in my heart that it’s long been nothing but a graveyard. And I shall not weep from despair, but simply because I shall be happy in my tears, I shall steep my soul in emotion. I love the sticky leaves in spring, the blue sky - that’s all it is. It’s not a matter of intellect or logic, it’s loving with one’s inside, with one’s stomach.” -Fyodor Dostoevsky

I would have preferred joe went to the great beyond instead of coming back, thing about new Disney movies nobody dies anymore or if they do it's either before the film or they get reserected.
In the Audio Commentary on the Blu-Ray, they talked about how they constantly debated on how they wanted the film to end. There were some versions where Joe went to the great beyond and then there were other versions where he came back. After debating a lot, they ultimately decided to go with the latter
And why is that such a huge problem tho? Surely it will still synchronized well with the kids and they'll still get the gizz of it and it's deep message. 🤨
Nothing wrong with that, when the kids grow up and rewatch it, they will find tons of new meaningful things as an adult 🥺. It's like us rewatching ratatouille when we're all grown up 😂
I don't know a kid who didn't understand this movie. Kids don't get enough credit. They are smarter than many give them credit for. Don't sell them short. We all deserve better.
I’m curious why they chose that location on the planet cuz obv China for the international box office but why around Kunlun and Xinjiang? Couldn’t they have moved it around to like central or East China where the majority of urban centres are?

I just saw this in theater last week and still cried no matter what. I love this movie so much!
I interpret this as a parent's journey:
1. When they first jump, 22 is holding Joe for dear life with eyes closed and both hands holding his.
Represents infancy.
She needs full guidance.
2. She opens her eyes and slowly lets go with one hand to experience it for herself.
Represents childhood.
Her opening her eyes represents her seeing the world more clearly.
Holding one hand represents still being handheld from parents, but not as much as infants need.
3. The Earth Pass lights up and beeps softly.
Represents adolescence.
She’s almost ready to leave the nest and take on the world without her parents.
The badge also represents souls forming a better idea of who they are in the world and what they want to do.
Joe helped 22 complete her badge by teaching her not just how to live, but why to live.
4. 22 lets go of Joe’s hand and flies on her own.
Represents child leaving and parents letting their child go to live their own life (college or moving out).
22 is nervous and sad to leave, but Joe nods and smiles, reassuring her that everything will be alright.
Also I forgot to mention:
22 is a metaphor for being age 22; the age when most people graduate college and have the existential pressure at such a young age to have everything figured out on what career to do for the rest of your life.
"I'll go as far as I can"

They have families, they have people they interact with and co-workers and inside-jokes. No matter what country you're born in, a humans a human.
22 fell too far west to be in North Korea. I think India is the most likely country 22 will be born in.
@@ee3ee452 lol I'm from Syria
Dont think it matters, in the end its about finding that spark (but obviously politically unrest places sounds a lil scary not gonna lie then you get 22 turning into an ambitious dictator lol). But think i heard from someone "Poor in soul or character is not same as being broke". While i find the movie slightly preachy i will give credit by the use of propeller leaf imagery to ilustrate what the movie wants, thats insanely genius i think
Listen this is a GREAT movie…BUT wow this is real for children lol
This is the most realistic movie for children's
@@yalovoyhznepomny how so??
@@charles305 too many kids these days are comparing themselves to what they see online and feel like they aren’t good enough if they don’t reach their potential.
❤❤❤
In many ways this is reminiscent of Mr Robot season 3 ending.
Do you think, they’ll be crossover Cartoons: Supernoobs vs. Soul
I heard this is coming to theater in January
o so that is why they used to make unnecessary noises around me and its still going on..as they keep on telling them that i am the one enemy to them and they want revenge o m g its so suficticated complicated😂

Minute 2:00 22 Born in China i mean , he will spend his life as an Asian person who is Mei from Turning Red,well the movie transitions in Canada Toronto but Mei was born in China
I don't think that's how it works. You see other souls curving at a certain point closer to planet.
@@nickmoney 22 born in China and 22 born in China and although Mei lives in Canada , Mei lives in Canada , Mei was born in China , because Domee Shi the director of Turning Red was born in China and lives in Canada👉 ua-cam.com/video/q3p9xw9rPLE/v-deo.html
@@rubenrubio4611 So your theory? Theory isn't fact.
Soul takes place in 2020 and Turning Red takes place in 2002, so this theory makes no sense whatsoever
Mei was born in Canada
Ah earth a place where we humans all live but manage to hate each other for no reason
I know
And what are you doing about it?
So 22 is gonna be Chinese..... Figures with all that infinite loot of knowledge she has...
❤
This movie is on abc right now
Did 22 land in North East India??
There's no way this movie was placed in the comedy genre 😢
earth is hellish prison
I would have preferred joe went to the great beyond instead of coming back, thing about new Disney movies nobody dies anymore or if they do it's either before the film or they get reserected.
In the Audio Commentary on the Blu-Ray, they talked about how they constantly debated on how they wanted the film to end. There were some versions where Joe went to the great beyond and then there were other versions where he came back. After debating a lot, they ultimately decided to go with the latter
@@superjackster0165 well thanks for the info still doesn't make me wish they went with the former.
@@pugtie4695 Oh I wasn't trying to make you change your opinion. I apologize if it came off that way
@@superjackster0165 non needed. Have a good day.
This movie is way too advance for kids..
And why is that such a huge problem tho? Surely it will still synchronized well with the kids and they'll still get the gizz of it and it's deep message. 🤨
Nothing wrong with that, when the kids grow up and rewatch it, they will find tons of new meaningful things as an adult 🥺. It's like us rewatching ratatouille when we're all grown up 😂
Actually movies like this is what kids should be watching
I don't know a kid who didn't understand this movie.
Kids don't get enough credit. They are smarter than many give them credit for. Don't sell them short. We all deserve better.
nah kids are smart as hell.... tbh sometimes more intelligent than many adults I know (emotionally speaking at least)
Uh oh she’s going to Xinjiang 😳
I’m curious why they chose that location on the planet cuz obv China for the international box office but why around Kunlun and Xinjiang? Couldn’t they have moved it around to like central or East China where the majority of urban centres are?
too bad for 22
Hope she insists on Gan Chinese, because her spark is telling how bad Mandarin and Cantonese sound like. Thats only way i want "Soul 2" to be a sequel. Number 22 becomes language minister insisting on a better sounding language, i would pay money to see that movie be made!
Tina fey did a good job but I think Ayo Edebiri would have been a really good choice for 22
🐈
dont go into the light
She lands in China and immediately gets sent back
Solol sad movie after life movie guy he dies went to heaven becme a solo
1:30-1:37
Is she Mulan?
lmao bro landed in russia
why didnt they stay holding hands?
Watch the movie
Because she was only supposed to incarnate not him. He already did
What if they both held hands until it was time
@@sydneyallen8820 I hope 22 found her spark on earth which is probably the idea of living or when you are ready to live, it deals with depression very well in this movie. But yeah it was a great movie!
