    Could you move the camera a little further right so the camera picks up the ball going into the pocket. Your kinda of standing in the way of seeing the ball going down the lane. Sorry for being picky.

      @@Tenpindoctors I could see the ball motion to a certain extent from the foul line to about 2/3 the way down the lane but couldn't see if the ball rolled in or snapped it in. I'm impressed with the ball. It might be the next ball that goes into my bag.

    I throw urethane a lot on THS because the left side of the lane is very wet/dry. I've had a lot of luck with the Pyramid Pathogen Plague (solid urethane) and to a lesser extent, the Storm Fast Pitch, because both are weak urethanes. Balls like the Purple Hammer, Zen/U, Black Widow Pink U, Double Cross, etc. are all a good 5-10 boards stronger, and force me to play too steep for urethane. I've never tried the Pitch Black, and I'm not 100% sold on the !Q/78 as a THS ball... most urethane just isn't suited for it. I'd love to see something like the Hustle or even the old Turbine core in this new 78 cover.

    Unrelated to the video, a tip I came up with, that i dont know if anyone said based on what ive seen, is when your balance arm is out to the side when you are about to finish the throw is chase your balance arm with your hip, assuming the stance is mainly upright like mine, because it helps at the release give a bent knee & subconsciously moves my trail leg over. Working on pushaway timing as well since i do it on my 3rd step in a 5 step but incase you do anymore videos on timing, release etc. see if that is something helpful as it helped me.

    I got my nu blue today and it's a big difference between that and a purple hammer. The first difference I seen is how much later it is than the purple. The blue also makes a nice shape that can be similar to a purple reactive but it'd be a little sharper. The similarities are for me I can use it on dry or fresh like a purple. I can also throw it the same speed as I go left and it picks up and goes through the pins. So far it's has a couple differences that make it a different ball but it has things in common that makes it worthy of being in your arsenal.

    According to BrunsNick, urethane balls do NOT get softer. He disagrees with that "study", explaining that their durometer testing was flawed, testing gunk on the ball and not the real surface. I believe Brunswick and company have done a lot of their own testing to confirm this. Urethane balls don't absorb oil, so the thought of oil making the balls softer doesn't make logical sense.

    I am a low speed, high rev player. My average speed is somewhere between 11.4 and 12.1, however I have alot of revs. Officially I don’t know my exact revs number, but I know it’s a lot. My go to balls are my purple hammer and my dv8 Hellraiser Blaze. I am a player who prefer playing at an angle, compared to playing straighter. Because I do have alot of revs, and the Blaze is a super strong ball I find myself getting a lot of Brooklyns. If I don’t want to go Brooklyn I have to open up my angle pretty wide, and pretty much throw the ball at the gutter (then I’m able to hit the pocket). When I throw my purple hammer I still have my angle open, but not as wide compared to when I’m using my blaze. With my purple hammer I don’t have to get the ball out wider and I usually hit the pocket without any issue. If I am only able to get one of these balls, which one do you think would be better for a player like myself. Also I apologize for the super long comment

      I don't throw super hard, 13-14 mph usually. I bowled league at 18 years old, and then never again til this year (43 now) so it's alllllmost like starting over, but of course I bowled very occasionally over the years. First new ball since 06 (EPX-T1 that broke after 10 games 😭) and got a Black Widow 2.0 Hybrid against recommendations. Practiced most of this year, got my ball about 3 months before league. Quickly improved, started topping 200 more regularly than ever, set my PB twice (246 then 248). THEN league started. Of course with fresh house pattern it was a whole new game. Struggling with consistency now. Trying to adjust throughout the evening, but definitely need to work on basics and drills. Also want a medium performance ball and a spare ball. JR is my favorite to learn from.

  • @persistentintensity
    @persistentintensity 7 місяців тому +4

    I like urethane because it's predictable and durable. Some of my reactive balls are dead after a year, even with surface adjustments. I'm not a pro, so it's not critical that I have higher end stuff other than for nationals. BTW, I thought the blue hammer is not urethane?? I have both a blue and purple hammer. I like them! To be fair, I have a UC2, Hype Solid and a Summit... just in case!

    Nublu is cool though.. that core drive
    You want it to hook, throw it down/ in with a less aggressive drill, all balls are different and the drill you put on them.. and then the expectations

    I only know of 1 bowler at our bowling center who benefits from using urethane balls. That is because he is a very straight bowler. He's my bowling partner in a lot of leagues. A pretty good bowler and with the sort of style he bowls, urethane ball work well for him. He's one of the 5% of bowlers than can actually bowl with urethane on a house shot properly. It's all in the style in which he happens to bowl. For the rest of us, urethane is really taboo on a house shot. I feel that a lot of people I bowl with in league could bowl a whole lot better if they learned to use reactive properly.

  • @GracieGarage
    @GracieGarage 7 місяців тому +1

    Just my opinion. T he PBA should have thought more about this. The purple hammer has been so popular. Folks see it on tour. Folks buy it for league. Now, it will not be seen on TV. It will hurt Brunswick's sales. I do not think this is good for the game. But, I predict. Science will prevail. The NU Blue hammer is just a patch. They will come out with a harder urethane that still reacts like the purple. They will figure out the formula.

      @@SteveBoos-ng2zk All balls are urethane just some have more or less plasticizer in it. They skated the rule by putting just enough to cause the ball to absorb oil at a specific rate. Hi JR. When you get a chance I want you to make a video talking about the modern release. My issue is that I’m being told by my coach to “lift with your fingers” to hook the ball. I understand that lift just basically means the thumb coming out first and the ball staying on the fingers longer, but my high school coach is telling me to literally lift my fingers and keep my wrist locked so that it won’t break backwards. And this doesn’t seem right. This is 2023, not 1983.
