    might have been used or mentioned before, but maybe the burst positions can be used for a possible collision point. if the locations are marked then maybe if the spark color was just like a normal sparks then it could be used for projectiles hitting something and sparking. just a beginner but that's just a thought

    Hey awsome tutorial,
    i have a question, can you make a tutorial how to render out Specular or Reflection mask to use in post (AE) or like a pass on maya with Arnold renderer ,AOV
    i know indirect specular in the AOV is kind of working but not very good
    Thanks!!

    • @MHTutorials3D
      @MHTutorials3D  7 років тому

      I will see what I can do !

    • @itays1999
      @itays1999 7 років тому

      Thanks!
      i mean like an object on a table (bottle etc...) the table is reflactive (or have specularity values ) and in the mask only the specular of the bottle on the table shown without the hdr or the lighting.
      sorry for my English :)
      I hope you understand what I mean.

      In Maya 2016, press Alt+B or go to Windows > Settings/Preferences > Color Settings > 3D views (don't know if it's the same for Maya 2017)

    Is it possible to use this to make fireworks with a secondary burst, or more of a crackle effect?

    • @MHTutorials3D
      @MHTutorials3D  7 років тому

      Meaning ?

    • @Trosski
      @Trosski 7 років тому

      Mike Hermes meaning the firework ascends, has a small burst, and the resulting particles have their own secondary burst.

    Hi there Mike! What about Vray? I mean, i am trying render them and actually the fireworks appear in the render scene (every sparks, depending by the color spread has a lambert assigned). The scene is at night and the problem is that they result so dark because the incancedesce looks to not work. I tried to assign a v ray mesh light to the group of the sparks but doesn't work, so i tried to override some lambert material with a v ray light material or a vray normal material but looks like they are condamned to be dark. i had success just giving a different Material ID to every lambert doing a pass of masks. Like this i can have a chance to make them more interesting. Any advices? thx for your time and thanks for the video!!!

    Great videos, this one is no exception but I must sidetrack for the following: why does Maya change so much between versions that it's impossible to follow a tutorial start to finish if you don't have the exact version? I mean, Photoshop changes between versions as well but you can usually figure out what's going on, the systems aren't generally so upended that customers are left without means for instruction. With Maya, if I'm only able to find videos from one year before or after, it's extremely common for me to be unable to finish because things have been removed, changed so much the tutorial is no longer viable, and I only find this out partway through the video, which might be the 10th video I've tried to work through.
    In this case, I do have Maya 2017, but not nvidia, nor am I interested in paying for something that was free in last year's version, so I was a little disappointed to start this video and find out that this, too, was one I'd be unable to finish.
